Star-Apart Hansa Hotel

Great food and a careful, friendly, authentic sevice. We had thun tatar, the Dorade with truffles, mixed fish dishes and to the night table Tartufo .... everything was at the point and totally delicious. The tartufo is somehow a family recipe and the absolute hamper .... you must try! Delightful wine with good and friendly advice there was also. Even the espresso was particularly delicious. We were totally happy, around satisfied, the Pescaletta Wiesbaden has given us a very great evening and we will surely come back.

We have spent the past 5 nights at the Oranien. Our first time in Wiesbaden. Prior to Covid we have come to Europe every year for 25 years straight. Our stay here at the Oranien in Wiesbaden has been top notch in every way. Our room, a suite, was newly redecorated and is comfortable on all dimensions. Comfortable, clean, with all appurtenances. We have enjoyed absolutely outstanding professional, friendly service in the in-house restaurant/bar from Nadja and Tom, which made our stay easy and special and - well - we preferred, hands down, to return to the restaurant for meals or drinks on the patio or in the bar. The food, too, was exceptional. I have not posted a review in many years yet need to share our experience in gratitude for the management and staff that, across all important dimensions, made our stay fabulous.

The hotel has great spaces for hanging out, having drinks, and the restaurant food was better than I expected. The bar/restaurant staff were very kind and patient with our big group! The room we had was a very good size, plenty of room to spread out suitcases. We liked that it had a full length mirror and place to hang clothes. The bathroom was also spacious with a large shower and lots of counter space. It looked more modern and updated than the room itself. There's parking, for a cost, but it's convenient. The location is fine if you have a car or want to take the bus, which has a stop just across the street. The bed was huge and comfortable. It's also nice that there is a little shop to buy snacks, wine, waters, souvenirs, etc. We wished there a fridge in the room. It seemed some rooms had them and some didn't. There was plenty of room for one in ours. Not a huge deal though. Also there was no clothes iron anywhere on the property apparently. That would've been nice, but again, no big deal. The room was suffering a bit from wear. Nothing too bad, but some stains on the carpet, chips in the furniture, etc. Bedding was very clean though.
Hotel Zum Schnackel in Mainz

It is a small hotel, 12 rooms only. To me, this hotel is a typical bed and breakfast place, but with a good touch of style. It is privately owned and maintained. The reception is not attended constantly morning to night, so it often takes quite a while to wait for the receptionist to come to spot. A contact phone (mobile) number is there on the door to give a call to the receptionist and there are a few nice benches in the frontyard to have a seat and wait till he comes up. The rooms (suites) are ”roomy”, with good and always clean bathrooms. A light European breakfast is served to guests in the mornings from the Hotel lobby. It begins rather late, 8:00 am, which should be considered if you plan to travel a lot over the day. I would say that this hotel is a good fit to honeymooners or close friends who like to better explore particular locations rather than cover long distances making stopovers. And this particular location has something to offer. The nearby area is known as Die Mainmuendung, or the mouth of River Main. It represents a park belt good for recreation including wining and dining: there are a few nice restaurants / cafes.

Our stay in Dorint I felt very positive. The room was top, everything worked properly. Breakfast was plenty, the staff was attentive and premature. Since we are about 3 times a year in Wiesbaden we know almost all the better hotels and graduate the Dorint very far above. The spa area was extra up for us at 15:00 actually it goes there only at 18:00.Top service! We'll be back soon.
Radisson Blu Schwarzer Bock Hotel Wiesbaden

Oddly shaped room, very skinny, but it had a balcony which was the priority for us. The balcony was tiny with metal frame covered in vines (I thought it was darling). The balcony overlooked the garden courtyard where you could eat breakfast. Because of the shape of the room, the tv faced across the bed so you had to be sitting on the balcony to watch it, thankfully we don’t watch TV so that wasn’t an issue. The hotel decor commemorated the history of the hotel with photos, text in English, map, blueprints, and Art Neuvo style including brass goat towel hooks which were a nice touch. They seemed to be light on staff for main check in–only saw one person there. Yet, they were helpful. This hotel is in a great location! It is right across from the main plaza and the city park. The bathroom was a shower and one sink and toilet. The hair wasn’t cleaned out of the drain which was gross but otherwise the rest of the room was clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent–many options and kept tidy. The menu was in English and German. The main clientele of this hotel seemed to be military personnel. There is a spa at the hotel but it is subcontracted out and the hotel said it had so say over their hours or services. We didn’t use it and it might not have been open. Overall a quiet and peaceful stay. I felt safe there and we were able to walk to several points of interest nearby including the beautiful kurpark.
