The room was pleasant enough and reasonably well appointed although rather tired looking. We stayed for 5 nights on a large booking with 60 + other people so there had been some organisation to put this stay together. The breakfast was chaotic with wrongly delivered meals and undrinkable coffee. The packed lunches were poor and several I threw away. The evening meals that I had were poor, indeed two were not edible and when I complained the head waiter refused to accept my word and was rude to me. One meal, the main course, took 20 minutes to arrive. One member of staff was extremely rude to me on two occasions, bad tempered and just plain unpleasant. Other staff were very pleasant. A glass of wine was £10. I wouldn’t stay here again.

One star at five star prices this is a hotel that must be given a wide berth. We came here for a function for two nights. Hotel and rooms very much going back to the 1980s and very much in need of a total refurbishment all over. Bedroom of which I can say was a box room lack of storage and still using blankets on the beds when most hotels have been upgraded. Breakfast next morning was poor pastries and croissants where dry and look like they had been there since they opened cooked breakfast was no flavour or colour to it coffee was like I have no word for that. After going out for the evening and coming back at just after 11.00pm we then get in the lift to go back into our rooms and the lift then breaks down we are then stuck in the lift for ten minutes with the night porter and manager trying to find the key to get the doors open but within this time the emergency bell and intercom in the lift are not working so don’t use the lift by the lounge areas basically he’s telling me that the intercom system working this is a hotel that I will not recommend in this area as for the price we paid there are better hotels ie Grand hotel or the imperial hotel

Absolutely superb. Guests were their first consideration, couldn't do enough for people with needs, extra requirements or general questions. Stayed in a nearby hotel last Christmas, horrendous. Vowed I would never go back but this one was first class. Comfortable, superb food, as much as anyone could eat, good accommodation, nothing to fault. attention to detail impressive. Will definitely revisit asap.

I’m local to this hotel and have been with friends for a wonderful festive pre Christmas dinner! Great choice for each course and the food perfectly cooked and served. The staff are all friendly attentive. Service from a bygone era. Amazing! 🎄🎄🎄

Went on a mystery trip with my mom with a local coach company called Mystic Isle.we ended up at this remarkable hotel, for 2 nights half board.well firstly we were greeted with free tea and coffee while our cases were taken to our room by very smartly dressed porters.our twin room was lovely overlooking the sea and it looked like it had been modernised recently with new curtains ,head board and chairs. Our evening meal consisted of 4 courses and wow what a choice, silver service by very friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble.the food was outstanding the evening meal and breakfast was delicious. The hotel is very traditional English, burgundy and dark wood everywhere but with all the Xmas decorations, fireplaces, ballroom etc I loved it.The morning we left on the coach the chefs ,manager and staff came outside to wave us off,I would definitely go back.

Probably the worst nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. The mattress was awful. Slightly rounded, and bouncy like a trampoline. Also very small bed, so if either person moved the other got bounced about as well

I stayed at the Livermead in September. The staff members were very nice and food was pleasant. However, in our group none of us had a comfortable bed. The hotel was generally run down. The bath panel in my en-suite was broken and the shower head was fixed on to the hose by tape. I can accept the old fashioned decor but really it should be all in good condition. There was a perfectly good coffee machine behind the bar, but only one member of staff appeared to be able to operate it and if they weren’t there then they tried to talk you into a cup of percolated coffee instead. Staying here was definitely like a trip back into the past, but not in a good way. I would not stay here again.
