Woodhouse Mountain Lodge

We had a lovely stay! Although it is a narrow, gravel road for most of the way once you come off the motorway, it is beautiful, peaceful and worth the drive. The staff were attentative and service was great. The villas are spacious (attached to one other villa), have a lovely deep bath and a double shower is great. Breakfast was so nice! We

We had a beautiful stay here. It’s a long track to get there but well worth it! Very comfortable bed, spacious and peaceful room with a great view, a stylish lodge, excellent restaurant and super attentive staff. Would definitely recommend.

Probably the nicest place for the money I’ve EVER stayed. Quiet, beautiful setting with spacious, luxurious accommodations. Lodge is situated on top of a hill with panoramic views. “Villas” are widely spaced with big windows and verandahs to take in scenery. Generous tiled en-suite with two-headed shower, spa bath. Luxury is the word that comes to mind.

We had a lovely 4 nights at Woodhouse. The views are amazing and the staff are very welcoming. A perfect place to relax and if that’s not enough Matakana is only 25 mins by car - the Saturday markets and the sculptureum did not disappoint!

Our originally booked accommodation in Warkworth was not available so our agent booked us into the Woodhouse Mountain Lodge as an alternative. After a four-hour drive from Rotorua, it was a little disconcerting to then have a three-mile drive over a very uneven, narrow, gravel track. Upon arriving we received a warm welcome and chilled out with a glass of wine in the lounge whilst we waited for our room to be prepared. The lodge is ideally positioned in an elevated position with stunning views down the valley. The villas are set in pairs and dotted along the hillside. Dinner in the restaurant was a three-course affair with adequate options. It was reasonably prepared and presented although the bread rolls and the toasted bread with the salmon starter were burnt!! Breakfast served in the conservatory was acceptable with both continental and cooked options offered to order. We used the hot tub but the swimming pool was a bit too cold to venture into. We were a little disappointed with our overnight stay although for some reason can't quite identify why.

Friendly staff, stunning views and dinner which was beautifully presented and tasted delicious, however the room was dull and tired and several areas needed attention, such as vanity light not working, stains on the couch etc. It was lacking in any of the hospitality extras or touches which make a guest feel welcome and are found at equivalent lodges of this standard and price level. Not quite the luxury as advertised.

Beautiful location and stunning views. Perfect for a relaxing break with no children! Dining was amazing, staff attentive and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Luxury! My husband and I stayed for one night for our 5 year wedding anniversary. We were greeted by lovely staff for our checkin. Very warm and welcoming. We stayed in Villa 10 which was a short walking distance to the pool and spa. We used both of these facilities. There is also a sauna that we didn’t get a chance to use. The Villa was beautifully furnished. It had a modern rustic feel. The bathroom is huge with a shower for two, seperate basins and a bath. The bed was my absolute favourite thing. It was so comfortable and the pillows, linen and duvet were just luxurious. They provided a beautiful sleep mist also. Such incredible small touches. We loved the gas fireplace which we used to warm up after our spa / swim. We had the 3 course meal and a cheeseboard. Every meal was so well thought through and absolutely delicious. The eye fillet is the best steak I’ve had, compliments to the chef. 5 star quality! There was also delicious shortbread provided in the room with the tea and coffee options. A breakfast is also included in the price, good range of choices. My husband and I wished we’d had two nights there. It was just so peaceful and relaxing. We definitely would stay here again and absolutely recommend it. You can feel how much love and effort is put into every detail. Thank you for the amazing hospitality.

We spent two nights at the lodge and loved it. The staff were very welcoming and the lodge was lovely with lots of space to relax and a nice big fire. Our room was outstanding and the bed was very comfortable. We made use of the gas fire and enjoyed a lovely cheese board fist was delivered to our room. The breakfast each morning was great and the view was outstanding. We would definitely stay again.
