The air-conditioning was not enough to cool the room. (Didn't report - My bad, as short stay)
The room in general was pretty small and tight - Manageable.
Walkable distance from the station and bus. Ferry(Heartland) wise slightly further but still manageable.
Overall, it would be a great place for mini baggage travelling.
If not, might not be the best choice, definitely not for me. :/

Yes, a Japanese-style hotel, warm grandfather and grandmother, unforgettable Wakkanai. Open the window and you will see the sea. The breakwater along the coast is so spectacular. Recommended!

It's 10-15 minutes away from Wakkanai Station. It's close to the beach. The price is average. The room is a bit old, but the window faces the sea. It's very convenient. It's 10 minutes away from the hotel and 20 minutes away from the pier. , it is convenient to buy ferry tickets to Rebun Island and Rishiri Island on the same day. The snack market was open in the evening and it was comfortable to stay for 2 days.
If you are looking for an authentic stay in Wakkanai then hotel Sahara is your answer with traditional tatame mats.. Their rooms are in the traditional colours and decor although a little tired and a bit quirky as an an ashtray and matches were provided in our room (not used by us) a good powerful shower with soft towels were provided sadly not sized for European bodies. House keeping is good but be aware if you have a lot of luggage the lift is very small. A microwave is provided in reception for guests use. If you are lucky to get a sea view set your alarm for sunrise as it is definitely worth getting up for.
