Choshi travel guide and discussion

Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. When I visited Choshi, I stopped by Choshi Ichiyama Ikesu for lunch. It was around 1pm on a weekday, but there were more people there than I expected. The restaurant has a large number of seats, and there's plenty of space between them, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal. Some seats offer a view of the ocean, which was a nice perk of being able to enjoy the scenery while I dine. This time I had a sashimi platter, beer, and a fish tempura bowl, and the fish was all fresh and delicious. There was also a large fish tank inside the restaurant. This is a great place to enjoy fresh seafood and the scenery in between sightseeing in Choshi. I highly recommend it, so please give it a try. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 📍Ichiyama Fish Tank 7387-5 Kurou-cho, Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture 288-0003 ☎️0479-22-7622 🚃Choshi Electric Railway Approximately a 10-minute walk from Kasakamikurou Station ・Approximately a 10-15-minute drive from JR Choshi Station #Chiba #Choshi #Seafood #Gourmet

The Inubosaki lighthouse is overwhelmingly famous in the area, but the beauty and presence of this small lighthouse standing on the coast of a small cape where the waves are crashing is overwhelming. On the almost untouched beach, there are only the work tools of the fishermen and telephone poles. They look amazing in any season, regardless of the weather or time of day. Recommended for those who want to spend some time alone! When traveling by car, you must also consider securing a parking spot.

It is located 7-8 minutes walk from Kannon Station on the Choshi Electric Railway. It has a splendid five-storied pagoda, and I feel that it is a temple that is the heart of Choshi town. You can also enter the main hall and pray while you are ordering the goshuin. The Choshi Electric Railway runs once an hour during the day, so I think it would be a good idea to take your time to visit the shrine and then board the next train.

Byobugaura is located in Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. The cliffs stretch for many meters and are very impressive! Combined with the atmosphere of the adjacent Choshi Marina, you can enjoy a view that feels like you are in a foreign country. Because it resembles the White Cliffs in the Straits of Dover, it is also called the Dover of the Orient and is used in commercials and TV dramas. #Choshi #Inubosaki The lighthouse in Inubosaki is pure white! I've heard that white is a good color for lighthouses, so maybe that's why? Even the mailbox in Inubosaki is pure white, so it's all white! From the lighthouse you can see the Pacific Ocean, and I was reminded of how vast the ocean is. There are also great scenic spots nearby, such as Byobugaura, so I'd like to visit again. #SummerShortTrip

For the Mid-Autumn Festival, a time for reunion, we are giving you a romantic gift—the Love Tunnel in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, which we visited earlier this month. The Japanese version of the Love Tunnel is actually a railway scene, not a dedicated pedestrian tunnel. It is located near Moto-Choshi Station on the Choshi Electric Railway in Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. It gets its name from the dense trees on both sides of the tracks that form an arched green tunnel. Exact location of the Love Tunnel: The section of the Choshi Electric Railway from Moto-Choshi Station toward Tokawa. Best viewing spots: The platform at Moto-Choshi Station or the nearby overpass, where you can watch vintage trains pass through the green corridor. Best season: It is most dreamy in spring and summer, while autumn brings golden hues. When we visited earlier this month, it still looked like summer. Unlike the original in Ukraine, walking on the tracks is strictly prohibited in Japan; you can only view it from the train or the platform. The trains that pass through are mostly retired vintage models, which adds a retro charm to the green corridor. On this day of reunion, take a romantic trip to the Love Tunnel with your loved one!

This trip to Chiko City, chose the dog barking first sightseeing hotel as a base 🌊 The biggest reason is that I really want to stay away from the hustle and bustle, hang out on the Pacific coast hea for a few days 🍀 Not only the scenery is excellent, transportation is even easier than I imagined, in Tokyo Station Yaesu Bus Terminal take the high-speed bus 🚏 sit two hours directly to the hotel door, frequent shifts, drag large luggage do not bother. The hotel's location is very advantageous, walk over to Inukai Sai Lighthouse to take pictures and Inukai Sai Station beautiful photos is very convenient 🛳️ nearby completely no high-rise buildings cover, open the window or bath is a sea view, plus the room design is spacious enough, some rooms also have a massage chair 💺 Some rooms even have bathrooms facing the sea. Get up early, take a bath and wait for the sunrise🛁 is really invincible. The hotel's most special feature is the free daily tour 🚌 If you are in a hurry on the day of your stay, remember to register with the front desk a little early (usually departing at 4 or 5 pm), the hotel will arrange a special car to take you to Inuyan and Yasuzi Pier for excursions 🏝️ There is also a guide along the way in detail. Although the hotel staff can only communicate in Japanese, their attitude is super polite 🤵🏻♂️ they want to help you in every possible way — this feeling is very warm. In terms of service, in addition to the lobby has a full comic 📚 game corner 🧸 press chair to kill time, the biggest selling point is the hot spring ♨️ This time I finally experienced what is facing the sea and sipping soup. The outdoor hot spring area is full of space, facing the surging sea, immediately calm 😌 Dining area looks out is invincible sea view, kaiseki cuisine is also very fresh 🍱 sashimi platter are the surrounding 銚zi fishing port day's catch 🎣 Special recommendation to add iron plate steak 🥩 ready to order, thick and tender, melt in the mouth, completely surprised. If you have enough budget, we also recommend tasting the unique local golden snapper🍣 whether it is sashimi or sauce cooking. Finally, I have to mention that the interior and rooms of the hotel are somewhat dated, and the facilities are certainly not as good as five-star and newly renovated hotels. When you stay, you can adjust your mindset as an experience of the Showa-style old-style hot spring inn🎎 The beautiful sunrise view and traditional Japanese-style service to relax and enjoy is definitely worth a special experience🌅 #Kirikoshi #Inubaraki #Miankai Onsen #Japan Resort Hotel #Tokyo Suburbs Relaxation Recommendation #japan #japantrip #japanhotel #staycation #tokyo #travel2026 #onsen #sushi

Planning a whale watching trip to Choshi, but unfortunately the boat engine broke down. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to go out to sea next time! The wet pancakes on the Choshi Electric Railway were pretty good! Thumbs up! It's a sister railway to the Su'ao Line in Taiwan! #whalewatching #Choshi

📍3-Day, 2-Night Walking Trip Across Chiba Prefecture 🚩Route: 120km from Maihama Station to Choshi 🚇Transportation: Walking Only 📷Recommended Photo Spot: Rice Fields and Wide-Open Sky 🍜Recommended Food: Choshi Seafood Rice Bowl 💡Note: Walking 120km is tough. This was my first time walking over 100km, and it was incredibly difficult... Once I got away from the city center, there were no convenience stores and I couldn't take a break. There were times when I walked for 5 hours straight. It's good to take a walk and get away from your smartphone once in a while! #Chiba #SoloTravel

When visiting the **Inubosaki Lighthouse** at the easternmost tip of Chiba Prefecture, the most awe-inspiring aspect is the profound sense of magnificent isolation, as if you've reached the "ends of the earth." Designed by Richard Henry Brunton, the "father of lighthouses," this white brick structure boasts over 150 years of history. It's not only recognized as one of the "Top 100 Lighthouses in the World," but also serves as one of the very first landmarks in Japan to welcome the first light of dawn. Aesthetically, the striking contrast between the pristine white tower and the deep blue Pacific Ocean is truly breathtaking. Climbing the 99 steps to the top rewards you with an expansive, dramatic panorama of the sea on three sides. Watching the white-capped waves crash against the rugged reefs allows you to deeply feel the untamed wildness of the ocean. Right at the base of the tower stands Japan's only **white postbox**. Sending a postcard from here feels as though you're mailing the very essence of the ocean to your loved ones far away. Strolling along the nearby coastal trails, taking in the brisk sea breeze and the salty air, you'll realize this place is more than just a guiding light for sailors. It's a healing sanctuary where you can clear your mind and actually perceive the curvature of the Earth where the sea meets the sky. This experience is a true sensory awakening that beautifully blends historical craftsmanship with unparalleled seascapes, capturing the purest rhythm of life at the easternmost edge of the Kanto region.

#JanuaryDestinations2026 Only here in all of Japan! In front of the Inubozaki Lighthouse stands a very special "white mailbox." While most Japanese mailboxes are red, this one is painted pure white to match the lighthouse's color, earning it the nickname "the mailbox that brings happiness." It's said that if you drop a letter in, happiness will be delivered to the recipient. Many people buy a postcard to write their wishes and send it to their future self or someone special. The white lighthouse + white mailbox + blue sea—this color scheme is practically designed for wedding photos! 💑 🌟 Insider Tips: 1. Send a postcard: Nearby shops sell lighthouse-themed postcards, which will have a special local postmark after mailing. 2. Beach walk: The coastal path (walking trail) below the lighthouse is very gentle, perfect for a stroll hand-in-hand while listening to the sound of the sea. 💡 Transportation Information: • Tram: Take the retro-styled Choshi Electric Railway to Inubo Station, then walk for about 7-10 minutes.

#JanuaryDestinations2026 When visiting Choshi, Chiba Prefecture, you absolutely must challenge yourself to climb this pure white giant! The Inubozaki Lighthouse is one of only 16 remaining lighthouses in Japan that you can actually climb. Climbing the 99 spiral stairs might sound tiring (it really will leave you breathless 💦), but trust me, the view from the top is absolutely worth it! Standing on the observation deck at the top, with a completely unobstructed 360-degree panorama, the Pacific Ocean horizon appears in a perfect "arc." The sheer awe will make you truly feel that "the Earth really is round!" Moreover, this lighthouse is constructed from 190,000 bricks and is an Important Cultural Property of Japan; the white brick walls are incredibly textured up close. 📸 Must-See Highlights: 1. Panoramic View of the Lighthouse: Stand on the walkway below and look up to capture the blue sky, white tower, and green grass all in one shot. 2. Giant Lens: Inside the tower is a massive Fresnel lens, the heart of the lighthouse, which is incredibly spectacular up close. 📍 Attraction Information: · Admission Fee: Approximately NT$65 (300 yen) for adults. · Opening Hours: 08:30 - 16:00 (subject to slight seasonal adjustments).

There was no one at Choshi Marina, so we had the sunset all to ourselves.

The sunset was absolutely beautiful and there was a square that we had all to ourselves, it was amazing 😀

Address: 288-0026 Naarai-cho, Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture (Choshi Marina) Tourist Spot: 40-minute walk from Tokawa Station (I went by bicycle). There's plenty of parking, so it seems like many people arrive by car. This is the #1 beach you should definitely visit when you visit Choshi! ✨🌊 There's a promenade, so I recommend walking while enjoying the beautiful scenery. There's also a sandy beach, so you can relax there! It was early June, so there were hardly any people there. There's also the world's smallest aquarium nearby, so if you're curious, check it out. #DomesticTravel #Sightseeing #SeasideView

🌅A breathtaking trip to Inubosaki Lighthouse, where you can see the earliest sunrise in Japan Inubosaki Lighthouse, located at the easternmost point of Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture, is a historic white lighthouse built in 1874 by a British engineer. The author visited in spring and was taken aback by the panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean that spread out before him after climbing the 99-step spiral staircase. At the foot of the lighthouse, there is a "white post that brings happiness" and an exhibition of a giant lens that was actually used, so there are plenty of things to see. It is also famous as a spot to see the first sunrise of the year, and is perfect for commemorating with your lover or contemplating on a solo trip. This place, where history and nature blend together, is sure to be a memorable trip. 🚃Access: About 7 minutes walk from Inubo Station on the Choshi Electric Railway. 🚗By car: About 1 hour from Sawara-Katori IC on the Higashi-Kanto Expressway. Transportation: About a 7-minute walk from JR Choshi Station/Choshi Electric Railway Choshi Station 📍Address: 1465 Myoken-cho, Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture 🕰️Opening Hours: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Myofukuji Temple, located in Choshi, was established in the third year of the Shōwa era (1314), boasting over 700 years of history. The temple enshrines the deity Hokushin Myoken Daibosatsu, known as the guardian of the East Sea and a bringer of good fortune. One must-see attraction at Myofukuji Temple is the 'Wisteria of the Lying Dragon.' This wisteria, believed to be 750 years old, was transplanted from Kyoto's Imperial Palace to the temple during its construction, utilizing Choshi's advanced water transportation system. Every May, the wisteria blooms, creating a six-foot-long canopy resembling the shape of a dragon, hence its name. The 'Wisteria of the Lying Dragon' is a purple wisteria. When I visited in late April, about 50% of the flowers had bloomed, with roughly 1/2 to 1/3 of the clusters still in bud form. Full bloom is expected around late April or early May. Besides the Lying Dragon wisteria, the temple also has another smaller wisteria trellis, which was about 80-90% in bloom during my visit, with almost no gaps between the flowers and leaves. Unexpectedly, I also discovered a white wisteria trellis! The white wisteria clusters are shorter in length but visually appear fuller and more lush, creating a dreamy effect. Under sunlight, the white flowers almost seem overexposed. In addition to the wisteria, the temple grounds feature scattered azaleas and other flowers, as well as beautiful floral water basins. Myofukuji Temple offers wisteria-themed goshuincho (temple stamp books), seasonal wisteria goshuin (temple stamps), and wisteria-themed omamori (charms), making it a delightful place for shopping.

5 days 4 nights Japan trip Starting the first day after landing at Narita Airport, the next station is ‘Choshi’ The first restaurant we went to is called ’Hitachi Fish Dish.’ The Japanese person who took us there recommended it because it’s quite popular, mostly visited in the evening. But even so, the food served was very fresh and delicious. Each of us got a set like this, absolutely amazing 👍🏻 Next, we went to ‘Yamasa Soy Sauce Factory visitor.’ We tried ice cream made from the factory’s soy sauce. The taste was super good, kind of like salted caramel ice cream. We also tried cola made from the sauce, which was great to drink with the sparkling drink served alongside—just perfect. On the second day, after traveling to Tokyo 🚅 We went around Ito Yokado near Kiba, where there’s a big 7-Eleven. After walking around the mall, before getting on the train, we stopped to buy hot matcha latte at Tully’s Coffee to recharge. Being in Japan, how can you miss this? In the evening, we went straight to eat fresh sashimi at ‘Kaiten Sushi Misaki.’ The taste was great, I give it 3 thumbs up. It felt like eating omakase for sure. The next day, we ate sushi again, but this time we tried a famous sushi chain that’s trending in Thailand now, called ‘Sushiro.’ I want to say the taste was amazing, even better because there was no need to queue here. In the evening, a Japanese friend invited us to eat sukiyaki together. Usually, we only see beef or pork sukiyaki, right? But here, no. It was ‘duck sukiyaki.’ Such a surprise, never tried it before. They said it’s a local dish from Nara city. The duck was very fresh with no gamey smell. The appetizers were great too. The best part was this meal was filling and budget-friendly 😂 The next day was time for our last day of exploring on our own 🫠 Today was like walking around, shopping for souvenirs, and eating!!! The first place we went to was Asakusa. The street food along the way was so abundant. I highly recommend the green tea shop in Asakusa—it’s amazing, with a strong roasted bean aroma. Next, we headed to Shibuya!! Time to find lunch. We decided to queue at ‘Roast Beef Ono’ after hesitating because the line was very long. The restaurant is underground, down the stairs. But I must say, meat lovers must not miss this place. The set we ate was A5 Wagyu beef, size M, priced around 2,200 yen, excluding drinks. The price was reasonable, but the taste was the best. We were full until dinner. After that, we walked around Shibuya for a while and stopped to eat dorayaki at a famous shop whose name I can’t remember, but the line was very long. We ended the dinner with yakiniku!!! Of course, coming to Japan without eating yakiniku is a no-no. For dinner, we went to ‘Gyu-Kaku’ near Shinjuku. The food was really good. It’s a buffet style with prices to choose from according to your budget. We went for the cheapest set, which was about 900 baht in Thai currency, but totally worth it. If you go to Japan, I hope you get to try the restaurants I recommended. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed 🫶🏻

#AprilGoodDestinations2025 #千叶 #铓子 # inubisaki # inubisaki lampstand Transportation: Take the Choshi Electric Railway to Inubozaki Station and walk for about 15 minutes or Arrive at Kimigahama Station and walk to Kimigahama Shiosai Park and then head to the lighthouse for about 30 minutes (personal recommended route) Visit time: Late April 2025 There are many reefs in the waters near Inubosaki, and many shipwrecks have occurred there. The shogunate in the Edo period built a lighthouse here. The current lighthouse was designed by the British and was completed and lit in 1874, the seventh year of the Meiji era. It has been guarding this sea area ever since. The light of the lighthouse is said to be visible from 19.5 nautical miles away. Inubosaki Lighthouse was selected as one of the top 100 lighthouses in the world and is a historical lighthouse that represents Japan. To walk from Kimigahama Shiosai Park to the lighthouse, you have to climb a flight of stairs to reach the cape where the lighthouse is located. From a distance you can see the white lighthouse standing on the dark cape. Although the lighthouse has been standing for 150 years, its appearance is well maintained and does not look old at all. It looks very beautiful in photos against the blue sky behind. You can visit the exhibition hall and climb to the top of the lighthouse by buying a 300 yen ticket. The information exhibition hall introduces the history of the lighthouse, and you can also see the huge lens used in the lighthouse up close. To get to the top of the lighthouse, you have to climb 99 steps, but once you get there you can see the entire coastline. The only slight problem was that the wind was so strong on the windward side that I couldn't open my eyes, making it difficult to take pictures. The produce shop next door sells coffee and light meals, and you can also buy some local specialties such as fruits, vegetables, and seafood. If you want to see the sea and relax, this is a great spot to spend an afternoon leisurely.
