Best Hotels in Waterton

Had a nice one-night stay while traveling through the area. While the lodge is not very close to the downtown area of Waterton, the town is not that big and it is worth the short walk to where the shopping and dining are located. I had a room upstairs and it was a roomy space, but don't expect a TV. This was actually a happy surprise for me as I wanted to be outdoors and not cooped up in a room with a TV going. It's an older hotel, so the walls are not very soundproof. For the most part that was not an issue, but the room next door was filled with small kids who did not have a TV to distract them...so running and screaming ensued.

Positives: * Nate and Trisha performed fast check in and good direction to the room, and info about the park with good maps. Trisha was helpful providing conversion rates info on currency, distance, and gasoline. (Canada uses the metric system). That info helped me greatly during my travel in Canada, which I appreciated. * They were responsive in moving me to a different room when the first room had trashes at the front door. * Great hot shower * Clean and comfortable bed Negatives: * Cleanliness issues: The first assigned room had trashes at the front door and no hot water. A long hair found in the bathtub of the second room. * Carpets in common areas look old and needs replacement * Food smelt in the building * Thin walls, for light sleepers only: very loud air conditioning and the refrigerator machine sometimes also is loud. There is a small general store nearby as well. * Should have enough parking spaces for guests staying in this lodge, but I would not say they have plenty of parking spots. * This lodge has multiple buildings, each building has anywhere from 6 to 12 rooms with different sizes and layouts. It’s not cabin style, more like an apartment complex. There are several lodges you can choose from in Waterton such as Aspen Village (which is also centrally located), Waterton Glacier Inn & Suites, I did not look into all of them. Because this one is the only one, I was able to find the reception/lobby. Other ones, the lobbies/receptions area were hard to find. * The next closest cities outside of the Waterton National Park are Pincher Creek and Cardston. Overall, service was great, facility condition is average, the cleanliness is above average (had it not have the hairs on bathtub), it would have been great. Noise level is loud because of thin walls and loud air conditioner/heater. 3.5 out of 5. Despite of that, if these issues don't bother you and you value convenience, this can be a good option in addition to several more lodgings nearby.

My husband and I unexpectedly wound up in Waterton NP this January and happened upon the Kilmorey Lodge. We stayed two nights here and loved everything about the experience! Our room was beautiful - spotless, light-filled, lovely furniture with a stunning view of the lake at a great price. Nicest hotel room I think I've ever stayed in as a matter of fact. We had a night in the pub downstairs and (again, unexpectedly) ended up participating in the Quiz Night held by the hotel staff and had so much fun. Our wine, beer, and fries were fantastic (we did not need a full meal but the meals others were served looked delicious). Staff were gracious and kind and the place was super quiet at night. Town is deserted at this time of year which was kind of fun. Had some great walks and a really memorable hike up the ”Bear's Hump” for a jaw-dropping view of the mountains, lakes and townsite. One thing to keep in mind for this time of year: two restaurants (one is at Kilmorey) and one liquor store plus the Visitors Centre are open and that is IT - no groceries. So maybe bring some picnic supplies if you don't want to eat out every meal. We would go back in a heartbeat and will likely do so next January! Highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic property! Once we arrived, it was very hard to leave the beautiful views and atmosphere. We cancelled our dinner reservations elsewhere so we could stay in the lobby and enjoy the view and the historical talk/presentation. Loved the simplicity but super comfortable aspects of the rooms.
