Although it's a bit far from Sorrento, the hotel offers excellent value for money. It even has its own large parking lot. Parking in southern Italy is notoriously difficult, so having facilities like this is quite remarkable.

From Seiano Station, you have to walk uphill along the road for about 10 minutes to reach the hotel. This hotel is perfect for parties, with a swimming pool, bar, garden, and large buffet restaurant. While we were staying at the hotel, someone was hosting an 18th birthday celebration. There are no service facilities around the hotel, so it is difficult to find food. The hotel will recommend you to choose their buffet (30 euros per person). Compared to the sky-high prices of sea view rooms in popular places like Amalfi and Positano, the prices of sea view rooms here are quite affordable, and there are trains and buses that can easily go to the above two places, so the original choice of Seiano was right, and it is also very convenient to go to Pompeii from here. The hotel room did not have a kettle, disposable slippers, or a cup for washing. Instead, it provided two thin disposable paper cups. There was not even a glass cup. It was really eye-opening. No bottled water provided in the room either. The dining room is large and offers a sea view, but the breakfast selection is average and there is no choice.

My first trip to Italy and what a gem of a place to chose through Jet2. Hotel, staff and location all amazing. Will definitely be back. A special thank you to Marieanna and Salvadore for adding that special touch and for you patience with my badly spoken Italian. Till next time.... Tracey

Travelling as a single parent with two young boys always brings a small amount of extra pressure. You do not have another adult to bounce ideas off or share the load when things go off track. Before we left, I had read a few mixed reviews online about the Grand Hotel Moon Valley, which made me a bit cautious. You just hope everything works out fine and that the hotel proves to be a safe, comfortable, and reliable base for your holiday. I am happy to report that any worries disappeared as soon as we arrived. We spent ten days in Seiano, and the hotel turned out to be spot on for our needs. Check-in and checkout were seamless. The reception staff greeted us warmly and processed everything quickly. The hotel was spotless throughout, from reception and the dining room to the outdoor terraces and pool area. Housekeeping do a great job here. We treated our room as a base for sleep and washing between day trips. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. Having a small fridge in the room was useful for keeping drinks and snacks cold. We had an issue with our shower one morning, which I reported at reception on our way out. By the time we got back in the afternoon, it was fixed. Breakfast was fine for a family. It is not fine dining, but there was more than enough choice and quantity to satisfy everyone. We ate in the hotel restaurant a few evenings and went out on others. The dinner menu was a bit hit and miss for us simply because some dishes did not appeal to the kids. However, if you do not want to head out, the restaurant will happily make simple pizzas or pasta dishes for the children, which makes life much easier on a holiday. The ladies working in the restaurant were brilliant, and my boys said they were like Italian Grandmas. The pool was great for a daily two-hour dip after sightseeing, and we spent one full day just lounging by it. During the week, it was quiet and relaxed with no issues getting a sun lounger. At the weekend, local day visitors use the pool so it gets busier, but it was still fine. The location is ideal if you want to explore without renting a car. It is a ten-minute walk to Seiano train station, where you can get direct trains to Sorrento, Mount Vesuvius, Pompeii, and Herculaneum. The trains are often delayed, but the route itself is very simple. Despite a few negative reviews online that worried me beforehand, everything was spot on. It was a cooling, safe, and enjoyable base to explore Italy, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable hotel in the area.

So glad we ignored the negative reviews for this hotel as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Pros: The view. Worth 5 stars on its own from the rooms overlooking the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The pool. Great size, never a problem finding a sun-bed, great views again. Lunch. Lovely freshly made pizza, pasta, steak, calamari, sandwiches etc. reasonably priced, although could have more variety. Staff. Never had a problem with anyone. All professional. Maybe others reviewers expect staff to ingratiate themselves towards them, hence some negative comments. Room cleaned every day to a good standard by friendly staff and a very useful mini fridge. Kept our wine and soft drinks cold, purchased at the great local shop with helpful proprietors always willing to advise on local food and drink. Room. Good balcony, clean, comfortable beds with air-con. Dated maybe but in-keeping with the overall vibe. Excursions. We used both hotel and jet2 excursions ( capri & Pompei) . Both very well organised and hassle free. Locally. Couple of nice restaurants within walking distance serving good steaks and seafood. Marina a must visit, nice restaurants. Local pharmacy came in useful for my mosquito bites (they seem to like me the most and during the day!) Links. 10 mins from train station to Sorrento, Napoli and in between. Bus link (although not used). Free mini bus from hotel to Sorrento daily 9:45- 14:30 book day in advance at reception. Cons: Food debate (evenings)? Hit and miss depending on your taste. Home cooked food, perhaps lacking the finesse of most restaurants with maybe one or two elements missing. For us this added to the charm of the place and we never left hungry. Probably more variety needed. Breakfast was repetitive. In contrast to some reviews we asked could we swap an evening meal for lunch ( on half board) as we wanted to try a local restaurant, but was told no. Fair enough as long as you know. Links: We thought the walk to the marina and beach would be easier, however it’s a 25 mins walk without pavements and in 35C temps not ideal. Asked at the desk without much help, although we noticed a bus we could have taken. Taxi was €20 each way, ridiculous for such a short distance. Train can be busy and hot depending on the time. Some have stated the hotel will take you to the beach or Vico Equense but we were not offered this. Entertainment. Nice singer every night. Needs guest performers to keep evenings entertaining less repetitive. Weekends. The pool area can get quite busy with the locals having access to pool area but again we didn’t find it a problem getting sun beds. Overall, we will definitely be returning to this hotel.

This is our 8th time at Moonvalley and again it was fantastic! A big thank you to everyone at the hotel especially Marianna, Salvatore, Elia, Luigi,Tiziana and Memo. The hotel is spotless, the pool area is one of the best. Food is very good and the service is great. Marianna is very professional in everything she does as the restaurant manager and Salvatore runs the bar with great expertise, the best. A great location and the views are beautiful. Bar De Simone is just a short walk from the hotel , great place. Thank you all so much and we will see you again very soon! Salute

We loved our hotel, Grand Hotel Moon Valley. Has to be the most beautiful swimming pool in Europe. We was lucky as went off season and there was literally no one at the pool so no fighting over loungers. There is also a very shallow paddling pool for the kids. Lots of loungers and huge sun umbrellas if it gets too much. Food was lovely and that's from someone who is fussy about his food. Beware, if you order a pizza for starters... it's huge. Railway station is just 10-15 mins walk down the hill. They use a "Tap On" "Tap Off" (might have been "Tap Out") system so you just scan your debit card and then the other end just scan it again. IF you go to Vico Equense, when you arrive don't go through the turnstiles, go through the main building where the "Tap Off" machines are, if you don't "Tap Off" you'll get charged the full fare rather than just over a euro. Not a lot in Vico Equense but there are nice bars and restaurants and you can walk down to a small park with lovely views across the Mount Vesuvius. There are also a few very nice ice cream shops especially "Gelateria Gabriele". One day we walked back from Vico Equense to Grand Hotel Moon Valley from the small park and it was easy, took about 30-40 mins. Just across the road and down a bit from the Grand Hotel is a shop and at the back they sell bottled water, fizzy drinks, biscuits, chocolate etc and they also have amazing cheeses and serve food too although we never got a chance to eat there. Further down the road is a pizza restaurant and a bar. Staff at Moon Valley were very friendly and helpful, at reception and dining.

We didn't have a very good experience at this hotel. Honestly, one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. I found the staff rude. When we got to our room. It was very basic. No tea and coffee facilities, even though it's a 4 star hotel. The noise from the road is so loud you really can't sleep. It's busy 24/7. Our shutters broke when we arrived. We were accused of braking it. All we did was press a button to open and the whole thing came down. When we asked to be moved, we were offered a garden view, even though we paid for a sea view. The manager said, it's only money!!! Really!! I complained to Jet2. Who, after a few phone calls advised they would move us next door the next day and we would get a bottle of wine. (We are still waiting for the wine! Lol). You can hear everyone's conversation from the rooms above and next to you as the walls are really thin. The food is terrible. Very poor choice at the mornings buffet. If you arrive late, they don't really replenish the food. The evening meal was horrendous. We were half board and only ate here once. We are out every other night. On the last day we paid our tourist fee. My husband didn't check the bill (I normally do) and he paid. When I re checked the bill they had added another 40 euros on our bill. When I questioned this, the manger (the male manager) went nuts in Italian. But, the lovely lady (blonde hair and glasses) gave us our refund and apologised.. Honestly, I wish we did our research as we would not have stayed here. The only good thing was the beautiful view from the balcony. Good points * Beautiful View *Pool *Only 5 minute walk to the train station Bad Points * Room-very basic and old fashion * Terrible Food * Rude staff (especially the manager) * Very noisy road (which you are right next to) * Very far from Sorrento * The towels are like the tea towels. Bring your own. Would I stay here again! Nope! Do your research and stay somewhere else!
