Villa Monti

We stayed at Villa Monti for 8 nights in April 2025 and it was the perfect choice for a longer stay on Lake Como. Having kitchen facilities gave us the option to cook for ourselves after a busy day of exploring rather than trying to find a restaurant if we were late getting back to Varenna. We have stayed previously on Lake Como and I can honestly say Villa Monti is as good as it gets at this price point. The views from our terrace were spectacular and we spent many a night there enjoying a glass of red as the sun went down. Christian and the team were the perfect hosts, there if you need them, plenty of suggestions for excursions, but also allowing us space to really relax. Cannot recommend Villa Monti highly enough!

After our short cab ride from the train station, we were greeted by our host Christian. He was so friendly and thoroughly went through all the details of the villa and highlights of things to see and do. This place is amazing. Beautiful view, wonderful rooms. We had a room with a full kitchen that we stocked with breakfast goods from the local shops. Our friends had the Tulip room (studio apartment) that has its own terrace. What an amazing experience. Like anywhere on the coast of Italy, there are steps. Of course if you want a nice view, you have to climb some.

I can totally recommend a stay at villa Monti - the photos don't do it justice it’s even more incredible in real life. I loved the way you were just a little way out from main square (only 5 mins) but it was very peaceful. The decor had so much care and beautiful design put into it. The sofa bed was actually really comfortable and doing yoga and eating breakfast out on the terrace was my favourite thing to do. The hosts Christian and MG were a delight and were so helpful without feeling intrusive

Loved this place. Christian checked us in and was incredibly knowledgeable about Varenna. He explained the hotel very well. The hotel is well located and very very quiet. It had everything we needed. We especially loved the view from the balcony. The deck chairs and umbrella made it so pleasant in the afternoons. We would stay again.

My wife and our 9 year old daughter enjoyed 4 nights here. The room (Geranium) was perfect for us. Offering great space for the three of us. Having a kitchen was great as well. The patio for the room is unbelievable and we made good use of the pool. Staff is also extremely helpful and welcoming. I searched for a long time to find accommodations in the middle of the lake. We were so happy we chose Varenna and this hotel.

We visited Lake Como and Villa Monti for 3 nights during a European road tour from England. Wow what a location...the views are incredible and so is the host Christian with his cute doggy who made our stay wonderful. The entrance to the villa is up a tricky slope but Christian was there to greet us and helped us get our luggage up the flights of stairs to the lilac apartment. He took time to explain great restaurants and when best to visit Bellagio over the holiday weekend. He helped us with parking. Our kids loved the little pool to cool off in. Plus the gardens have plenty of space to accommodate all the guests staying. The apartment itself was spotless, well equipped and even had a washing machine. Ice was made up ready for us in the freezer too with cold beer, wine, prosecco and soft drinks which you just pay for at the end. Vareena is a beautiful little town. It has a small beach where you can access the lake without paying a lido charge. In August it can be incredibly busy around the lake but Villa Monti is just a 5 mins walk to the main square and offers a tranquil spot away from the crowds to enjoy the spectacular views.
