South Venice Lodge

Mostly good. Just little things: fridge is weak, nowhere close to get ice. Plugs fall out of wall outlet. TV set up for Spanish: Roku wouldn’t change it so I watched shows on my iPhone. It’s nice being able to walk the canals.

If it were all about location, this place would be five stars. Steps from the canals, a short walk to excellent coffee, shopping, and the infamous Erehwon, the beach, this quaint apartment offers excellent location value. It's the tedious "Airbnb" style rules that complicate the arrive process - double-check the arrival hrs. I had to call/text for several minutes to get into the place. The off-site manager was very responsive, possibly because me showing up for check in at 4pm shouldn't have been such a hassle. The building itself isn't manned. For a five night stay, I didn't see any staff or a cleaning crew once. Again, more tedious rules buried in the motel's instructions about cleaning. So if you run out of their special coffee pouches on the first day, you're on your own unless you want to pay (can't recall but it was $$$$ for cleaning service). So recycle your towels, keep the room clean, make your bed, try to keep the sand out. Water pressure is poor. The sink leaks. The kitchenette is well stocked with a working toaster, micro, fridge, dishes. The room was clean, bright, ventilated with working heater/ac. Parking is good for a compact car only. You'll need to park your range rover out front with the other derelict vehicles (this is Venice after all. They were parked out front during my whole stay) with the usual group of sketchy campers hanging around out front. Young families may seek safer areas. Internet connection not reliable for biz.

Fabulous efficiency units here @ South Venice Lodge! Farmer's Market Friday AM right outside my door! The always entertaining Venice Beach a short 3 block walk away!! Stay here!

Great location like 5 minute walk to beach. It's right where Venice Beach begins, like literally where the food and Muscle Beach is. We spent 2 days at the beach and walking in the area up to Santa Monica. Shops, markets, supermarkets, etc. Are relatively close. There was a parking space provided for unit 1A where we stayed which was absolutely clutch since we drove to Venice Beach. Unit was very clean and has coffee maker, cookware plates, etc. There is a washer and dryer in unit which is also very convenient for people traveling. My one complaint would be that on unit 1A, there are patio tables directly outside the bedroom window and in the morning other residents sat at them talking loudly, watching videos on phone, smoking cigarettes. Not a deal breaker but a mild annoyance. Still give 5/5 and would stay here again.
