Reviews of Shangri-La Boutique Hotel

This was my first time staying at the Shangri-La Hotel Yilan. Even though it's an older hotel, the lobby is incredibly grand and comfortable, and the room was very spacious, clean, and cozy. I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance.

The outdoor water play area is clearly designed for children, not an actual swimming pool, which was a bit disappointing. While the breakfast had a good variety, some of the hot dishes could use improvement in terms of taste. The beds in the room were also an issue; if two people were sleeping, they would disturb each other easily, making it hard to get a good night's sleep.

The lobby offers 24-hour coffee and tea, plus snacks in the evening, though I didn't get to try them. Ordering takeout nearby was difficult; it took a long time for anyone to accept the order, and eventually, the noodle shop owner delivered it himself. The public pool is big enough for kids to play in, but it feels quite stuffy, and the outdoor area is too sunny.

I visited this place once over 20 years ago when it first opened for试营, and coming back after all this time, it's really evolved and improved so much. The only slight downside was a bit of a musty smell in the guest room, but that might just be me being sensitive to smells! Everything else was great, and the breakfast spread was fantastic. As a coffee lover, having a 24-hour coffee machine available anytime was such a thoughtful touch.

While it's an older hotel and the facilities aren't the most modern, it's very clean. The activities offered at the hotel were a lot of fun and a new experience for the kids, who absolutely loved them!

Didn't get to try the late-night snacks, but others did. This room type was perfect for our family of 5; we had a very comfortable stay. The breakfast selection was decent. The kids' favorite part was definitely the play area, where they spent a whole hour.

My stay at the Shangri-La Hotel was unexpectedly delightful. It happened to be raining, so it was great to be able to enjoy the hot springs right inside the hotel, complete with complimentary snacks. We even got to watch a movie! The room was very spacious and comfortable. The next morning, I had a blast taking beautiful photos while dressed in traditional palace attire. I'd definitely stay here again if I have the chance; it's perfect for families.

The hotel definitely has the age but still it has its own charm - rustic and away from all the noise.

Even though the surroundings aren't bustling, finding food nearby or a convenience store within a three-minute walk is no problem. The hotel, though a bit old-fashioned, is well-maintained, and the rooms are spacious. The bathtub is small, but still good enough for a soak, which was comfortable. Since there weren't many guests, breakfast was changed to a set menu with four options. It looked good, was Instagram-worthy, and tasted pretty good too. You could also order more, so you could eat till you're full or just pick at things. If you book on an OTA on a low-price day, it's excellent value for money because of the many hotel amenities. I feel the management really puts in the effort.

Found this resort to be excellent value for money. While the hotel clearly shows its age, the overall service quality and facilities are very good, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy. If you're staying here, I recommend checking in early to make the most of the amenities!

The breakfast was delicious, and the lobby lounge area was comfortable with complimentary cookies and coffee. The courtyard and splash pad were great for kids. However, the facilities are a bit dated. The SPA area was rudimentary and just barely functional. The upstairs bed in our family loft room was uncomfortable. The entryway light in our room flickered when turned off, so we couldn't switch it off completely. We only noticed after our child fell asleep, so we couldn't ask the front desk to fix it. The parking lot was unpaved dirt with no clearly marked spaces (or very unclear ones). Hotel guests and wedding attendees parked haphazardly. It was dim at night, muddy, and had many puddles when it rained.

This hotel is close to Yilan's Dongshan River, about a 10-minute walk away. Its European castle style is perfect for photos. The church behind the hotel is also a must-see for pictures, and the free afternoon tea and late-night snacks are an excellent value for money.
