The location was good but the building seemed like it was falling apart. Note: YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PUBLIC ONSENS WHEN STAYING HERE.

It is perfect for male travelers because the onsen is spectacular. On the other female onsen is super small and old. The rooms are not maintained, and they are falling apart. Tous the bigger issue was that the hostel doesn't belong to the hotel association so you won't be allowed to use the public onsens in the town

The parking lot was far away and hard to find.
There was a sign that there was a jacuzzi in the room, but there wasn't. There was a sign that there was a ping-pong table in the hotel, but there wasn't.
There weren't enough power outlets in the room.
The elevator prioritized luggage.
There was insufficient information about the baths in the hot spring town.
You can't enter without a guest key, so please stop telling people about them.
They made us take two rooms, even though three people could stay in one.

The hotel is quite old. The rooms are ryokan style and a bit dusty. There is no private bathroom. Parking is inconvenient.

Old hotel, no air conditioning, but for the price it seems like a good deal.

The hostess of this shop is very young and beautiful with a smile on her face! The temperament is very good👌👍! I visited this "hot spring street" and indeed the price of this "ape" youth hostel is the most affordable! Attached are the photos taken. It's less than 1,000 Taiwan dollars per person per night! This kind of hot spring hotel is really cheap! The hostess of this shop is very young and beautiful with a smile on her face! The temperament is very good👌👍! Hostel with traditional Japanese rooms, futons to lay out on the floor, and traditional under-table heating where you sit with your legs under the table and get lovely and warm. There are (seperate male and female) onsens downstairs, which were really hot (too hot for me to get into, but I enjoyed interacting with the Japanese family who were much better at getting in). My husband said the mens baths had an outdoor area, I don't know if the ladies also had one which I missed or not. Note that you can hire towels from reception if you haven't brought your own. We chose this because it was close to the snow monkeys so we could walk there rather than get the bus (approx 20 mins walk to the entrance, then about 25 mins walk up the path), but I'm so glad we did because it was a wonderful place to stay. We booked a room with shared bathroom (because that was all we could see online) but when we checked in the receptionist offered us the chance to upgrade to one with our own toilet which we did (only about 1200 Yen more). There was a communal kitchen area on the floor below ours, which was useful for making hot drinks, would have been a bit of a struggle to do much more than that I think, although there were lots of pots and pans. We arrived a bit early and had hoped to drop our bags at reception before check-in time, but the doors were locked so we carried on down the road and explored the delighful area and found a lovely little beer taphouse, so the time passed quickly and enjoyably! For food, we walked down to a Ramen noodle house just down the hill (cash only) which was very popular and got full soon after we got there with people queuing for tables. There didn't seem to be too many other places to eat in the close vacinity.

I'm a local. Recently, a foreign friend who was staying at this hostel while working for free told me that he was being abused by the owner. He was asked to change his plans and start work earlier than expected, so he went to help out. He was forced to work almost nonstop, and despite staying about two weeks, he was only able to sightsee for two days. Apparently, other children were also hit and grabbed by the arms, and he told me he never wanted to come to Yamanouchi Town again, which was very painful. I imagine that the current situation is making things difficult for the hostel, but if things continue like this, people who travel far from overseas will stop coming. I live far away and find it difficult to consult with the town office directly, so I would appreciate any help I could get from anyone who sees this comment. This is a wonderful hostel, so I hope that it will take advantage of its benefits and become a place where everyone can enjoy themselves. Thank you to everyone in Yamanouchi Town and to all the tourists out there.
