Zulu Rock Lodge - Babanango Game Reserve

A great safari experience 3 hours out of durban. Uncomplicated drive out (just be wary of potholes) Beautiful views. Zulu rock was stunning. The endless views of the plains and river were stunning Rooms are modern, stylish and comfortable. Very large and roomy Full board (you pay for soft drinks at meals). Full was exceptional. Chef mthoko went all out. Consideration for our vegetarian preferences Manager mandisa was highly professional, went out of her way, such a lovely presence at the lodge. She has excellent conflict management skills and twice went out of her way to plan special events for us (we were celebrating a birthday) Game drives were nice. Small groups. Open vehicle. We didnt see all of the big 5 but did have an eventful drive Overall a fantastic experience. Will recommend

We loved Zulu Rock so much, we changed our whole trip and extended our stay at the Lodge. The reserve is breathtaking and the views from Zulu Rock are beyond words. It is a place where time can stand still. Even when out on drives, there is the time to simply watch rather unlike many other lodges. To us, this was such a massive part of the experience, there was no pressure to drive around to find other sightings when what was before you was amazing enough. We did the most fabulous bush walks with Kevin, seeing buffalo, cheetah, Zebra on foot whilst also learning so much about the smaller but just as important elements of the bush. The service was fabulous, everyone was just lovely, including Bongiwe, Thabi, Londi, Nadia and Mandissa (I'm so sorry if I haven't mentioned everyone by name).The food was superb, we enjoyed every single meal, which, in our experiences of other lodges is quite a rare thing! We loved Zulu Rock so much that we are going back later this year, although we are trying the new trails camp before going back to Zulu Rock. We have been on many, many safaris over the years, staying at 5 star lodges but Zulu Rock has exceeded all our other experiences, it literally ticks every single box for us. We really can't wait to go back and I imagine this will be our firm favourite and go to every time we return to South Africa.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay for three nights. The game drives were truly amazing, and the food and facilities were top notch. All the staff were lovely too. Fantastic stay!

The service at Zulu Rock was second to none. We were made to feel very special. The food was excellent, and our glasses never empty. The scenary is spectacular and our guide tried his hardest to seek out brilliant animal viewings. The area around the pool is relaxing and the view stunning. The accomodation could not be faulted, it was spotlessly cleaned and coming back to a lit fire after dinner each evening was a real treat.

Although new to Big 5, this game reserve is spectacular. The topography offers many different views and landscapes, the lodges were beautiful, well-appointed and modern with an African feel different in each lodge. Although we did have amazing sightings, I do feel like the reserve could do with more animals but understand that it takes time to get there! I look forward to going back in a few years to see how the population has increased.

I highly recommend this lodge. The staff were absolutely excellent and helpful in what ever I needed. Game drives were also excellent. Saw 4 of the big 5 and many other animals and the terrain is different to other parks. Our cheetah sighting was great and the view from my room was amazing.

My room, Deluxe no. 1 was incredible! It's private, large & very luxurious. The view from the bath tub overlooking the reserve was fabulous. The lodge, lounges, wine cellar, deck and pool area are stunning. The views are breathtaking. The staff were very friendly & always went the extra mile. The food was delicious & bountiful. The topography is unlike any reserve I've ever been to. The activities are diverse which makes the entire experience extraordinary. Highly recommended and definitely my favourite game reserve so far!!

Everything was beautiful, from the friendly staff to their excellent and uncompromising service. Babanango Zulu Rock has my heart laced on one of their rocks permanently in their mountains🫶❤️
