This is a spectacular building with very luxurious pool and spa facilities.

The concept of the hotel being a renovated building is very interesting. The bathroom in the room is large, but it is not separated from wet and dry. The design of the water drainage is not reasonable, and because it is in a hard water area, the experience of washing hair is not pleasant. But the service is the same as other facilities. It's all good!

I wanted to love this place! I wouldn’t have traveled to the middle of nowhere had I thought I would have had un unsatisfactory visit. My expectation was to have a relaxing spa weekend. I went directly to the spa for my first service after check in. The staff were very warm and friendly but I was very disappointed with the facial. I paid 110€ basically for mud to sit and dry on my face for an hour. No shoulder massage during. After the spa was dinner time. I emailed 4 days before my arrival for a reservation. I was told to wait 30 min when I arrived there was only one other table. The food was another disappointment but based on other reviews I read this wasn’t a big surprise. I started with a cold eggplant parmigiana really lacking flavor, the pasta was a heavy butter sauce overly salty. Well, time for a good nights rest. I tuck into my suit which I paid to for an upgrade. The bed was too firm for my backs liking. I woke the next day with a painful back I thought I would go to the spa for a massage but based on the previous day thought I would be left with another disappointment. I decided to call it quits and check out early. As a compensation to not leave I was offered a complimentary cheese board. I really didn’t feel like stuffing myself with cheese after this disappointing stay so I left the cheese behind packed my bags and headed out of town. Overall, the hotel has potential to be great. The renovations were beautifully done. Perhaps lacking a bit of soul with the decorations but with proper management and design a well trained spa team it could be great. Wish you the best but this time was a big flop.

Stunning architecture and decor at this hotel! What a gorgeous place. Our room had high ceilings with a beautiful chandelier. We ate dinner and breakfast at the hotel- both were very good. The pool is very pretty. It was nice to have a fitness room too- though it was pretty basic. There was a place to charge our car in the hotel parking lot. The staff at check-in were capable but somewhat perfunctory- didn't offer to help us with our luggage.

I stayed here with my husband for our last night of a visit to Valenciennes for my sister's wedding. Room - we had a standard double which was really nice, comfortable and well equipped. It was quiet and we weren't disturbed by other guests. It was finished to a high standard. Facilities - we used the gym and the indoor pool while we were there. The indoor pool was really lovely but a bit noisy when a large group was there, they took over most of the sun loungers which wasn't great for other guests. I also expected a sauna/steam room for use by guests but there wasn't. When compared to the rest of the hotel, the gym was so lacking. When I first went in, I thought there must be another room but there wasn't. The gym isn't in keeping with the rest of the hotel and I would expect more from a hotel like this. Food and drink - we had dinner in the Galerie restaurant. We had three courses and the food was delicious and the setting lovely. We then went to the main bar afterwards but only had one cocktail each (which were great) as we were too full from dinner. We had breakfast in the Galerie the next morning and this was excellent. A really good breakfast buffet. Staff - I think I expected more from the staff in a hotel of this caliber. At check in, they did what they needed to do but I didn't feel like a valued customer and I didn't really feel like they gave each guest the same attention. Coming to this hotel was a treat for us and would be for a lot of others and the check in/check out didn't make it feel that way. The staff in the Galerie were much more attentive and friendly and much more like what I would expect. Notwithstanding my comments above, this is a stunning hotel and I would come back but I do think improvements should be made to the gym and overall staff attentiveness to guests on check in/check out.

Amazing hotel. The renovation of this ancient military hospital is absolutely stunning. There is nothing to say on the hotel itself but that it’s gorgeous. However, the service is not up to standards of a 4 star hotel. With exception to the bartender who was extremely friendly, the staff is primarily composed on very young adults, uninterested, who need to be urgently trained. We have not seen anyone senior, no Hotel Manager in charge of the customers, and their well-being while on stay. Similarly, the restaurant La Galerie is a nice brasserie but not a gastronomic - as they pretend when you make the reservation. It’s such a shame as the building itself is really fantastic. A bit of customer care would make all the difference.

We had a great time in a prestigious setting. Framework combining history and modernity, in short the Luxury of today without forgetting the past. Friendly and professional staff. Spa that makes you want to stay there for a long time

This former hospital has been renovated into an architectural gem, with the 13 m high majestic glass lobby as an eye-catcher. The historical elements are highlighted, premium materials have been used for the furnishing of the halls, the rooms, suites, restaurants and SPA; The SPA area with the emblematic blue stone posts is really impressive, and it is dug under the foundations..

We booked the Royal suite for two nights at a cost of €784 a night. Obviously had fairly high expectations. Since driving from London in the early morning we requested a 3 pm instead of 4 pm check-in. The response was that the hotel was completely full the night before therefore, they could not guarantee that the room would be ready. On arrival at 4 pm we waited 15 minutes as the receptionist was checking out other people. We asked for help with our luggage and went with the luggage man to the room, he did not have the key, it was still at reception, so I went back and had to wait again as the receptionist was on the phone, and the other receptionist said she did not have the key ! As soon as I saw the room, I was a little surprised that there were no bathrooms ensuite, and there was just one toilet in the entrance lobby of the room, then a full bathroom with double sink, shower and bath. One bedroom oddly had simply a shower room with no door attached to the bedroom. No door for the shower and no door between the shower and the bedroom. I wrote to *********** saying that the specification advertised for four people with ensuite bathrooms was incorrect. The automatic message was to talk with the hotel, I wrote to them via ***********. It was Sunday afternoon and we went directly to the swimming pool as our young daughter was very excited, totally surprised to see the whole pool area completely littered with towels, I would say 60 to 70 towels. No staff could be seen in the pool area. The pool is very nice, but extremely busy, the hotel sell day passes, and as a result, it is not really exclusive. We had dinner in the restaurant and it cost €150 for two adults and a child with two glasses of wine. High-end prices for basically low end bistro food, with very little taste. The service was actually appalling, quite surprising. Breakfast was standard, add any budget hotel in France. Nothing special whatsoever. The pool was far less full on Monday with no towels lying around. Most enjoyable. We went to a local restaurant for lunch called L'Escargot which was much cheaper and absolutely top-notch. For dinner, we ate in the room some lovely food we had picked up on the way as we wanted to utilise the dining table and certainly not the downstairs restaurant. The hotel is spectacular, but everything is cheaply made, all the furniture is of a very low quality and fit and finish of everything is not quite right. All the flowers are fake which seems a real shame. Another surprising point was that on our floor, the top floor which was the second floor corridors to our room were huge and long, with no heating on, all the radiators were cold, even though the night before was minus one. I never received a response to my mail, but at checkout they told me they had seen my mail and would respond to me in person. The initial response was that I was absolutely right regarding the facilities not being ensuite and that was the fault of ***********. Told me tha
