The hotel is perfectly located, bang in the river ganges. Stunning views from the rooms and a few balconies attached. Cook is excellent. Staff behaviour is excellent. Wifi is poor. 500 yrs old heritage property which is unique.

500-600 metres away from main road and the road to reach hotel is by lanes only from main road. So you have to walk for 500-600 metres. Other than that ganges flow by the hotel. Nice food. Courteous staff and everything. Excellent by me

Initially we found it difficult to contact the property, however after contacting makemytrip, the hotel staff themselves called us to know our check in time and other details. The staffs were cooperative enough to arrange for a pick up as the hotel is located in the famous gal-is of benaras. Also they communicated well with my parents and gave clear instructions to reach a place from where help was given. I booked saptarshi suites for my parents after looking at the beautiful balcony view. Indeed the room was very beautiful and the balcony view was great. The hotel staff were courteous and helped my parents with ganga snan, shiv-ling darshan, allahabad brahman when approached. Mr. Abhijit, the manager and kamlesh another very humble staff helped my parents throughout. The food and breakfast was over the top. They had a good portioning sense, sufficient for healthy eating by two people. Lunch and dinner was tasty enough. Areas of improvement 1. Since the property is built on an old building, regular repair work is required to get rid of damp. (the work was going on when my parents visited) 2. The washroom needs to be cleaned regularly because damp insects from the drain have a tendency to come up. Other than these two points, the hotel is a great option for a wonderful stay in benares

Stayed for 3 nights. They changed our original room saptarshi, on the ground floor to a room in 2nd floor. The iron stair was very scary and difficult to climb. Both me and my wife are seventy plus and you can imagine the plight. After our protest they changed the room next day. Staff behaviour was the only consolation. Food was very oily and spicy. View of gang-es from saptarshi was superb.

Best in-budget hotel to stay if you want to stay near the dashashvamedh ghat. The only problem is that you have to walk 10 mins from the main road ( near satnam jwellers) and hence no parking. But the hotel management gracefully agreed to send some one to carry the luggages.

So this hotel is running bcoz of the location - which is excellent as it overlooks the ganges. Besides that nothing seems to be working for it: It is a Guest House at the price of a hotel. 1. The hotel is "DIRTY" & RUN DOWN- its a heritage property ( so to speak) however a. Filthy stair case ( as if they have not been cleaned for years), b. Stinky halls on ground floor , c. Cob webs in the rooms , d. Our bathroom room door was creaking and broken on the back. e. The fans were dirty as how . The hotel is an old palace - BUT that does'nt mean it that the upkeep can be dirty! 2. Incase you have done the booking by AGODA - they don't want to entertain such guests - the front office manager told us that point blank. Rather they really got after us to leave the room at 11 am .. so if u have a later train to catch donot expect an extension of time. There 's not even a decent reception to sit and wait in this case. 3. OLDER Citizens - this hotel has steep stairs and a number of them as all the rooms are on different levels .. hence if you have bad knees - pls stay away . Additionally , you need to walk for 500 mrs from the road to reach the hotel The ghats are also located approx 30 - 40 steps down. 4. BREAKFAST - very average food. 5. COST EFFECTIVENESS - it is a HUGELY OVERPRICED property - with a number of different rooms - which you will never know which is which!! and then the POOR upkeep and MEDIOCRE breakfast. 6. STAFF - Overall the staff which is working is cordial and helpful. NOTE - we absolutely love the location, BUT !
