Even though it's an old hotel, the service is really top notch.

The breakfast was good, the surroundings were quiet and the rooms were clean. Good for smoking on the balcony

There were 8 of us in the group. All of us were given a room on the 6th floor that has no elevator. I explained nicely to the hotel receptionist (on duty on 31 Aug 24, 4pm, her name started with T) that I injured my leg and would like to have a room on elevator floor. She said NO and refuse to change it at all without explanation. She just asked me to try. Given no choice, I dragged my injured leg up the stairs to the 6th floor after the elevator stopped on the 5th floor. The room was average but clean, the view from the balcony was laundry from the adjacent building. I didn’t really mind the view since I can close the curtains to shut the horrible sight off. Importantly, I figured out that I can’t be climbing the stairs again to prevent aggravating my injury. I went down to the reception to request for a change of room. The same receptionist argued rudely back that I didn’t reject the room earlier. I was shocked! Then reluctantly she gave me the key to a room on the elevator floor and asked me to move the luggages myself! I am sharing this to alert travellers considering this hotel to be aware that the elevator doesn’t serve every floor and Deluxe with Balcony may not have a view you like. Finally, I would not conclude that one poor customer focus receptionist reflects the whole hotel management style, just to be fair. I just counted myself unlucky to have met that receptionist.
