I stayed here for one night and although I did read the reviews before I booked, I enjoyed the convenience of the location and wanted to experience this establishment for myself.
The bed was nice and comfy and very clean, room had a mini fridge - although scratched and quite dented, tv worked but needed some toying around with before it and the satellite turned on - non of the remotes had battery covers on them, had a window ac with a remote that worked pretty well, bathroom was gross; there was dried grouting everywhere on the walls and floor, there was what looks to be small patches of mold on the grouting and wall in the shower, sink and general space was quite small, floors in the bathroom and bed area were not swept properly and left my feet dirty, windows were dusty and mirrors and ledges were dusty with crumbs in the corners and cracks, front desk was not always present and took a bit of waiting for someone to come, front desk also didn’t seem to speak English very well, my room floor was also built on a slant which made the bed tilt to one side which made me feel quite uneasy, room doors are very noisy so you can hear anyone on your floor open thier door at anytime which was a bit of a disturbance during the night and in the early hours, they do accept a cash security deposit if you don’t have a credit card and don’t surcharge you.
The homeless community does not make me feel unsafe however I know that’s an issue for some. There is a large homeless encampment on the corner of one street over from the street that the hotel is on. This also results in a LOT of sirens and heavy police presence in the immediate area of the hotel.
Hotel is very close to downtown and union and many may attractions and restaurants are within a 15 minute car/uber ride.
I would recommend this hotel for any single person staying for a short time that will not be spending a lot of time in their room. I am unsure as to whether I will be a returning customer.
