Stayed here just one night on our way down to Trolltunga. Lovely older hotel in an absolutely idyllic and tranquil setting. The dinner was lovely but the breakfast was only "okay." The staff had many guests on their hands but even so at times it felt like we were intruding and the hospitality was not quite as strong as everywhere else we have visited in Norway.

Magic stay at a great hotel with fantastic food experience. Both breakfast and dinner was very tasteful and based on local ingredients. Friendly Staff and a Chef that passionately shared his cooking philosophy and recipes. Also recommends to visit some of the local Cider makers during your stay.

A simple, charming, small, traditional family-run hotel on the edge of Hardangerfjord. Bedroom was ok, although the bed was very soft, with a strange mattress / topper arrangement. Bathroom (shower, no bath) was good. Fjord-view rooms look out over the terrace (noisy until 2300/2330) and the ferry docking station, which is noisy when a ferry arrives/departs - the first is 0630 during the week, 0730/0830(Sat/Sun). The rest of the time, it’s very quiet. But great views of the fjord! Breakfast buffet is good, although no hot dishes offered. Dinner is very good indeed. Wi-fi works ok. Overall, a nice little hotel for a couple of nights. But the price is ridiculous. It’s a simple, 3-star hotel. But there are not many options in the area.

Staying at this 300 year old historic hotel was a dream come true. The surrounding beauty and lovely accommodations made this a top memory of our Norway trip. The rooms were impeccable and even with the windows open sleep was easy on the comfortable bed. We really enjoyed the five course meal for dinner where the service and food was impressive. We learned that Edvard Grieg stayed here many times, wrote music, and played the piano . We wished we could of stayed longer. Maybe we will return some day to this gem of a hotel!

The hotel is situated in an excellent location in a small village right by the fjord. Next year it will have its 300th birthday. The rooms are quite small, but also simple. Our historic double room had fjord view. In the public rooms the hotel is quite stylish. The parking area is not directly in front of the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, so our luggage was brought to us via a very steep spiral staircase to the room on the second floor. Thank you! The small breakfast buffet was ok. The evening meal was remarkable. But there is no alternative in the place. Our conclusion: The ratio of price and performance is not quite right.

Utne Hotel is absolutely unique! An unbroken 300 year history as hotel makes it the oldest continously run hotel in Norway! These 300 years fill the hotel with charm, history, wonderful things, and quirky corners, The steps are marked by people's travels, the floors are listing and squeek, and there are no TVs in any of the rooms! Still, the hotel is so incredibly well kept, taken care of with love, attention to details, and hours and hours of hard work! Staff are just incredibly helpful and positive. This makes Utne Hotel a destination in its own right, and the hotel itself provides probably the only reason to stay exactly at Utne: It really merits an extra stop-over to or from Bergen, or when touring the beautiful Hardanger region! Nearly forgot to mention the restaurant that serves excellent food, although a set menu, except for breakfast.
