Slow Life by the Sea | A B&B You Won't Want to Share

Slow Life by the Sea | A B&B You Won't Want to Share

|A B&B you won't want to share. I went to Guoqing Temple during the day, and Linhai was a spontaneous decision. I planned to book a room after I arrived, but the hotel I wanted to book was full. I happened to see [Chengjian No. 1]. I habitually searched elsewhere, but there was little information and few reviews of the B&B. I was torn between driving home late at night and staying for a night. I can accept less-than-perfect attractions and food when traveling, but I can't compromise on accommodation. The B&B is next to the ancient city wall, within walking distance of Ziyang Ancient Street. It's easy to find, but the entrance is small and unassuming, which made me hesitate a little. But! I was pleasantly surprised after checking in! 🐯 The public area is quite spacious, with a wall full of books. I worked in the public area the next day (as a real estate agent, I have to bring my computer everywhere, haha). The receptionist thoughtfully brought me hot tea, which was a nice touch. ⛺️ The outdoor lawn is connected to the city wall, matching the slogan on the wall: [A Courtyard with a View of the City]. I had the courtyard to myself that night, and I could see the stars. It was quiet, and there were no annoying mosquitoes. The interior is minimalist, and the bedding is great. As a homebody, I was willing to stay for a few more days. After a busy week, spending a night in a comfortable place is the best way to relieve stress~ (The photos don't do it justice. You should experience it for yourself, hehe.) The nine-grid Chinese breakfast was too hearty for my small stomach. It included seasonal fruits, black rice porridge that tasted like home (a little sweet), and side dishes. It would have been perfect with some plain porridge. 📋 Just a few dozen meters from the hotel is [Zaiwang Bookstore], which is worth a visit. There weren't many people, and I spent a quiet afternoon reading. The B&B is secluded but not isolated. Linhai left me with an impression of leisure and a unique atmosphere. In short, it was a delightful trip, and I'll definitely return.

Linhai|Ziyang Ancient Street

Linhai|Ziyang Ancient Street

A prefecture city, an old street, spanning a thousand years, this is Ziyang Ancient Street in Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang. Every so often, you can see a wall made of blue bricks. The names of the walls have long been blurred and are barely recognizable. The names on the walls are place names. This Yongjing Wall, Wuzhen Wall, Fengxian Wall, Yingxian Wall, and Qinghe Wall were jointly established by five people, including the Ming Dynasty scholar Wu Zhiyu, in the nineteenth year of the Ming calendar. Each wall exudes an ancient charm. Despite the vicissitudes of time, these ancient buildings still retain their original appearance, making one marvel at the wisdom and architectural skills of the ancients.

Ziyang Street is about a kilometer long, running from south to north through the entire Taizhou Prefecture city, and this marketplace alley still retains the street pattern of the Song Dynasty. The bustling ancient street is lined with shops and crowded with people, with plain-clothed vendors loudly hawking their wares, the air is filled with the fragrance of special local delicacies from Linhai's time-honored brands, and at the foot of the city wall, the ancient stage is alive with the sound of drums and music, with melodious singing, and internet celebrities in ancient costumes can be seen everywhere, Ziyang ancient street is filled with a strong sense of the world's hustle and bustle...

A must-visit city: Taizhou!

A must-visit city: Taizhou!

Inspired by a photo, I decided to go on a whim! I came across a picture of the Ruyi Bridge in Taizhou Shenxianju, a glass bridge shrouded in clouds and mist, seemingly suspended in mid-air. I was instantly captivated! After some research, I discovered Taizhou not only boasts mountains and seas, but is also a paradise for soft and chewy delicacies. I immediately grabbed my friends, booked tickets, and set off! Day 1: A Day of Exploring Natural Wonders 📍 Tiantai Mountain Grand Waterfall The "Grandest Waterfall in China" lives up to its name! Standing on the viewing platform, the mist sprays your face, and rainbows appear and disappear. Wearing a *hanfu* here makes for stunning photos (non-slip shoes recommended). After descending the mountain, I stopped by the former residence of Ji Gong and listened to the fascinating stories of the Living Buddha. 📍 Guoqing Temple A Sui Dynasty temple with a 1,400-year history, it's bustling with worshippers yet tranquil. The temple grounds are filled with ancient trees, and the vegetarian meal is only ¥5 for all you can eat, adding to the Zen-like atmosphere. Photo tip: The temple's yellow walls + rice paddies make for perfect ancient-style photos! Day 2: Shenxianju + Xiaoruo Village 📍 Shenxianju The Nantian Peak glass viewing platform offers a panoramic view of the surrounding peaks, and the Ruyi Bridge stretches across the valley like a jade *ruyi*. Adventurous friends can challenge themselves on the high-altitude rope bridge! I recommend taking the cable car up the mountain to save energy and walking down the cliffside plank road. The whole trip takes about 4 hours. 📍 Wenling Xiaoruo Village In the evening, I rushed to the "Chinese Cinque Terre"! Colorful houses + sunset fishing boats, add a creamy filter, and the photos are divine! Stay at a nearby B&B and wake up early to watch the first rays of sunlight hit the sea at Millennium Dawn Park. It's incredibly romantic! Day 3: Slow Living in the Ancient City 📍 Taizhou Fu City Wall (Jiangnan Great Wall) Even more beautiful than the Great Wall of Beijing! Climb the 198 steps from Lansheng Gate to the top for a panoramic view of Linhai. The ¥70 combined ticket includes East Lake, where the Jiangnan gardens and the reflection of the ancient pagoda make for stunning photos in a *qipao*! 📍 Ziyang Old Street A paradise for lovers of soft and chewy treats! Seaweed cakes, egg white sheep tails, *wufan machi*... ¥10 will get you more than enough to eat! I recommend the time-honored brand "Wang Tianshun" for freshly baked, crispy, and fragrant cakes. Tips: 1️⃣ Transportation: 2-hour direct high-speed train from Shanghai/Hangzhou. Carpooling or renting a car is recommended for traveling between attractions. 2️⃣ Accommodation: B&Bs near Ziyang Street in Linhai are highly recommended, averaging ¥150/night. 3️⃣ Things to avoid: Changyu Dongtian is quite far, so you can skip it if time is tight. Be sure to ask about prices before ordering at seafood restaurants! Taizhou, a city of "mountains, seas, and cityscapes," is truly worthwhile! Whether you're an introvert enjoying the scenery alone or an extrovert having fun with friends, you can find your own sense of relaxation here.

Very good value

For about 60 USD a night i think Vance offers very good value. The breakfast and facilities were decent. I might have used the gym, laundry and room service. All of it was satisfactory. The area is purely meant for by business. I mean it's a small town with a lot of luxury car show off and factories. The people staying here are a mix of business travellers and crazy rich pricks. It is impossible to find a room where some guy hasn't smoked. Even with lots of warnings written everywhere. Otherwise, quite decent. People are helpful and friendly. #chinatrip #taizhou

🌿Shibankang Village, Taizhou, Zhejiang|A hidden gem for photography, where light and shadow weave through time✨ 👍Recommended Reasons (350 words) This is a wonderland forgotten by time! Shibankang Village is nestled among the mountains in the eastern part of Linhai. Once a quarry site, it has now transformed into a natural photo studio. The mottled stone walls are engraved with the passage of time, and sunlight penetrates the crevices, casting down beams of Tyndall light. The reservoir changes color with the light, from emerald green to sapphire blue. Every photo taken here has a cinematic quality📸. The village has not been overdeveloped, offering beautiful scenery with few crowds. Strolling through it, you can hear the harmonious concerto of mountain winds and birdsong. Whether you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city or seek a unique travel experience, this place can satisfy all your fantasies of "poetry and distant lands." 📍Detailed Address Shibankang, Xiao'ao Village, Linhai City, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province (Navigate to "Xiao'ao Hiking Trail" or "Linhai Dajian Mountain." You may need to ask villagers for directions on some sections of the road.) 🚗Transportation ✅ Self-driving: Self-driving is recommended. Navigate to "Xiao'ao Village" or "Dajian Mountain." There is free parking at the village entrance (the last few hundred meters are dirt roads, passable by cars, but drive carefully). 🚫 Public transportation: There is no direct public transportation. Taxis or chartered cars are recommended. 📸Photo Spots|Time Tunnel Cave The main cave is tens of meters high, with sheer cliffs on all sides. When sunlight shines obliquely, it creates "Jesus light," which, combined with the mirror reflection of the reservoir, makes every photo a "cyberpunk" masterpiece. Light-colored clothing (white/beige/light brown) is recommended to create a sophisticated contrast with the blue-gray stone walls. 🏨Accommodation|Guinange Homestay 📍 Address: Ta Hou Village, Chicheng Subdistrict, Tiantai County (about 1 hour's drive from Shibankang) 🌟 Features: A Chinese-style courtyard at the foot of Chicheng Mountain, renovated from an old house, retaining the rammed earth walls and wooden beam structure. Rooms are equipped with smart home systems, and bamboo groves sway outside the windows. In the morning, you can walk to Guoqing Temple to hear the morning bells and evening drums. 💰 Price: approx. CNY 500–800/night (including breakfast for two) 🎫Tickets 🎫 Free! No entrance fee, no parking fee, truly burden-free fun~ ⏰Opening Hours Open all day (best shooting times: 9:00–11:00/15:00–17:00, soft lighting) 🍜Nearby Food 1️⃣ Egg White Sheep's Tail: A Taizhou intangible cultural heritage snack, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, red bean paste balls coated in fluffy egg batter, sweet but not greasy. 2️⃣ Mai Bing: Savory and soft dough filled with preserved vegetables and minced meat, served with a bowl of seaweed soup, authentic farmhouse flavor. 📸Recommended Lenses 📸 Wide-angle lens: Capture panoramic views of the cave, the texture of the stone walls, and the trajectory of light and shadow. 📸 Telephoto lens: Compress the background and highlight the interaction between people and light beams. 🛍️Shopping 🛍️ Recommended: Handmade bamboo weaving (cup mats, storage baskets) from the small stalls at the village entrance. Natural bamboo patterns combined with simple designs make them stylish gifts or souvenirs. 💗Practical Tips 1️⃣ Navigation Tip: Some sections require turning onto small country roads. It is recommended to download offline maps in advance or ask villagers for directions to the "Shibankang Hiking Trail." 2️⃣ Safety Precautions: The stone steps inside the cave are slippery, so wear non-slip shoes.
