Hotel Firenze

Cittadella - Porta Nuova Verona|0.69km from city center
We stayed her for five nights. The location is perfect a few minutes walk from the bus/train station and not much further into the centre of Verona. The room we had was very dated, required some maintenance, but was clean. It did feel a bit like a dungeon although it was on the fifth floor with french doors and a balcony. The trouble was that the curtains would not open/close and the top of the curtains were not even attached to the rail on one side so flapped open. No worries, we thought, we will let them know so they can sort it out. Although the receptionist fully understood what we were saying the curtains were never sorted for the whole of our stay. We had to find a way to keep them closed at night. Another thing to keep in mind is that you cannot keep the doors open as it is so noisy, which is purely down to the location and can not be helped. It was too hot and a bit oppressive once the metal shutters were down at night. I felt the staff worked extremely hard at breakfast and noticed they replenished everything very quickly. The room was kept spotlessly clean and our bed was always made up when we returned to the hotel after exploring Verona. If I could give 3.5 stars I would, but I do not feel the hotel warrants 4 stars. I don't think I would return as would prefer something a bit more modern. Does this exist in Verona, I'm not sure that it does. Not quite sure how it is a four star hotel, more like what I would expect a three star to be like.

Relais Empire

Relais Empire

Cittadella - Porta Nuova Verona|0.39km from city center
My wife, daughter and I stayed at Relais Empire for two-nights while on a road trip across northern Italy. This small hotel is arranged over the first and second floors (there is a lift) of a old town building adjacent the main street to, and just a short walk from, Piazza Brà (and the colosseum). The building facade is currently being restored which did not affect our stay, but currently makes accessing the hotel entrance a challenge with the intercom to 'buzz' reception on the first floor to open the entrance door and with the intercom obscured by scaffolding/boarding. This issue aside, we experienced no noise or disturbance from the building work at all. The hotel's interior decor is lovely (very Italianate), the rooms/bathrooms are a generous size and very clean, the beds are comfortable, and despite our rooms facing onto a main road close to the touristic centre, the hotel was exceptionally quiet at all times. Breakfast was superb with a generous mix of hot/cold breakfasty food and beverages, and the small team of staff at the hotel were attentive and very helpful throughout our stay. A note of caution if you are travelling by car; parking is a short walk from the hotel in a compound with individual private and locked underground garages, and consequently very safe. The cautionary is note is because on arrival, you will need to temporarily leave your car parked on the street (or as I had to because there were no on-street parking spaces near the hotel at the time we arrived, on the pavement) and check-in with reception before transferring your bags into the hotel and then being shown to the garages (the receptionist will jump in your car with you to guide the way and show you how to access the garages). However, on departing the hotel, I was able to park on the street right outside the hotel to transfer our bags back to the car which was much less of a faff. If you are arriving on foot or by taxi, you can ignore this cautionary note! Should you stay here, we recommend dining at a nearby restaurant recommended by the hotel's receptionist, 'Osteria Casa Vino' (also reviewed) - it was outstanding. We dined their twice during our two night stay. In summary; a small and slightly quirky hotel, attractive once inside, clean and quite, with nice rooms/bathrooms, excellent breakfast, great staff and close to the centre of the attractions.

Verona Porta Nuova Railway Station

Sole Hotel Verona

Sole Hotel Verona

Porta Nuova Verona|0.16km from Verona Porta Nuova Railway Station
Last time we stayed in Verona we were slightly closer to the centre (Piazza Bra). We weren't sure about this place as it is right next to the railway station and further from the centre. We needn't have worried. There was no noise from the station and the slightly longer walk to the centre (only around 400m) was more than made up for by the convenience of having both the train station and bus station on our doorstep. By the way, both trains and buses in Verona are excellent and cheap. The hotel is quite small, which we'd prefer anyway. It is clean, well decorated and maintained. The staff are lovely. Breakfast is continental style which is perfect in the heat of an Italian summer. The hotel and rooms are wonderfully cool - again very welcome with temperatures in the mid 30s outside. It was very quiet and we had better sleep than we get at home in the mid Wales countryside. If I was being very picky I'd say the TV wasn't great as it was entirety Italian except for a couple of English language news channels. But this is Italy after all! I couldn't cast from my phone either so when we got back in the evening it was a book rather than a bit of TV. A small detail though really. I saw a review which advised how to find the hotel which turned out to be very useful so I'll repeat it here. There are two ways of finding it by foot. You can access it via a turning (signposted) at one end of platform 1 of Porta Nuova station. If you're carrying luggage that's a good option as there's a lift to the platform. The other way is via some steps which are to the right of the station entrance as you face it. These takes you around the back of the station. We came back from the opera at gone 1am and found the area perfectly safe, which isn't always the case around major stations. All in all a great little hotel which I'd recommend.

Novo Hotel Rossi

Porta Nuova Verona|0.38km from Verona Porta Nuova Railway Station
I booked this hotel due to its good reviews and proximity to the train station. While it was convenient for the station, I was left very disappointed by the hotel for a few reasons: - The check in process took half an hour due to initially being assigned a room (and given a key) that belonged to someone else. I walked into a room full of someone else’s belongings - luckily no one was in there at the time. I do appreciate that the reception staff offered me a free drink at the bar by way of apology - The wifi did not work. The reception staff were not able to resolve the issue and there were other customers at reception with the same issue as me - The room was spacious and modern, but I had a very poor night’s sleep due to the awful road noise (my windows were closed, but totally not sound roof) and mediocre bed comfort - The breakfast process is simply appalling. The worst I have ever experience. You must book a slot at a given hour - I selected 8am - and when you turn up it is a buffet breakfast which is served to you from behind plastic screens. I assume this is intended for covid-security. However, it is much worse than a normal buffet as everyone crowds in one large queue. It also meant that it took half an hour for me to get a small amount of food and a coffee, resulting in me running late for my bus to the airport. Overall, I would definitely not stay here again next time

Such an excellent place to stay, near Castelvecchio and close to the centre of Verona but in a quiet safe side street. Manola is very welcoming and showed me some great places to go to, she could not do enough for her guests ! Very nice room, clean and modern and great facilities. Highly recommend Casa Fola if you are going to stay in Verona ! 😃

Borgo Venezia

The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable. Our room was quite spacious, clean, TV with sky, comfortable bed but they should change the coats, high and hard, uncomfortable to sleep. Good breakfast, with very good products and served according to the anti-Covid rules. I would like the camel requested in the evening (in half the tea) had been offered as often happened in other hotels, but we were counted, 2. I said I would come back to Verona. Probably price of the room a little higher but much lower than the average of the hotels in Verona

The apartment is lovely and out daughters really enjoyed the bunk beds. the garden patio is a great place to eat lunch!! Borgo Milano
The biggest hotel in Italy, the underground parking lot is very safe, the front desk will give a password, enter the password downstairs to park directly. The doorway of the car is farther away, and the door is flat. In addition, the hotel's breakfast is good. You can go to Lake Garda, not too far away, the environment is not bad. Recommended to stay in Verona for a few more days. A small but very comfortable city!
Camping Verona Village
4.4/535 Reviews
A great site to access Verona with a bus stop directly outside the site costing just over 2 euros return for a 30 minute each way trip so very cheap. Buses every 30 minutes and it was the service 41. Check in sraff very helpful and friendly and on hand to answer any queries. The site was modern and clean with lovely shower blocks and plenty adequate toilets and showers operated with your pass. Each guest is given their own wifi code so it was efficient. There is a swimming pool twenty minutes walk away or you can drive to it also. You could choose your own camping spot and was plenty of room. The only down side was they allowed guests to check in very late and putting tents up at half ten at night is riduculous with slamming car doors and hammering tent pegs into the ground. They should not allow this to happen.
