Wasserbahn Waterpark Smock Hotel & Resort

A nice motel with good people working here. They are in the process of remodeling parts of the motel and adjoining restaurant, but that didn't affect our stay. Our room was warm and comfortable. We slept well on our bed and we had no complaints.

There are signs hanging around asking guests to excuse the mess while they improve the facilities. We would gladly excuse any inconvenience while they work to accomplish that because the facilities greatly need to be updated. However, their "updating" involves slapping paint on things to cover up issues that were not corrected (such as loose wallpaper and drywall joint tape that has not been mudded). Continental breakfast on the Sunday we visited consisted of a few granola bars. They ran out of coffee and there are zero options without driving 5 miles. It might also be noted that as we were leaving our room on Saturday, another couple was entering their room across the hall. When they unlocked and opened the door, someone else was already checked into the room! This place would be a great destination if they can get their act together. But a LOT of work needs to be done on everything from the facilities to the management.

Absolutely awful. I made a reservation in June that was cancelled via email a week and a half before a family member's wedding in August. Our family had a wedding block that I tried to book through, but the code the hotel gave us didn't work online and when I tried to call to book nobody ever answered. I booked directly though their site so we would get a room in time. People who booked months after me didn't have their rooms cancelled. I reached out to the manager to discuss and she wouldn't return my calls, just emailed me to tell me there was nothing they could do. Customer service was horrendous. Others in our group had their room cancelled last minute and multiple others had issues upon arrival at check in, including my 91-year-old grandmother who was on the second floor and their elevator is broken. Based on previous reviews, an issue that has gone back a while. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

The only reason we stayed here was for the close proximity to a wedding celebration since we are from out-of-state. Musty rooms, unprofessional staff. Drive another 20 minutes to find a cleaner place!
