A very good hotel, the food is delicious, but the price is a bit high. It feels like a waste for a business trip. The scenery is also very good. I will book it again next time. I still give it a five-star rating!

Everything was perfect !

A hotel that looks old on the outside but feels modern on the inside. On the banks of the river, right in the heart of Verdun, the hotel has its own secure parking onsite. Bedrooms are of a good size and offer air conditioning and quality fittings and fixtures. Rooms are very soundproofed and with windows shut you couldn’t even hear the morning church bells. The restaurant was shut but we were able to find eateries in the town so this was not an issue for us. Breakfast was of a good quality.

My wife and I were en route back to the UK after a holiday in Austria and Switzerland. We have stayed at this hotel in a prior year so we knew we would be comfortable. Our room was well appointed and comfortable and the buffet breakfast was of a high order. We had anticipated having dinner in the hotel but the dining room was closed so were obliged to find a restaurant in the town . The hotel was helpful in this context and booked us into what transpired to be a very good eatery! We had some time to spare during our time in Verdun and visited the First World War 'front-line' about 15 minutes drive north east out of town...............very moving and so glad we made the effort. Definitely recommended.

My wife and I stayed two nights at the hotel during our recent visit to the city of Verdun.We stayed in a deluxe double room, which was clean and spacious.The hotel is a jewel building for the city of Verdun. Central to everything in the city and within driving distance of the Verdun battlefield.The breakfast was one of the best we tried during our recent visit to north-east France.The reception manager was kind and helpful. The staff served us in everything we needed. But I would like a little more smile.In addition I was disappointed that we paid 25 euros to check in 2 hours earlier (check in at the hotel is at 16:00). We have traveled all over Europe and in many hotels they didn't charge us even for 7 hours early check in.

Great central location, with good parking and a beautiful view of the city. This was our second stay, but first in the peak summer months. However, the noise from the party barge directly in front of the hotel meant that nobody got any sleep! Best to book a park view room to avoid this, which somewhat defeats the over of staying centrally. Breakfast is poor - pastries didn’t seem fresh. Just one member of staff at check out at the peak time meant we were kept waiting for a long time. Overall, this was unfortunately far from a 4 star experience.

Nice hotel although no restaurant. The room was a decent size with nice view of the canal. Bed , shower and air conditioning all good. Safe parking. Easy to walk to the town and citadel. Beautiful building. Would recommend if in verdun. It helps if you have some French as only one receptionist seems to have English but it was fine for us.

Nice hotel. Location is excellent - centrally located and on the river so very scenic. Also close to many restaurants. Can reserve parking through hotel in lot next door. Front desk manager was very helpful in recommending restaurants and offered to make reservations. Strongly suggest making reservations for dinner as we didn't and got turned away from our first choice.

So good to be back in France, so wonderful to discover Verdun. I stopped over en route back to the UK; it was only planned as a stopover, nothing special. And then I experienced le Jardin du Mess. What a joy. The hotels position is spectacular, its history fascinating its creature comforts worth the drive and its staff simply outstanding. I will be back to explore Verdun, learn more of its history and enjoy the whole experience of which Les Jardin du Mess is a central part.

Great location but…. Ghastly 1960s interior that is exhausted! No restaurant in August No facilities in August but same price Poor staff at breakfast most tables uncleared, even egg bath nearly empty of water so no eggs for breakfast, cleared my own space. Staff mostly bored

This is an absolutely stunning hotel. We stayed for 6 nights in a junior suite with balcony overlooking the river Meuse. The room was large and very well furnished with a massive comfortable bed, the bathroom was very modern, well equipped and had the biggest bath I’ve ever seen along with a walk-in rainfall shower. We even liked the shag pile carpet which suited the room! The on site secure parking (small charge) was also a bonus. The staff are all extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The breakfasts were of a very high standard served in a nice setting. The hotel is ideally situated across the river from the pedestrianised Quai de Londres with its many bars & restaurants. Verdun is a beautiful little city with loads to see and a great mixture of bars & restaurants. Overall we had a fantastic time at this hotel & would not hesitate to highly recommend it.

Great location in Verdun. On the river and a close walk to restaurants, etc. We very much appreciated the helpful service from Maeve----she made us Americans feel welcome! It's obvious the rooms have been nicely upgraded in the past few years.

My family enjoyed this lovely hotel in the heart of Verdun. Our suite was spacious and had an amazing spa like bathroom. The service was 5 star and from checkin to the lovely housekeepers. Nearby restaurants, pubs, and shopping make it very convenient.

Good hotel. Spacious room with view over river. Great bathroom with lovely overhead shower. One snag. We booked the hotel from the UK because it claimed to have a charging point for an electric car. This turned out to be a French domestic socket, although outdoors. It’s very unusual to use a domestic socket. However I had all the necessary adapters but I was not allowed to use them due to a fire risk. Probably very wise. Hotel recommended a nearby public charging point. That was impossible without fluent French to understand the complex instructions. It’s a particular problem but the hotel should make it clear that the charging is via a domestic socket. Stayed in other French hotels and when stated a charger means a proper EV charger.
