Rio Sagrado, A Belmond Hotel, Sacred Valley

Doesn’t meet Belmond expectations. 1. Food is average, the same we had in a small village, change a chef, not tasty at all. 2. On a breakfast waiters ALWAYS bring fruits and after 5 min asking if I need them. Why on earth I should eat fruits in 5 min? And why do you need it? Quality and variety of breakfast is not nice — all days we had not fresh blueberries. In my home country I have blueberries from Peru and it’s fresher. How it is possible? 3. Welcome is not in Belmond style: no champagne or good chocolate. 4. One day we asked to clean the room before 12, they did, we came and I was sure we are alone in the room. When I was naked I saw a gardener in our private terrace. He also saw me. How it’s possible he entered our terrace when I was in the room????? With no bell and knocking???? 5. Alpacas feeding is also trash: all people from hotel come, you will never get nice pictures like on instagram. Why you don’t make it by appointment? We had a lot of experiences with animals in different countries , this one is the worst. 6. Stuff is not well trained, communication is super artificial. Place is beautiful, but that’s it. Worst Belmond we have been to. Ask Monasterio Belmond about good experience and top notch service.

Officially our 1st stop on our Peru tour - a quick 1 hour flight from Lima and another 90min drive from Cusco to the Sacred Valley. It was a very interesting drive (shortcuts to avoid main roads). But the destination was so worth the anticipation. At Belmond Hotel Rio Sagrado we found our little piece of paradise. It’s peaceful. Tranquil. And the perfect place to acclimate to the new altitude of approx 2700m above sea level. I’d strongly suggest not staying in Cusco and spending all your time doing day trips (and hours in a shuttle) to explore the Sacred Valley. Rather stay here and explore at a leisurely pace - with all the key “must see” spots fairly close

Our stay at Rio Sagrado was truly unforgettable. The peaceful location in the Sacred Valley was the perfect escape, surrounded by breathtaking scenery and the calming sounds of nature. A special highlight was the baby alpaca feeding experience — such a unique and heartwarming moment that made our stay even more memorable. The beautiful setting, thoughtful service, and wonderful experiences made Rio Sagrado feel like a true sanctuary in Peru. We would absolutely love to return!

I don’t know where to begin with this incredible hotel. From the moment we arrived we were treated like superstars, it left us speechless. After days of intense travelling in Peru with all its highs and lows we arrived here dishevelled and exhausted. Javier asked my husband on arrival what his favourite drink is, he told him it’s a Pisco Sour and 5 min later later arriving in our stunning and tranquil oasis of a room there was a Pico Sour waiting for him on the terrace. Everyone here is thoughtful, interesting and passionate about their job. They will share about themselves with you, which is beyond amazing service, I’ve learned so much and it deepened my love for Peru even more. The kids were in heaven by the pool, I mean, there are alpacas walking through saying hello, it’s almost other worldly! The food was just spectacular. I met the head chef and thanked him for the amazing picnic he prepared for us, every little bit of the beautifully laid out titbits looked so inviting, we ate it all and we had thought it was too much! A special thank you to Maribel who got in touch days before our arrival checking all our preferences and even helping me on her day off with directions, all via WhatsApp, plus also checked in with me after we had left - special! She is such an attribute to the Belmond Rio Sagrado. Thank you to a wonderful team, in a wonderful hotel in the most wonderful part of the world. …and one more thank you, the kind gentleman at reception even cleaned our car for us (and it was in a bad state!) Where can I even start with how much we loved this place. The literal minute you arrive to a small Andean ceremony to the attentive and warm check-in process to the lovely and comfortable rooms and the surprisingly sophisticated dining…every day we felt grateful to be there. Everyone knew our names and room, we were greeted by name all over the property. Each day there were little surprises in our room, turndown service with hot water bottle sheep, and small touches that made our stay one of the best and we travel internationally often. Some shout outs, Julio, Maribel and Gricella at the front office who couldn’t do enough for us, Bernie, David and of course the amazing Sabrina in the restaurant, Yessica and Monica who did outstanding facials and massages in the spa, and Jose who drove us around the property in the golf cart. The baby alpaca feeding is part of the included experiences, they are very cute, but once their bottles are done they don’t want to know you so get your pets in fast! I seriously can’t say enough about the amazing and truly exceptional guest experience the staff at the Rio Sagrado provides. Everyone can’t do enough for you and it is a genuine sentiment, you feel welcome like honored guests every day.

the best hotel at valae sagrado, amazing staff, amazing food, amazing experience. all the staff really amicable and attentive to our needs, the alcapas at the garden are really something, my kids loved it.

I normally don’t assign superlatives to reviews, but our experience during our visit was nothing short of stellar. The level of service, attention to detail, friendliness of the staff, as well as the food quality paired with the location and ambiance made this one of our favorite hotels of all time.

We had an exceptional stay from the moment we were shown to our beautiful garden villa with a stunning view of the mountains and the Urubamba River river flowing closeby. We loved the quiet tranquility being in the valley and I loved my early morning yoga class sitting close to the river. So many little touches such as our English Breakfast Tea Bags and fresh milk being brought to our room for us. All the wonderful cacau choclates each evening and the abundance of water bottles making sure we never dehydrated as were in a very high altitude. It was wonderful to be able to feed the Alpaca's their milk and provided wonderful photographs. Exceptional staff were Alyandro, Food & Beverage Manager, Sabrina, our waitress and Eddy.
