We have been coming to the TLH resort for last 6 years in November time which has now become our family tradition and as our family grows so does this weekend become even more important. This is a great place for all ages and especially a big group as plenty to do if you don't want to leave complex and you dont have to do everything together but still be in reaching distance. ( great for me due to mobility issues so easier to get around) we have stayed in the Derwent and carlton but prefer the carlton as the dinning experience feels a lot calmer. Staff were great and service was spot as nothing was to much trouble. We have already booked up again for next year and would recommend to anyone young and old. It's how you want to make your experience and the staff help with it . Just be kind as life is tuff enough.

Overall this trip was amazing, my sister booked this for me as a Christmas present, it was an overnight stay, spa fire & ice experience & Afternoon tea, we found it and booked in with ease, twin room was lovely, however our experience at the Aztec bistro for afternoon tea was a disaster, I have a severe egg allergy & my sister had exchanged several e mails with the bistro manager, who assured us that vegan scones would be available as an alternative with no problem. On arrival at the allotted time we were met with teenage staff who actively ignored us for at least 10 minutes with 1 young man serving, 1 young lady behind the bar found the time to finish her own drink and empty the bin while walking past us standing there, when it arrived the afternoon tea looked sadly lacking, on the bottom plate was 3 tiny finger sandwiches, the middle plate was a chocolate brownie which 'may contain egg' so I cant eat it, the top plate was a slice of vanilla cheesecake which I cant even explain how awful it looked!! It wasn't even dressed up to look edible, I asked about the vegan scones as promised, 10 minutes later I was told sorry we cant provide those for you today, is that ok!!! Not really!!!

We stayed at the Carlton for a birthday celebration . Had a lovely time , The restaurant was closed on the Sunday night but we were offered the Victoria restaurant , well we couldn’t fault it staff were lovely , a special mention for Storm , what a lovely smiling young man . A credit to your hotels . The restaurant manager was also very nice ,food was very good and choice was excellent . So much so we asked to eat there for the rest of our stay , pool area was great nice relaxing swim entertainment excellent , and finished off with a treat in the Aztec spa , and what it treat it was , thank you all The 60th Birthday table !

The first bad thing was the receptionist, she was rude and very unwelcoming, we knew we may have to pay for parking , but the manner it was dealt with, was short sharp an totally unnecessary and £40 for 4 nights was I feel extreme. the room although a standard family room was shabby , the bath had chips out of it. The food left alot to be desired, for £27.95 each it was crap . However the Alberts bar is worth a visit not just for a drink but for food as well, it cost less then the meal in the restaurant. My son and I found the games adequate, although you did have to look for the staff, they seemed more interested with there mobile phones then attending to the guest needs, and this only the first couple of days .

I have just stayed here for the weekend with my husband on a spa break. The first room we were given was right next to the door to the corridor and could hear the door closing so asked for a different room which the reception staff managed to sort out after a bit of a wait. Second room was further along the corridor but over looked the really busy road and as the room was always very hot, we had to open the window making it very noisy. The TV didn't work and a hotel employee came ton our room but weren’t sure how to fix it as it was one of the older TV’s. Towels were really quite small and robes for spa use felt like they were children's size. We asked at reception for larger ones but were told they are all one size, however staff at the spa told us that the reception staff say that as they can’t be bothered to check and happily gave us bigger sizes. Evening meals were ok, I appreciate they are catering for lots of people but more choice would’ve been nice. I have to agree with other reviews the mattress and pillows are really uncomfortable and the mattress springs could be felt and heard with every movement. These definitely need upgrading. This hotel does need a bit of renovating in some areas but it’s ok. The fire and ice experience was good but could be longer and the 30 minute massage was good. Friday nights entertainer wasn’t great but Saturday nights female entertainer was incredible. I don’t think I would stay here again as there are better hotels offering spa breaks for the same price.

My wife, grand daughter and I have just spent the weekend with our church at this hotel. The accommodation is excellent, as are the facilities. Our only complaint is about the service in the restaurant! Ben, the maître d', was certainly tested by our group. I think he and his very young staff did a good job, considering how fussy and finicky our group are!! There were delays in ordering food, there were no teaspoons anywhere [ever! ] . The young staff need training/reminding to keep an eye on replenishing items, before they run out! [Decaff coffee and normal teabags, milk, eggs on the servery, plates on the servery and teaspoons]. Please note this is not really a complaint, as our table seemed to be better off than others. Thank you for all you did for us.

What a fantastic stay we have had, such brilliant staff, clean comfortable room we were a family of four and a couple of fussy eaters but Mike the Chef was fantastic substituting food to make us happy, I would certainly come back.
