Cougar Ridge Resort

We stayed at Cougar Ridge when visiting Capitol Reef National Park. It was a fantastic stay and we would look for an excuse to come back. We had their king “room” but it really was an apartment - a full kitchen and living room downstairs, and a spacious bedroom with king bed upstairs. Everything was modern and extremely comfortable. In a sense, it was the best of staying at a high-end hotel and an AirBnB! The staff were fantastic and went out of their way to make things easy for us. Great recommendations on where to eat and things to do (if we needed it). They had EV chargers on site we could use. There’s a pool, hot-tub, and well apportioned gym that we didn’t even get to (though they looked great). And on-site laundry! Having that and the full kitchen were great as we unloaded a lot of our “national park” stuff and got all our hiking clothes clean. And then there are the animals! The baby goats were adorable, there’s a very friendly (maybe too friendly!) baby calf, and the horses and alpacas were adorable. We didn’t have any kids with us and still loved it, and I know any little ones would just go nuts for this! Cougar Ridge has also built an event pavilion and are building a restaurant. To me this felt like an ideal place for a corporate retreat as long as it wasn’t too big, and I’d certainly consider it for that in the future! Net - fantastic place and I’d love to find an excuse to come back even if we aren’t aiming to go to Capitol Reef again soon.

Very well done. Think of the property as if you have been invited to stay in a guest house at a friend’s ranch. It’s down a gravel road, a little hard to find, but once there, everything is perfect. Nice people, clean and well maintained guest accommodations, and all of the ranch amenities. My son especially enjoyed the baby goats, longhorn calf, alpacas, and horses. Would recommend.

Cougar Ridge in Torrey is clearly in the process of transitioning into a high-end luxury resort. They are currently building a brand-new restaurant and bar, and the property is definitely designed for future growth. We stayed in a beautiful 2-queen bed room that was very comfortable and well-equipped with a good-sized refrigerator and microwave. The amenities here are fantastic—there is a large recreation area featuring a heated pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, and pickleball courts. Breakfast was also a highlight, offering a great selection of options including waffles, breakfast sandwiches, cake loaves, oatmeal, fresh fruits, and a wide variety of coffees and teas. Because we used a free Hilton night certificate, the price wasn't an issue for us, but room rates this May were running around $600 a night. For a property commanding that premium price point, there are still a few operational details that need to be ironed out to match the high-end experience they are aiming for: Front Desk & Service: The front desk is currently not staffed all day, which can be inconvenient for a luxury resort. Communication: Communication needs a bit of tuning, specifically updating their welcome email template and ensuring guest text messages are answered promptly. Signage: Physical signage from the main road needs improvement, which is especially important if you are arriving without a working GPS signal. Overall, it is a gorgeous property with excellent bones and great potential. Once these smaller service details and the new dining options are fully sorted, it will easily be a top-tier luxury destination!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This ranch was clean and high quality. The pickleball and pool/spa was fantastic. The baby goats that greet you were a highlight for us!

Wonderful, comfortable and clean. Made even more delightful by the fact that this is a working ranch with lots of beautiful animals (including the most adorable baby goats at the time of our stay). Can’t recommend this place enough. Will definite try to come back.

This hotel is very unique and the staff is extremely friendly and the room accommodations were perfect. I would highly recommend. The breakfast is on the right side.

Lovely place but expensive. Not sure it's worth the cost. Clean, comfortable, friendly. Very nice. Remote as Torrey is in the middle of nowhere very near Castle Reef National Park.

Beautiful room, could have better breakfast options, staff were very friendly and helpful.
