I do not know how this hotel got anything above a 1 star. I booked a king size room on 6/1/22 for my 7/15/22 trip. I checked in the hotel at about 9:30 pm on the 15th only to find that King I had booked had been downsized to a double mildewed handicap. What I found was deplorable. The room smelled of wet/ mildew when we entered. The microwave was so dusty on top that I wrote my name on it to show how thick the dust was. There was some sort of crusty subsatance that was left on the glass shelf that the microwave sat on that had been left there by the previous guest or previous previous guest. There was a white substance on the couch that look like bodily secretions that they did not try to get out. It left a white stain. We went to check on the air because it appeared the room was not getting cold and my husband sock was literally soaked because the floor was soaked by the air condition ( that explains the mildewy smell). The shower had not been cleaned. It had long stringy brownish blond hair on the wall in 3 different places. We called downstairs to complain to the guy who was there ( the nicest in this whole establishment). He stated that we need to call the mgr Linda in the morning and that she would be more than happy to help us. Well Linda must have been only accomodating to him because she was horrible to us. My husband made a call from the room and gave her the details of why we were unhappy. The conversation went left when Linda put words in my husbands mouth stating that we wanted to check out. We never said anything about checking out.She even went on to tell us that she and her husband or boyfriend slept in a double bed ( what did that have to do with us?). She stated that my husband was raising his voice ( he wasn't. He was trying to get her to undersrand our issue while she overtalked him and disregared his complaint and request to comp the room for the night. The only solution she had was basically leave or they will send someone to clean the room. My husband and I decided to stay in the room in fear of being moved to a room worse than we had and we didn't allow them to clean the room because our valuables were there and it seemed like there was no protection of any kind if we had a problem. As Linda overtalked my husband...she hung up on him. We got dressed and went out for lunch. I did not speak with Linda when I passed her outside on a break smoking a vape. I didn't even know if that was her but assumed it was since she had on a front desk uniform. When I returned 2 hours later....I spoke with her about the incident stating the facts. Though she was much nicer face to face...I found out that she couldn't really do anything about my complaint. She apologized and I also addressed the issue of her hanging up on my husband..she said that she didnt but clearly she did. My husband did not speak at all during this conversation. We left and received a email address so that I could provide the pics and video I took to their GM.Meg

First, the two workers in the office that I dealt with were extremely nice. Also, the A/C worked good as well as the TV. That's all of the good. First, I hate being charged $165 because it's gameday where they usually charge about $60. I hate that all the hotels in town do this. I can't believe it's legal. Now, soooo much nastiness. Soon as we walked into the room a roach ran out from under the bed to under the dresser. I moved the dresser and killed it. Then within a few minutes another roach ran out from under the chair. I proceeded to kill it too. At this point, along with all else we could see, we wanted our money back. Since it was game-day in T-town every hotel is booked and we live 5 hours away. So we chose to endure. After I showered and began drying off with a towel that smelled as if it was washed and used once or twice I noticed a light scratching against my body. I looked and the dang towel had a sticker on it that was a recently used VISITORS PASS FROM THE LOCAL HOSPITAL DATED JUST 2 DAYS BEFORE!. The floor was nasty. The chair was stained and nasty. It's a ”Non-Smoking” room but you definitely get choked by the stench of old smoke and nicotine renaissance that lingers in the paint, sheetrock and everything else. Every piece of plastic in the room was heavily stained from the years of cigarette smoke. I know this cause I grew up with everyone in my family smoking except me. So they've changed none of this. Looks terrible. The sink knob was broken. The bath tub was a very old whirlpool tub that no longer worked, not that we wanted to use it. The tub and shower inset looked like years ago it was painted with home latex paint and it was now pealing. The shower curtain was stained yellow and had mold and mildew stains all over it. The shower curtain rod was barely hanging on. I could go on and on. I was raised very poor by a disabled single mother, living in the project. I've slept in homeless shelters, lived on the street, slept where I could. Thankfully many years later I have been able to end up successful in life. But saying that, this hotel is nearly as bad as anything I've lived or stayed in and I paid a lot of money to stay here.

My first hotel visit, post-pandemic, The Indigo Inn, Tuscaloosa, offered a clean, beautifully decorated space to work and relax. The Overlook, the rooftop restaurant, is a lovely venue with a panoramic view of the river. The staff is hospitable and helpful, especially Maegan @ the front desk. Pack your walking shoes for a stroll along the nearby riverwalk.

The hotel was just built, so the facilities were clean and the room was in good condition. The staff at the reception desk were so friendly and the breakfast was good because I could eat breakfast with English muffins, juice coffee bagels, bread, yogurt, fruits, etc.
