My first hotel visit, post-pandemic, The Indigo Inn, Tuscaloosa, offered a clean, beautifully decorated space to work and relax. The Overlook, the rooftop restaurant, is a lovely venue with a panoramic view of the river. The staff is hospitable and helpful, especially Maegan @ the front desk. Pack your walking shoes for a stroll along the nearby riverwalk.

First, the two workers in the office that I dealt with were extremely nice. Also, the A/C worked good as well as the TV. That's all of the good. First, I hate being charged $165 because it's gameday where they usually charge about $60. I hate that all the hotels in town do this. I can't believe it's legal. Now, soooo much nastiness. Soon as we walked into the room a roach ran out from under the bed to under the dresser. I moved the dresser and killed it. Then within a few minutes another roach ran out from under the chair. I proceeded to kill it too. At this point, along with all else we could see, we wanted our money back. Since it was game-day in T-town every hotel is booked and we live 5 hours away. So we chose to endure. After I showered and began drying off with a towel that smelled as if it was washed and used once or twice I noticed a light scratching against my body. I looked and the dang towel had a sticker on it that was a recently used VISITORS PASS FROM THE LOCAL HOSPITAL DATED JUST 2 DAYS BEFORE!. The floor was nasty. The chair was stained and nasty. It's a ”Non-Smoking” room but you definitely get choked by the stench of old smoke and nicotine renaissance that lingers in the paint, sheetrock and everything else. Every piece of plastic in the room was heavily stained from the years of cigarette smoke. I know this cause I grew up with everyone in my family smoking except me. So they've changed none of this. Looks terrible. The sink knob was broken. The bath tub was a very old whirlpool tub that no longer worked, not that we wanted to use it. The tub and shower inset looked like years ago it was painted with home latex paint and it was now pealing. The shower curtain was stained yellow and had mold and mildew stains all over it. The shower curtain rod was barely hanging on. I could go on and on. I was raised very poor by a disabled single mother, living in the project. I've slept in homeless shelters, lived on the street, slept where I could. Thankfully many years later I have been able to end up successful in life. But saying that, this hotel is nearly as bad as anything I've lived or stayed in and I paid a lot of money to stay here.
