Overall a lovely place, but our room number 10 was at the front Of the hotel and we were woken by noise from the bar accross the road on each night and also the delivery of barrels early one morning. Breakfast was superb and staff very friendly. Would stay again but at the back of the hotel

I had what they call a terrace room, well it was a room at the bottom of the pub beer garden. Don’t get me wrong the room was very nice apart from a mini bar fridge that was missing, if you wanted milk you had to go to reception for it, who wants to do that first thing in the morning? The blinds didn’t properly close so I had light shinning in from one of the rooms above the pub. I asked for them to be turned off the following night, that didn’t happen. What did happen though was I was woken up by three men having a loud conversation in the pub garden at 1.30am, I banged on my door to shut them up. All in all not a great stay and I will not be returning, so many other places to stay in York.

Great location, friendly staff, clean and tidy hotel. Comfortable bed. Always a pleasure.

A traditional and historical hotel with a perfect location in York. The room is nice and the bed is comfortable. Though it is an old hotel, it is not outdated at all and makes you feel good. The location is prime and there are lots of restaurants nearby and it only take a few minutes to walk to different attractions in York. The only downside is that there is a staircase in front and it will take you some energy if you bring along a large luggage.

The location is fantastic, though it does tend to get a bit lively with noise during the night.Great place.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location, close to the train station and the city centre. The staff are all lovely and our room was beautiful with all the amenities we could need. Will definitely be staying again.

This was a bar-hotel, and the so-called terrace room was just a room opposite the bar. The outside environment was dirty and chaotic, and minors had to pass through the bar to check in. To protect my child, I decisively checked out and changed to the York One Hotel. Ctrip did offer compensation, but the bad experience that day will be unforgettable. The terrible experience made me never trust online pictures again. This terrace room wasn't even in the main building; it was clearly built later for bar guests. Because the room had no ventilation, they only left a crack in the door to install air conditioning.
