The breakfast was superb and the staff were excellent nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money paid for our stay.
Some of the carpets and decor in some areas needs updating but overall the quality of food and the staff at breakfast made our stay thank you

Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous location. Staff were very professional and attentive. Small hiccup with our evening meal, but the manager Greg, rectified this.
Bar staff Tom and Hannah, both deserve a medal! They were both amazing
Our room was stunning, a junior suite in the attic, it could not have been more perfect.
All in all, a very lovely stay, which we are keen to repeat soon.

The hotel is very tired behind the scenes needs a spruce up , some floors are very uneven , trying to eat my cooked breakfast was a chore trying to eat with table and char rocking trying not to spill the drinks , the bedroom was very tired and the bathroom wastes were really smelly and the room smelt damp/musty .

Had afternoon tea here and everything was lovely. There was more than enough food, service was good and the room overlooking the gardens was beautiful. Sandwiches were plentiful and the sweet stuff was amazing (maple pecan tart thing was incredible!)
Response from Property: Dear Reviewer Thank you for your 5 out of 5 stars, you are so very kind, we do appreciate your great review, we make our own scones, cakes etc on site, this is an amazing grade 2 listed building set in historic grounds, the team work very hard on making Wortley Hall a great place to visit, we have lots of event on, we just had our Vintage Car Rally and next month we hold our South Yorkshire Festival which is a family fun day out, wine nights, garden walks, afternoon teas, shows, all listed in our events brochure. Hope to see you back soon Thank you again for your review, Yours Johnathan da Rosa General Manager

We were given a present of Afternoon Tea at Wortley Hall - we'd not been before. The whole experience was a delight. We had a friendly welcome and were shown to our table overlooking the garden. The house itself is quite special. Our Afternoon Tea arrived and was excellent. A variety of savory and sweet food. The quality and taste of the food was really good - probably the best we've had. There was too much for us to eat all at once and so we took the scone/cream/jam home for later. It was equally delicious. We walked around the park and gardens later in an attempt to use a few of the extra calories we'd eaten.

Absolutely terrible experience. Booked a premium room. But the room was small and the “en-suite” was tiny & shoe horned into a cupboard. We asked to change the room but the only other room available had a tiny bed. Room was dirty and the heating didn’t work. When we asked the duty manager she said the heating wasn’t on. Ceiling plaster was falling from the ceilings and the staff didn’t even clean the mess up from the carpets. When we asked where the restaurant was we were told it was closed (Wednesday evening). Such a shame that a beautiful building is suffering from absolute neglect and terrible management. Needless to say, we didn’t stay and asked for a refund. To summarise, a beautiful building suffering from years of neglect and lack of investment. Badly run and unclean. We will not be returning.
Response from Property: Dear Reviewer Thank you for your review, and I am very sorry you did not like the décor of the Hall, we dont normally have the heating on in July, but all rooms have fan heaters, safe, tea and coffee provided. The beds are standard double size bed or standard single so I am not sure what you mean my tiny bed? The restaurant and food service is open from 7:30am to 9;30 for breakfast and 10am to 9pm for snacks, bar food and restaurant food every day so I don't know why you thought the restaurant was closed, plus the full restaurant menu and bar menu is available from the bar as well. We are more than happy to give you a full refund, which we did, if you were not happy and we would do the same to any guest that did not stay. We are grade two listed and the building being some 250 years old is a little jaded but adds to the character. We are not for profit and we spend all we make each year on the building. All our rooms are different, some are newly decorated some are a bit older our attic rooms are in my opinion are five star and equal any in the area. As we are not for profit getting funds is very difficult, to give you an idea the Board room refurbishment was over £100,000 for one room, one light fitting in the main hall is valued at over £40,000 and cost almost £5000 to make repairs. We are working hard on upgrading the last remaining areas and most of our rooms are refurbished but when we get full which has been most of the time we have to use some of the older rooms but at £80 with think this is value for money, it can be £60 for two B&B or less on many week days we think we offer good as it is including the breakfast and VAT. Attentive staff, friendly. A large range of people here in a busy week. The trade unionist mindset is here and also newly wed couples bring family and convosation and the children are well behaved (even when being little ) Truly unique venue

Stayed with a group of 50 adults and children for an annual conference. The staff were amazing as usual. Nothing was too much trouble. The managers are so attentive to all that go there. The grounds are so beautiful and well kept… a place of tranquility, and when you finish your walk, they do an amazing afternoon tea. The room I had was huge and well maintained with a fantastic bathroom and plenty of hot water. The building itself needs a little work in places due to its age but nothing that would spoil your stay. The only negative (or a positive to some) is the lack of phone signal throughout the building. You mostly have to go outside to make or receive a call which is fine in good weather but I wouldn’t want to do that during cold wet evenings. Thank you to all staff for making our stay enjoyable. Look forward to seeing you next year

We booked an afternoon tea for an anniversary treat and it was amazing. We were served by Heather who was very attentive and really pleasant and friendly. The sandwiches were delicious, the sausage rolls were fabulous and the cakes and scones were all excellent. Heather refreshed our tea as often as we liked. We were completely stuffed by the end! Amazing value for money.

I recently stayed at the Wortley Hall hotel for the wedding reception of my granddaughter. The hotel is in a wonderful setting with lovely views, the staff friendly and efficient and the food excellent from the canapés on arriving to the final breakfast on leaving. A small negative is that some rooms are a bit tired but the hotel is steadily refurbishing as money becomes available as this is a non profit making business. I was lucky enough to stay in a refurbished room which was really lovely so worth trying out while prices are reasonable.

Another fantastic evening of good food, excellent wine, lovely staff, and a super comfortable room! Cannot recommend highly enough: we will certainly be back again! Our room had a huge bed and great shower - super comfortable. Breakfast excellent (black pudding particularly good!)

We went for a wedding we booked a night to stay as attending wedding there check in states 2pm we tried at 1.30 just in case but was told to come back at 2pm which was fine we went back at 2pm was told room not ready we went back at 2.45 and still not ready the groom went to check at 3pm for us and still not ready we went back at 4pm and finally ready and then upon checking in was told to pay even though I had already paid 2 days before, I actually work in a hotel reception and this would not happen at all, I didn’t sleep well as the duvet cover was bigger than the duvet and the bed was a very small double and heating wasn’t on so was very cold, we went for breakfast and the hot buffet wasn’t hot I asked for tea and got coffee in a tea pot, we left at 9am as we wasn’t happy with the overall experience, I’m not really a person that’s like complaining as I work in a hotel myself but the basic wasn’t met so I felt I didn’t enjoy my experience at you hotel, the place is a lovely place for a wedding but I felt the experience I received put a dampener on the weekend.
