There are many structures in Italy that date back to 1100 and earlier. Some have been well restored and repurposed for the comfort of travellers who want to be surrounded by beauty, enriched with culture and treated like royalty. This is one of those properties. None of this could be possible without people: Helena, the architect of the project, her gracious husband and partner Eduardo and Laura, Eduardo's mother, a sommelier, great host and keeper of recipes I am trying to acquire. I registered for three days, stayed for five and left because I had other commitments. Location is ideal for the Brunello experience in Montalcino, the Pecorino cheese phenomenon of Pieza (look for the shop jammed with eager customers), the compelling hill town of Montepulciano and numerous other Tuscany villages, restaurants and lovely folks. The concept is to renovate village houses into hotel rooms while providing breakfast and other amenities in another building. The rooms were nice, not great, but I still loved the concept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the ”Palazzo” a few hundred meters away on a semi-covered outdoor patio. Breakfast was excellent but in late September it can feel like camping out. Shivering while sipping your coffee is not quite a luxury experience. We were here on a bike tour. We have toured throughout Europe and many times in Italy. This is the very first hotel I have ever encountered which charges to store bikes in a garage: 5 euros per bike per night. We were there for 6 days. I could understand if we had e-bikes that needed to be plugged into a power source, but ours were just leaned against the wall - for 5 euros each per night. Also be aware that the pool is off limits unless you are staying in the Palazzo. And the nice outdoor patio, you can only use it if you buy drinks from the bar. Lastly the staff at the front desk were thoroughly disagreeable. It was as if they didn't understand that we were the guests and their job was to welcome and assist us, not that we asked for much more than room keys. Having said that, the restaurant staff were gracious, friendly and accommodating. Again, I loved the concept, but the execution needs some work. Would I stay here again? Nope.

Structure in the historic centre of Pienza, from an old monastery, service and top-top reception, should only be equipped with some rooms with a 4-star accessory (kit courtesy, But for the rest, it is a nice place. I booked a classic room, not in the main building, But the website did not explain this situation, and the other rooms in the main building are more beautiful, and it feels more advanced, it feels like a hotel. Abbiamo soggiornato per una sola notte in questo delizioso B&B situato in un palazzo d’epoca nel piccolo borgo di Serre di Rapolano. La nostra camera era la Glicine ampia, dotata di ogni comfort e pulitissima così come tutti gli altri spazi comuni. La colazione, con ottime torte fatte in casa, viene servita in un grande salone. Un plauso particolare va all’accoglienza riservataci dalla simpatica e vulcanica Yudi, pronta a fornirci tutte le indicazioni utili al nostro breve soggiorno.

I wouldn't know how to describe this oasis of peace, located on the magical hills of the Val d'Orcia with a wonderful view of Montepulciano. A place where you can be good, relax and enjoy everything that people and products of the territory can give. Yeah, because Mars' sympathy and kindness make you good and make you feel comfortable. The rest is made by the room, very nice and with a very comfortable bed (this may be the same quality for the coats) and a spacious breakfast! All at no mile, wonderful bread, affected by the place and so many typical sweets really sensational (I can't forget the crostaceous of the cotton apple and the cantuccis, fantastic)! I count more than honestly, I can only advise you this structure if you stop in the area, you will not regret it.

The hotel was changed before departure. The son thinks it is the best hotel in the whole journey. The breakfast room overlooks the Tuscan landscape, the most important is the swimming pool, and it takes up the entire pool in the morning!
