Just getting ready to check out this morning. Had a great stay. Rooms are spacious, modern, and nice. Mattresses are better than most resorts, but not as nice as some hotels. Beach is great when it's not windy or rainy. Out of 10 days, only 1 day was calm enough to have all the water activities available out at the beach. The Caribbean weather is fairly unpredictable and is susceptible to cold fronts. Pools are great too! Non-heated, so they are cold if it's not above 25°C outside. Location is good. 10 min walk to downtown. Very Safe! Restaurants: Ala Carte's are OK. 24 hrs Snack Bar = yuk 2 Buffets: Market Place & Rumba They are side by side. Rumba is usually less hectic. Market Place has a little more of selection, particularly for dinner. Each night they (MP) has Pig roasts, Turkey roasts, etc. Desserts and Bread are awesome! So remember, this is Cuba. They only have what is available to them locally. Lots of: pumpkin, banana, kale, tomato, fish, pork, papaya, cucumber, green pepper, mushrooms, chicken, etc. No: beef, hamburgers, corn, pasta, hot sauce, broccoli, salsa, chips, potatoes, fries, oranges or orange juice, or brand name soft drinks. But, it's all prepared well. Just limited on selection due to it being Cuba. Grounds: The grounds are OK. We'll maintained. Staff: Helpful and friendly enough. Summary: Be sure bring EVERYTHING you need. Cuba is not like Mexico where you can just pop in to your local farmacia and get clippers, dental floss, pain killers, cold medicine, etc. Things can be difficult to find at the government stores. That being said, the Cuban people are the BEST. And Cuba is VERY SAFE.
