Tongxiang 4-Star Hotel Guide

Tongxiang is located in the northern Zhejiang Province and is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiaxing. It borders Xiuzhou District in the east, Haining in the south, Yuhang District and Deqing County in Hangzhou in the west, Nanxun District in Huzhou in the northwest, and Wujiang District, in Suzhou of Jiangsu Province in the north. Tongxiang has a relatively developed economy and is one of the most powerful county-level cities in the country. With a long history and profound cultural background, Tongxiang is the hometown of the Chinese novelist Mao Dun and the famous cartoonist Feng Zikai.

There are many places to visit in Tongxiang, including Wuzhen, the Feng Zikai Memorial Hall, the former residence of Mao Dun, Shimen Osmanthus Village, the former residence of Kim Jung Wah, and more. Because of Wuzhen’s popularity, many hotels in Tongxiang with different rates are located there. Wuzhen’s Old Street crosses through the city and branches off into promenades, arched bridges, and rivers with black boats with awnings. Similar to the Shen Mansion in Zhouzhuang, the former residence of Mao Dun in Wuzhen is popular with visitors who are fans of literature. During the Tongzhi years, the academy established in Tongxiang was once the place where Mao Dun studied. The Bailian Pagoda, the old post office on the banks of the Xishi River, the ancient shop of Huiyuan on Changfeng Street, Xizha Laojie, and the Hongyuan blue print cloth dyeing workshop also tell the story of the town's history. The history of foot binding in ancient China, a practice that lasted for nearly a thousand years, is told at the Golden Lotus Themed Pavilion. Interested visitors should be sure to check it out.
