We really enjoyed our visit today. We were only day pass guests tho ( because we are too cheap to get memberships) anyway, the staff on reception at the gym were so helpful and gave us a lock and a towel each, the price was £2 a towel ... 2 quid ! This country is in a crisis right now and like Adele says ' Go easy on me baby ' I handed over my card like Whoopi Goldberg handing the cheque to that nun in Ghost ...unfortunately the sauna was out of use which miffed us off abit but we didn't let that spoil things. The facilities were great .. steam room , swimming pool which was heated ! I had thoughts of a reenactment from the ending of Titanic but no ... oh and a jacuzzi ! After some time of day-dreaming and pretending that this place was my own, and it was part of my new house that I'd just purchased after winning big on the lotto, we got out and headed to the changies. Love that I could dry my hair and get my full geisha on instead of looking like a drowned rat that had been pulled from some kind of wreckage . After our time in the pool , we went for dinner ( we say dinner not lunch , we are Northern) ... we strutted into the bar and grill like we owned the gaff . We were greeted by the beautiful Wynne who was an absolute star. So happy, polite and adorable. It was at this point we needed to channel our inner Augustus Gloop and grip the menu. We got the Peri Peri burger stack each with fries and coleslaw and my guy in the kitchen did not disapoint . Wynne brought our food over and it was delicious,a tad overpriced I thought but it was lovely food. ( i just wont but my heating on for another week) I would've given a full 5 star rating but the sauna being out of order is the only reason why I'm not giving 5. Would come back again, course we would xxx

Staff very friendly and welcoming and great atmosphere. The locals were great company too. Traditional English breakfast was good. When I arrived was a bit of a farce in relation to key to my room was a long wait to check in properly while they tried to locate key to my room. Tables not very clean at breakfast doesn't take much to give 'em a quick wipe and keep the tables nice, clean and presentable for your guests. No replacement towels in bedroom. But the biggest disappointment and what I found absolutely astonishing was that I even had to ask for replacement toilet roll for my room but when I did ask during my final evening there the two young girls behind the bar seemed totally and completely disinterested!!! I got up very early in the morning and I asked a gentleman member of staff on duty for some toilet roll as I had run out in my bedroom and by this time I really needed to use the loo. There was no toilet roll left in the gent's customer toilets either... This guy on duty seemed to take an age just to get me a few bits of toilet roll from what I gathered was the ladies customer toilets then said that he was sorry, that's all they had and that they were expecting a delivery. I just said don't bother and went to buy some toilet roll from Asda round the corner. I mean a place providing accommodation to people and something that is a basic and an essential requirement like toilet roll they run out of... What??? Well it's a good job I didn't need to go for a number two in the middle of the night isn't it?!!! To be honest I have stayed at much worse places though. The Kings Head was handy as right directly opposite the main train station and as we're in a cost of living crisis it was all about saving pennies but to be honest with hindsight I should have forked out a bit more to stay at one of the local Travelodges. Shame I had to write a negative review because I liked Andy who runs the place, he was a good host and very friendly.

On the side of the highway, it is convenient to enter and exit. The room is large. The sofa bed is ready for the child at check-in. 24-hour front desk service. Breakfast is calculated separately.

We stayed here for a night as a stop off on a long journey. We could not have been more impressed! We checked in late, parking in the private (free) hotel carpark, and could not believe how beautiful and well thought out the whole hotel is. Original features with an amazing art deco type modernisation. We were shown to a gorgeous, spotless room and slept in a bed that was like a cloud! Powerful shower, tea and coffee, everything you’d want but all done to the highest spec! Breakfast was served in the cafe inside the hotel and Yaad, part of the husband and wife team who own the hotel, was incredibly warm and friendly. We are massive coffee lovers and hugely appreciated an amazing flat white with breakfast. Both the continental and cooked options were delicious. Thank you and we’ll be recommending to anyone visiting or passing through this area!

1st the rooms ate very clean, the hotel is spotless. Some issues. The hotel states its dog friendly, this is true, but it's not clear on their website that not all rooms are dog friendly, so the superior room we had booked was downgraded, and a £20 fee added as a charge for the dog. If you are dog friendly then make sure you fully reflect this in the website. Evening meal in the restaurant, the staff were very friendly and efficient. It would appear that the full online menu is not available in the restaurant , a cut down version. Ok. We were advised that the Thai Green Curry was not available. Ok. We ordered, soon afterwards, we were advised that the beer battered onion rings was also off the menu. Hmm, so every is not freshly cooked, but pulled out of the freezer. Even an average chef could manage to produce a batter and cook onion rings, not difficult . Right, the room, is fine, but no ability to regulate the heat, reduced opening on the windows, didn't help. Right, breakfast. We arrived at 8:40, the restaurant was fairly empty. We were taken to a table. The staff appeared to be totality uninterested. We went to the buffet bar, no eggs, asked and were advised they were cooked to order. So we ordered two poached eggs and two fried eggs. No. They can't do fried eggs, only poached or scrambled. That confirms that nothing is actually cooked. No eggs, are they being serious? The scrambled arrived it appear to be swimming in some liquid, not pleasant. Right the cold buffet bar looked poor, the yoghurt was empty. No white bread to toast. The staff were not bothered to ask if we wanted our coffee topping up. At precisely 9:00 AM the staff kicked into action and cleared the hot food. I asked when did they stop serving, they answered 9:30, but they cleared everything away at 9:00. Paying customers who turned up after 9 looked dismayed at the empty hot buffet. The uninterested stsff had to go and get the food from the kitchen .I've stayed in a large number of hotels ranging from guest houses to 5 star, but have never seen such poor attitude at breakfast, a failure to fry an egg. Needs looking at..
