Reviews of Cypress Court Motel

We stayed here for one night as a couple traveling down to Whangarei for an eye appointment. The location is absolutely excellent, and the eye clinic was conveniently just a short walk away from the motel. The on-site amenities were quite good, but unfortunately, the customer service was poor and the overall cleanliness of the place was only average. While the location is incredibly convenient for medical visits, the service and upkeep definitely need improvement.

There may be quiet rooms at this venue, but ours was anything but. Noise from a busy road throughout the night, and single glazed windows doing nothing to reduce it. In addition, this place seems to have been built in the 1970s, and not having been updated since. Chairs with rubbed-off upholstery, mattress with springs poking into your backside, outdated and difficult to operate plumbing, wallpaper peeling off. Friendly people and relative proximity to the town centre are the only things going for it.

Three nights at the Cypress Court motel. The motel is not in city center. We had about 20/25 minutes walk to the river bank (Whangarei Town Basin) where there is a Hundertwasser museum, bars and restaurants. There is heavy traffic on Kamo Road, so there is also traffic noise. Our room was spacious and clean. The motel is older but well kept. Friendly service. Two supermarkets very close and good Thai restaurant a short walk away.

This place is a classic motel in the best sense of the expression. It's kept spotlessly clean and modern by the hardworking couple that runs it, it's in a convenient location but not right downtown, and the housekeeping units are big enough for a family but cozy for a couple. They have complete kitchens for self catering and there is a supermarket about 100 meters away. And there's a barbeque and big outdoor dining table covered by a tent in the inner courtyard, with some nice lights for atmosphere.
