The best hotel n restaurant experience ever. It was a magical visit with incredible hotel n garden area, unbelievable helpful, friendly courteous staff. Rooms were lovely n complete stay was perfect. Family run hotel near the ferry in an elegant building. Titti, the matriarch of the hotel, went out of her way to insure that we had 3 wonderful nights in Varenna. Good breakfast. We’d go back

We stayed in a superior room with a balcony overlooking the lake. We enjoyed late afternoon drinks overlooking the coming and going of the ferries from our balcony. The upgrade is well worth the little bit extra cost and the room was huge!! Access to neighboring towns is literally at your doorstep and there are excellent restaurants, including Prato and La Vista within 400m walk! The service was so welcoming and hospitable! We had to leave early in the morning before breakfast and the owner organized for a breakfast to be available for pick up the night before! Plus they made us a cappuccino in a take away cup as we were leaving even though breakfast was not open! The cappuccino’s are excellent! We loved Varenna and would definitely return if ever we do Lake Como again

What a great hotel!!! The location was the best. We got picked up for an excursion and rented a boat, and both were right outside the hotel. There were also many restaurants and shops within walking distance. The breakfast was great! Our room was in the annex which was no problem at all. It was comfortable and spacious and we slept great! The service was outstanding; from the ladies who checked us in and out to the restaurant staff and everything else we encountered. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Varenna!!!

We stayed in the a triple superior room in the ANNEX, which is located up a charming alley, just adjacent from the main hotel. The location cannot be beat, just steps from the ferry, and with a view of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains. The room was spacious and clean. We had a king bed and a single bed, they also welcomed us with three bottles of water and a bottle of Prosecco for me. There was also an incredibly large patio with an amazing view. The included breakfast is wonderful, as is the restaurant for dinner. Excellent accommodations for the value, would highly recommend.

Wonderful hotel with lovely, comfortable rooms. Hotel is in fantastic location. The staff in particular is extraordinary. Very kind, thoughtful and helpful. They really made the stay wonderful. Highly recommend!

We got off the public ferry in a thunderstorm on 21st May 2025 and went directoly to this hotel for refuge and to have some coffee/lunch. We all LOCKED OUT of the hotel by the owner/manager who refused to let us inside. There were about 20 people in total. This is NOT the way to treat tourists/customers. the storm continued for one hour

Very clean hotel. I would caution to ask for a room floor 3 or below. The lift only goes to third floor and you need to carry suit cases to the top floor. Breakfast served from 7:30 and extensive offerings. The service from the staff was very good and happy to help.

Had a lovely stay here. Excellent location and a lovely room. The service was excellent. Situated right on the front so ideal for the ferries and amazing view over the lake. Only a few minutes walk to most of the attractions in the town. Highly recommend staying.

We had an attic room, which came with a ceiling window (with a block out blind) and another where the floor met the wall and looked out over Lake Como (see photo). That was a nice surprise! The room was well sized for two travellers. The furniture was old but in a good way that added to the charm. Fridge was restocked daily with complimentary sparkling and still water. The bathroom had toiletries including earplugs. On the weekend, the ferry announcements can be loud if you have the window open (which we did), so the earplugs were appreciated! The reason we had the window open was because. The air conditioning has set hours, but the room, being directly warmed by the ceiling window, would get quite warm. Brekky was a small but delicious buffet with the ability to order coffee and tea. All staff were very friendly. The elevator is very small and slow, and didn’t actually go to the top floor so we had to carry luggage up the last flight of stairs which wasn’t great, but obviously only something you have to do once! The rest of the time we used the stairs which seemed to be what most guests did.

loved the location, it was close to the ferry, but not too loud. the suites and the view were incredible. when can I go back? You can see the lake and the mountains from the room, and the staff was very nice. The room was clean and traditional, classic.

We stayed at Hotel Oliveda this week. It is located just across from the ferry and easy walking distance from the train station. This venerable and iconic hotel has been owned by the same family for generations. The entire staff goes above and beyond for their guests. The view from our room #21 was breathtaking. The rooms were neat and clean and the bed was very comfortable. Last night we slept with the window open listening to the waves of Lake Como gently lapping on the shore whilst we slept with warm blankets. Great antidote to jet lag. We highly recommend that you have Bakar (spelling?) make you an espresso martini as a dessert drink. The best on Lake Como.

This family run hotel and adjoining restaurant were a delightful and warm highlight of my Italian vacation. The location right on the lake provides guests with a fantastic view and an opportunity to observe the ferry arriving and departing, or to jump over to another town on the lake. Most of Varenna is quite steep but there are easier walking routes from this hotel where guests can access the main square. The service was amazing. Everyone, but mostly the proprietress, went out of their way to assist in any way possible. Breakfast was quite tasty but it did not compare with the incredible lunch on my second day, seated outside to enjoy the fresh air and watch the ferry. It was one of the best meals I enjoyed during my trip.

Room was ready even though we showed up quite early. Very welcoming. Seemed to know what we needed before we did. Great breakfast. Nice attached restaurant for lunch or just snack and coffee. Restaurant next door for dinner (or many options close by down the lakeside walk). Get a room with a view of the lake and you won’t be disappointed. Nice balcony to stand a watch the lake, boats & crowd down below. HIGHLY recommend.
