Luhe, I have known for many years that plum blossoms grow here and that it produces green plums. I have always longed to see the plum blossoms and have been talking about it for many years. This year, I finally came. However, it was a lonely and disappointing sight. Luhe has a history of over 700 years of green plum cultivation and is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Green Plums." The county has more than 100,000 mu of planting area. The plum blossoms usually bloom between Minor Cold and Major Cold, but due to this year's extreme warmth and drought, the plum trees bloomed early and withered early. Without the bitter cold, many trees did not bloom at all. It is said that green plums will definitely be more expensive this year because no flowers mean no yield. We visited the Luodong Secluded Plum Garden, a 4A-rated attraction, and the Gongguang Plum Garden, which has the largest planting area. Both are hidden in mountain hollows at about 400 meters elevation. Unfortunately, all we saw were bare branches. The good news is that the plum trees are quite old, with dark, intertwined main trunks that are simple and stubborn, making for good photo subjects. The white plum blossoms here are single-petaled, with very small buds, delicate and elegant but not striking. However, if they were in full bloom, densely covering the hills from top to bottom, it would be spectacular. Of course, this is my imagination; what I actually saw was only a gray-brown thicket.

Such a great temple turned museum where you can explore and find out a lot about Chinese culture. Right in the middle of Foshan, you get to find out about martial arts, opera and faith all in the same place. As a bonus, several times a day you get to experience the famous lion dance, and by the looks of it the lions are quite the rockstars - everyone and their babies will try to touch them for good luck. I would recommend seeing it during the week and if you want a good place for the lion dance be there with at least 30 minutes prior to the event as it gets quite crowded.

The hotel rooms are generally good, featuring large areas, high ceilings, and a strong spatial feel, making them very comfortable. Basic room amenities are complete, including a kettle, hairdryer, hangers, towels, etc. However, there is no refrigerator or bathtub. 😅 With so much space in the room, having a large bathtub for soaking would make the experience even more enjoyable. Since the hotel is located in a relatively remote area, nearby facilities are limited to one or two local restaurants, small shops, and stalls selling farm products. The hotel provides free facilities for playing badminton and table tennis (rackets included). During our stay, the four of us played badminton for half an hour. 👍🏻 Nearby the hotel is a plum garden, but unfortunately, it's not the blooming season now. At dusk, you can enjoy the sunset views. After breakfast in the morning, you can take a relaxing walk along the creek and farmland, which greatly improves your mood.
