I stayed in suite 505 during the holiday. It's a self-service hotel, so the chances of seeing anyone at the front desk were quite low. The check-in process was fine.
Because it opened this year, I assumed it was quite new. However, it seemed like it had just changed its name and undergone some simple renovations.
There were many problems inside.
Upon entering the room, there was a strong musty and damp smell. Opening the window helped dissipate the smell, but it was very hot when the window was open, so I turned on the air conditioning.
After turning on the air conditioning, the musty smell became even stronger. It was quite obvious that the internal components needed cleaning, and the filter hadn't been washed in a while.
Most of the wood veneer panels in the room were peeling and looked old, especially the wood veneer behind the bed; it was painful to look at, so I had to pretend I didn't see it.
The switch for the bedside lamp wasn't working; I don't know if the light bulb was burnt out or if it wasn't plugged in.
If you think that lamp was just decorative, it would be quite confusing.
The socket next to the bathroom sink wasn't working either, so I couldn't dry my hair in the bathroom.
The bed sheet and pillowcases had two hotel names on them, one from the previous hotel and one from the current one. I was starting to wonder which hotel I had booked! Haha. There was a red stain on the small towel.
It's probably from undiluted bleach.
It's not a big deal, just a nice touch.
The room's interior felt cheaply renovated, almost perfunctorily.
Many areas looked rough; the paint looked like it was DIY.
The screws on the bathroom blind's cover looked like they were about to fall off.
Some parts of the walls and ceiling showed signs of dampness.
The only bright spot was the view—a large field, but a pleasant sight for a city dweller.
The hot spring was also good; being a carbonated spring, it didn't have a sulfur smell.
(Ignoring the bathroom ceiling, blind cover, and the foam padding in the bathtub to prevent bumping your head, soaking was very comfortable.)
The train passing by wasn't very noisy; the soundproofing was pretty good.
I saw some reviews saying the train noise was terrible; I really shouldn't stay here.
The railway is right next to the hotel, and there are very few trains in Jiaoxi, so it's really not that noisy.
But at 3100 NTD per night, honestly, there are many more options in Jiaoxi. I hope they can properly renovate and beautify the interior.
