Absolutely — I’d specifically mention the hair because that makes the cleanliness issue much more concerning. ⭐ 1/5 Extremely disappointing experience at the DoubleTree Wilmington. According to *******, check-in is at 3:00 PM. I arrived around 3:45 PM and was told my room still was not ready and that I would need to wait approximately 20 minutes. After waiting, I was finally given my room and was even offered my choice of floors. Unfortunately, when I entered the room, it was very clear that it had not been properly cleaned. Every cabinet and drawer was left wide open, there was debris on the floor by the door, dirt and debris on the bathroom floor and counters, and, most concerning, hair visibly left on the bathroom counters. I dropped off my bags, went back downstairs, and specifically asked the front desk to please have someone return to the room and actually clean it. Shortly afterward, I received a text from the hotel asking how my check-in experience had been. I responded and AGAIN explained that the room was not clean and that I had already requested someone come take care of it. I returned to the hotel around 9:00 PM — more than five hours after I first brought the condition of the room to their attention — and absolutely NOTHING had been done. The room was in the same condition I had left it. A room not being ready 45 minutes after the advertised check-in time is frustrating, but I could have overlooked that. Being given a room with debris on the floors and someone else’s hair still on the bathroom counters is a much bigger issue. What makes this a 1-star experience, however, is notifying the hotel twice, giving them hours to correct the problem, and returning that evening to discover they had completely ignored it. For a DoubleTree, I expected a much higher standard of cleanliness, communication, and customer service. This was unacceptable.
