The free airport shuttle drops you right at the hostel entrance. The staff gives you a map and your key. It’s a big room with lots of bunk beds, really takes you back to college dorm days! The beds come with disposable sheets and a bath towel. The communal bathrooms and toilets are in the central area. There are lockers available, but you need to bring your own padlock. At night, you can step outside and see a sky full of stars. I stayed on May 30, 2026. The daytime was hot, and the nights were cool, but not cold. The hot water tap at the sink was quite cold at night, but a bit lukewarm in the morning.

The location is great for grocery shopping, and the Uluru lookout point is also a huge plus. The heated common room with various games fosters interaction among travelers. However, there are areas for improvement: lockers are available but require a padlock, the showers could be cleaner, and more instructions for using the kitchen would be helpful.

I stayed in a 20 bed dorm room and the bathrooms are separate and are outside the dorm room. Both the dorm room and bathroom are comfortable and clean. There is a free shuttle that takes you to the town center and other resorts. There is a kitchen you can prepare your meals.
Response from Property: Dear Guest,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are delighted to hear you had a comfortable and enjoyable stay and appreciated the facilities and services available. We also appreciate you sharing your photos with us.Kind regards,Ayers Rock Resort Team

I was fortunate to have great roommates, making my stay comfortable and quiet. Even with the heating on during my June visit, it was so cold in the mornings that I'd wake up shivering, so I recommend bringing thick pajamas.

While the location is excellent and the low price is a definite advantage, the accommodation itself needs improvement. Cleanliness was not at a satisfactory level, and the beds were very basic. The absence of privacy curtains and protective rails on the upper bunk raised safety concerns and affected the overall comfort of the stay.
Response from Property: Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your comments and have noted your concerns regarding the condition and comfort of the accommodation. Your feedback will be shared with the team for review.Kind regards,Ayers Rock Resort Team

Every day there are free activities, including special animal painting and music learning sessions. The nearby observation deck is only about a 10-minute walk away. There's a shared kitchen where you can rent pots and pans, and the rooms have heating. The pizza from the hotel's small shop was decent. It's the last stop for the park shuttle bus.

It’s not a luxury hotel but the place is nice. The staff is helpful. If you don’t want to pay for the breakfast you can at least order for a coffee at the coffee shop, or pizza, burger :)

This is the most affordable and value-for-money option at Ayers Rock Resort. You can use the free shuttle from the airport to the accommodation, and the shuttle bus comes right in front of the property according to a schedule, which is very convenient. The lookout is also nearby. Shared toilets, showers, and an outdoor kitchen are available. The washing machine is free to use, but there's no dryer; you hang clothes on the outdoor drying rack. If I had to pick a downside, it gets really cold at night. The blanket is thin, and the heating isn't great.

This hotel is highly recommended for those looking to save on accommodation costs within the resort, especially if your priority is simply a clean place to sleep. **Convenience and Activities:** Many tour companies offer pick-up and drop-off services right in front of the hotel, making transportation incredibly easy. There's also a free shuttle bus stop within the resort, providing seamless access to other areas. **Social Atmosphere:** The on-site "Pioneer BBQ & Bar" is lively and features live music. If I ever come back to Uluru, I'll definitely stay here again!

I stayed at the lodge. It wasn't crowded, so that was stress-free. When using the kitchen, you can borrow a kitchen set (cutting board, knife, plates, knives, forks, etc.), but it wasn't very clean, and some of the knives were broken, which made me feel like the lodge staff didn't care.

There's a Uluru lookout point right inside the backpacker hostel. It's a lot further than getting into the park itself, but it's perfectly fine for a day when you're not using tours or buses. The showers and toilets have a lot of bugs, which is typical for the area. I was traveling alone, so I didn't have any issues, but if I were with my parents, I'd probably opt for a higher-ranked hotel. They offer free tea and coffee, and even though it was my first time in a 20-person dorm, it was totally manageable! There were also a lot of Japanese guests.

To visit Uluru on a budget this is an ok option. The lodges are very dirty, with not many positives other than they serve a purpose for those on a tight budget. Even in which case, having stayed in many budget accommodations, this wasn’t a great one. Location was fine as it is part of the resort. One plus point is it has good evening entertainment with live music, cook your own bbq and good vibes.
