Iizuna Ski Resort in the Iizuna area of Nagano Prefecture is a compact and well-traversed slope😊⁡ ⁡ For beginners⁡ A wide and fairly gentle slope where you can practice as much as you like👍⁡ ⁡ For advanced skiers⁡ From the un-groomed snow at the top, through the tree run (the sign at the ski resort says it's a forest road course), and finally playing with items such as jibs and kickers. There are also secluded spots like Nishidateyama, Higashidateyama, Happo Bunadaira, and Sun Valley, perfect for a private retreat. The site of Japan's first ski lift (Maruike Ski Area A Course) invites you to reminisce about the past. The central area offers various modes of travel, including skiing, walking, open chairlifts, high-speed windproof chairlifts, old-fashioned small gondolas, and new triple gondolas. For me, it's not just a ski resort but a small snow world, diverse and waiting to be explored. Snow conditions are excellent, with frequent snowfall, a significant improvement from two years ago. This season, Japan is blessed with great snow, so feel free to dive in! The central area boasts numerous unique trails, ideal for those who enjoy experiential skiing. Some personal favorites include the winding forest path in Higashidateyama, which feels like entering a snowy fairy tale, and the solitary wide slope at Happo Bunadaira, a picturesque spot. The long, fast descent from the top of Nishidateyama 1 and 2 lifts is often deserted. The short but cozy trail at Tanne no Mori Okoshiyo, and the challenging A+Shirokuma course at Sun Valley, which remains in excellent condition throughout the day, are also noteworthy. 📍HAKUBA VALLEY Hakuba Iwatake Snow Park I don't plan to ski in Hakuba this time, I just want to play in the snow and soak in hot springs. On the first day, take the cable car to Hakuba Iwatake Ski Resort. I bought a sightseeing pass and went to the ice and snow park on the mountain. There aren't many people on weekday mornings, so you can play the Snow Mountain Swing without queuing. It's so beautiful to take pictures with the Northern Alps of Japan as the background! Afterwards, we went to the Instagram-famous observation deck to have coffee and check in. Then we went to the nearby snowfield to rent snow tubs and snow equipment, and before going down the mountain, we went to Canteen to eat curry rice~ We had a relaxing first day in Hakuba. #GlobalTravel #Nagano #Snow Scenery

Located 5-10 minutes by car from Togakushi Shrine, this is a popular ski resort for skiers. I stayed in Nozawa Onsen for 3 days and 2 nights to go snowboarding. This area has many cafes and izakayas, and I felt that the most distinctive feature was that there were more foreigners than Japanese people. The town is old-fashioned Japanese, but the people living there are foreigners, so it's a bit of an unusual place. But it's fun. Every store I went to was always attended by foreigners, and some of the owners were foreigners. When I talked to a foreign store clerk, he said that he came on a working holiday and was working hard while looking forward to snowboarding. The town also had old-fashioned buildings and atmosphere, and the snow and scenery matched very well, making it very stylish. For me, the main attraction of Nozawa Onsen is being able to enjoy snowboarding and skiing, taking a bath in the hot springs, and having delicious food at a ryokan. If you have time, you won't get bored even if you visit cafes and restaurants other than the ryokan, so I felt that it was a tourist spot. There are a few free hot springs scattered around the city, so it's fun to explore them. Although our purposes are completely different, I think this is the perfect place for those who want to study English and enjoy snowboarding and skiing!
