The White Horse

We booked a couple rooms for the night and found that the rooms were absolutely filthy. Not only that but you couldn’t even open the windows and the room was roasting (Windows were also covered in dust). We mentioned to the manager about the windows but she just seemed uninterested. The same person who left the bar unattended to help other customers to their rooms. Looking at the windows again I don’t think they could be opened at all. Honestly. I’ve never seen anything like it. Do they even clean the place? It was so bad that we decided to leave and go somewhere else to stay even though we’d already paid for it. We’re now fighting to get a refund as we will not stand for this atrocity. After leaving, we looked at the rooms on the website and they look beautiful. But this is clearly false advertising. Save your money. Stay away.

Not very happy property disgusted and not very clean and refuse to give refund as property left my mates feel upset we are seek to recovery our money as the property as refused to return a refund my mates as got learning disabilities and felt use felt of and we are now seek advice and report this matter as no refund was offered as the windows would not open and have been refused refund

The bar manager (owners daughter) was caught stealing our property when we visited this Inn with some friends. We caught her with our property and were then threatened with being assaulted by the bouncers if we didn’t immediately leave and even then she refused to return our property. Outside she continued to try to instruct the bouncers to hurt us and the people we were waiting with if we didn’t leave. Only when the police turned up 30 minute’s later was our property returned where it was ‘found’ on the floor by the bar manager herself.

Bedroom adequate although got a twin when we booked a double. Our Bedroom was above the bar and the noise from the music was unbearable until 1am

my first time staying here a felt very comfortable from the minute a got there lovely friendly family run business were amazing lovely cooked breakfast in the morning special mention to hayley 😀already booked to go back next year

I was visiting York and in passing i found out this nice quaint pub was having a karaoke night. So I bravely decided to visit it solo for a few drinks and to enjoy a sing song. And I left feeling very happy. As the bar staff were very welcoming, as was the karaoke DJ and all the patrons at the bar too. From what I saw it was filled mainly with known locals and if anything, they noticed I was an outsider and were still welcoming to me regardless. Should I ever visit York again, I will definitely make sure I return to this bar as it has to easily be 1 of the friendliest pubs I have ever visited in all of the UK.

We did not stay here but s Stopped here for our breakfast. Thoroughly decent fry up at a good price. Cant ask fairer tha that!

It's a decent enough pub with a good choice of beers. Friendly welcome, quick service. Food took a painfully long time to arrive and was average in quality and presentation. Maybe we were just unlucky?
