This hotel is really terrible. My friend has been in Japan for 8 years. He only had two dinners here. The sashimi on the first day didn't look fresh, and the sashimi on the second day had only three slices of beef on one side and large intestine on the other. I used to travel to Japan every year before the outbreak, and I had never come across a hotel like this one. There is no kettle in the room, not even a thermos. If you want to drink hot water or tea, you can only go to the public hot water station on the first floor to pour a cup. After drinking it, you have to go downstairs to get more water. The Japanese food for dinner was also a mess. On the first day, the sashimi was all pickled or marinated, and even had a stinky smell; on the second day, there was only a small pot similar to a shabu-shabu pot, with only three slices of beef on one side and large intestine on the other. You have to know that Japanese people don't eat offal, it feels like it's targeting Chinese people. There was also a strong sewer smell in the room. We reported this to the hotel and they said they would fix it, but the smell was still strong the next day. They also refused to let us into the room to rest, using the excuse that they were repairing the sewer. On the morning of check-out, the water turned cold halfway through my shower. The temperature was minus 6 degrees Celsius, so I had to change rooms to take a shower. All in all, this hotel is simply not worth staying in. I hope Ctrip will remove it from the shelves and stop recommending it to Chinese people. These were the two dinners. The sashimi on the first day didn’t look fresh, and the pork on the second day had only three slices of beef on one side and large intestine on the other.

My wife an I had an amazing time at this ryokan. The facilities, hospitality and food are all worth 5 stars. As soon as we came in we were greeted with a delicious snack. The check in process was very simple and after a tour of the facility we were out enjoying the multiple onsen facilities. There are several baths areas. There are 2 traditional outdoor areas for women and men. There are 2 private bath area, both with an indoor and outdoor baths. And then there are 2 rooftop baths in the new building that was added 2 years ago. We booked a traditional Japanese room which was very comfortable and had a nice view of Mt Yufu. The food was outstanding . We had breakfast and dinner 2 days in a row and every dish was delicious and unique. The hospitality was outstanding, very attentive and they took care of every detail.

The ryokan is clean, and the room itself is nicely decorated and very comfortable. Service was excellent. Delicious dinner which included local specialties. I would absolutely stay here again.

Very nice ryokan, the staff was professional and polite. The food was amazing! Although the portion is quite big, and we can’t finish. Contrary to the reviews given by other commenters, there’s hot food for dinner and morning. There is free parking spot next to the hotel as well!

This was the first time my best friend Lina and I had stayed at a ryokan, and although it was a perfect trip overall, the only difficult part was walking up the hill to the ryokan with our luggage. The staff were very kind, and the two breakfasts and two dinners, each featuring exquisite delicacies, left us in awe every time. The temperature of the hot spring water was just right and gentle. What truly moved us, however, happened after we had checked out. While we were waiting in line at the Yufuin Station, the ryokan owner hurried toward us and handed me my sunglasses. The truth is, I had left the sunglasses behind, thinking they were too old to keep. The owner had noticed I had left them and retrieved them while cleaning. We were so touched that we almost cried. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family, and we are already planning our next visit. Arigatou gozaimasu!

I stayed for 2 nights and received impeccable service, I ate well, rested well and slept well. I choose the Japanese style room with a mountain view and had a relaxing time soaking at the onsen. They had 3 different area of public bath and I enjoyed the rooftop onsen the most, I even woke up at 6.30am to catch the sunrise with Mount Yufu. The lounge area is so aesthetically pleasing, really calms your soul and allows you to chill and unwind. I went for half board and food was excellent, presentation and taste was perfectly executed, I was so well taken care of by the host and I hope to come back again ^^ Japanese hospitality at its best, will totally recommend Ryokan Hachisunoito!
