Nice hotel and friendly staff, It's just a bit pricey like most other hotels in the city.

We stayed at Pioneers as part of a tour package. The tours kept us pretty busy, but we wish we could have stayed extra days just to enjoy this place. It is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds are protected by walls and filled with lush vegetation. (Note: the walls aren't meant to keep crime out; they are meant to keep wildlife out. Baboons, elephants, and warthogs roam nearby.) The landscaping is immaculate. They have a lovely and large veranda on the back of the main building with plenty of seating and ceiling fans. Next to the veranda is an open air restaurant and bar, nicely appointed in a local theme. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had one server who pretty much took care of us exclusively. Collen was attentive and helpful. Actually all of the wait staff were polite and attentive. The food in the restaurant is very good. Be sure to try the daily game special. The donuts at breakfast were light, tasty, and melted in your mouth. Prices were reasonable compared to what we would pay in the US. Drink prices were even better. The bartenders were meticulous in their preparation and presentation of your cocktail. Our room was spacious and the king bed very comfortable. There was a ceiling fan and AC. Both were controlled by remotes. They had a mosquito netting around the bed which they unfurled each night at turndown, but we never needed it. We just pulled it back and slept fine without it. The bathroom was also spacious with separate light controls for the sink and shower areas. The shower was a very nice stall shower with a shower head I wish I could have brought home. Great water pressure and flow made showering a delight. There was a water pitcher in the room that was filled daily with fresh drinking water and a kettle also filled daily with fresh drinking water. Instant Nescafe was available in the morning for your coffee fix if you couldn't wait until breakfast. There were two pools onsite, an upper and a lower. Two ducks hung out at the lower pool. I am guessing they are permanent residents. The lent a nice ambiance to the area. Chaise lounges with towels were readily available for relaxing. You could even order drinks and food to your chair if you wished.

Highly recommend this place! Excellent accommodation with rooms close to everything. Food was fantastic and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. Thank you Colen for making our stay with you memorable. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely loved it here. Unfortunately we only stayed for two nights but they were memorable for all the right reasons. All the staff were excellent from the initial welcome talk and drink, room staff and in the restaurant. One in particular who was front of house in the restaurant, watching all the tables and with a great sense of humour. The hotel was furnished to a high standard and the service amazing. Even the mosquito curtains in the bedroom were drawn in the evening. We absolutely loved the food in the restaurant both at breakfast and dinner. Thank you all so much.

Awe inspiring spectacle of the Falls nearby. Mid sized luxury resort reminiscent of Merle Streeps home in Out of Africa. Rooms very clean and well maintained, breakfasts excellent, service was also top notch. Our tour guide , Misheck, w Wild Horizons gave very nice tours of Chinotimba village and Falls w great historical perspectives. Lunch at Lookout Cafe w amazing views of Bridge and gorge was superb ( crocodile kebab very tasty), sunset boat cruise on Rai-Alkane also great w drinks , local cuisine, and sighting of river animals incl hippos, birds, crocs. A must visit!
