There is a pub downstairs and has the live performance till 11.

We stayed here for a night and loved it. A very nice pub with a very friendly atmosphere and host. The rooms are nice and modern with everything you'd need . The rooms were nice and clean. A great location and excellent value for money. And the brekfast in the morning was extremely good.

Chose the Victoria Hotel for its proximity to the Barbican as we had booked a concert there. Small car park, but most people walk or Uber. Room with en suite was fine but its a busy pub with music, and its on a busy crossroads so if you are disturbed by noise its probably not for you (we weren't - and it all calms down by midnight usually), but the karaoke night showed some good local talent. Amazing amount of work done by Tim who seemed to be everywhere all the time, greeting, serving, cooking etc! Breakfast choices were good and set you up for the day.

Came yesterday for food..I was excited before I entered. The signs for food, the flags then the beer garden all very welcoming..The pub has an oldy feel to it which is well worn but still ok. I particularly liked the games on the tables. We ordered food and played games . As we sat back down with drinks there was food brought from the kitchen . After 15 mins a pizza was brought to the bar it looked like ale was taken for batter and we still waited for our food..ours was the only other order for food fyi. During my wait I went to the toilets, takes aback by the smell soaked in urine drenched in cheap disinfectant that can't quite catch the smell. After another 10 mins I asked the server to find where our order was..I was promptly told it will only be another 5 mins the fish is done from fresh..can you explain why I waited 35 mins for a Philly steak sandwich..also why 35 mins wasn't long enough to inform me there was no mushrooms and fish and chips..Btw your batter was not whisked enough and the colour of the batter gives thought to dirty oil..it takes 4- 5 mins to fry fish coat in flour dip in batter..plus you have a oven for pizza so why was the ciabatta not warmed in the oven so it was warm and crunchy..your chef obviously needs help..I would say this as a drink pub absolutely amazing I would of given you a 5 but the wait and the food absolutely disgraceful..

We have just come back from a three night stay at this hotel. It is in a good location. An easy walk into the city centre and all the attractions (as long as you don't have mobility issues) There are 2 Chinese restaurants, an Indian restaurant and an Italian restaurant within a 5-10 minute walk and you can always eat in at the hotel. The menu offers burgers, pizzas, hot dogs and some traditional pub classics. Reasonably priced and good beer. The room we had was spacious and the bed was comfortable. They could do with investing in new pillows because the two I had were flat as pancakes. I was glad that I had brought my own. The towels are good quality but a bit small, There was a good selection of toiletries. Everything was pretty clean but there were some soap marks on the taps and one of the shelves in the shower room was a bit dusty. The room was a little on the hot side. You can hear traffic noise but it wasn't too much of a bother. The breakfast is good. There are several choices. They included black pudding and fried bread - the latter a real treat because I hadn't had it in years. There is a choice of cereal and spreads. No fruit or yogurts but a decent breakfast that sets you up for the day. The car park had ample spaces. The owner was very pleasant. Would stay here again if we were in the area.

As ever, this hotel delivered. Smashing meal in the evening, Good range of drinks available, friendly staff and everything was just easy. Comfy bed, clean room, tremendous breakfast. Really just the job.

Booked as we had an event at Barbican to see and this place is literally on its door step. Ive been in before but never stayed and have to say the room was just amazing. We had the odd blue light emergency feel light up the ceiling from time to time. But we where as warm as toast. When we arrived they lady behind the bar took us to the room and showed us around . It was the "deluxe double" at £129 for 2 and including breaky we felt it was decorated out to a higher standard than what the price was. Had a few beers before the show they have wall to wall ciders and one at 8.4% or something. I counted 9 in total. The pub is old and the carpet did look as old as the pub . But for a traditional local it fitted the bill. We where surprised at how manu young people where in at the time and we where told that its in the middle of the student lets. Didnt really know though so they must be well behaved. I like the pub having visited it before but my partner and i really taken aback by the room and then we have the food. A homemade chicken kiev and a victoria burger both with handcut chips. The kiev was tasty, garlicy and nice and juicy. She wasnt to fussed about the rocket salad on the burger but she just pulled it off. For me the best was yet to come a breakfast menu with no less than 8 items on including American Pancakes and yes i had them and it was too much 3 large pancakes 5 slices of smoked bacon smothered in maple sauce. The other breakfast was i think they call it tue Jorvok. Scrambled eggs, a hash browny and bacon on toast. She said the eggs where amazing. All in all this is a lovely pub hotel . Whilst we stayed for the show and live 20 mile away. This place is perfect to use as a base to see York. Highly recommended its just a friendly place

We went for Sunday lunch yesterday. It was a 3 meat carvery and was fantastic. All 3 meats were beautiful and tender, the mash lovely and creamy and all the veg lovely and fresh. It was incredibly good value for the money and I would highly recommend. We will definitely be back again soon. The pub itself is warm and inviting, it was relatively quiet when we were there but even so it was a friendly feeling pub.

This place is becoming my most favourite. Friendly, great location, easy, no fuss - and always bang on. Tim the proprietor has made it really easy to just enjoy as a venue. Totally recommend it.

This place used to be quite nice, but really disappointing now. Not recommended for a visit. Many better places in York.

Stayed here for 4 nights recently. Tim the Landlord is a very good host. Room was spacious and comfortable and had all the facilities we needed. Parking was good. Ideal location for walking into York centre, just far enough outside of centre to be away from the hustle bustle. Ate in the bar most evenings as the menu offered good choice, the actual food is spot on, he’s a great chef, reasonably priced too. Breakfast in the morning offers lots of choice and was, again delicious. We were here for an evening when karaoke was on, great entertainment.

It’s such a shame but we will not be going back. We went with friends on a Sunday afternoon as soon as we arrived you could tell it was a neglected place. I think the cleaner was on holiday as the floor was covered in bits of chips and crisps from days before. We ordered a selection of food, cheesy chips a curry and a gammon. The chips were half cooked with a sprinkle of cheese and at £5.50 very over priced and slow service. The chicken curry was dry and didn’t look nice pleasantly the gammon was ok. I always judge good places by the cleanliness of toilets and gas I gone before our food I would have run for the hills as I can honestly say these are the worst toilets I have been to in a very long time . Extremely dirty cob webs everywhere I actually don’t think they had been cleaned in months ! It’s such a shame as this pub/hotel is in a great place and could be a lovely place with some care and attention to detail. Also not a good look when the bar person stands behind the bar vaping !

I needed a place to stay in York on a busy weekend. The Victoria did the job well. Easy parking, friendly welcome and happy to check me in a little early. Room was fine and breakfast was better than many. Location excellent, just a short walk from the city centre up probably the best foodie street in York. Bathroom was fine although a bit more water pressure in the shower would have been nice. The bedrooms are above the pub and in busy part of town so not the quietest but this is true of many other places in central York. For my money, better than the Radisson.

My wife and I stayed there for one night because of its proximity to York Barbican & we really enjoyed our stay. The room was beautiful & comfortable & the evening meal & breakfast were both excellent. We would thoroughly recommend it as it's not far from the city centre & all York has to offer.
