Parma travel guide and discussion

Parma wasn’t originally the star of my Italy plans—but it absolutely should have been. Tucked away in the Emilia-Romagna region, this city is everything you want from Italy without the overwhelming crowds: warm, welcoming, effortlessly beautiful, and full of incredible food. 🍷🧀 📅 My Perfect Day in Parma (24th) I arrived in the morning by train, which was quick and easy, and instantly felt the slower, more relaxed pace of the city. Parma is wonderfully walkable, so I dropped my bags and headed straight out to explore. The highlight of the day was visiting the stunning Parma Cathedral. Its Romanesque exterior is beautiful, but the real magic is inside—the frescoed dome is breathtaking and completely worth lingering over. Just next door, the Baptistery of Parma is equally striking with its pink Verona marble. From there, I wandered toward the Palazzo della Pilotta, a vast complex full of history, art, and culture. Even just walking around its grounds gives you a sense of Parma’s quiet grandeur. Of course, no trip to Parma is complete without indulging in its food scene. I spent the afternoon hopping between little bars and cafés, enjoying local specialties like Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma—simple, perfect, and unforgettable. 🥖🍖 🏰 Optional Adventures If you have extra time, I’d highly recommend heading out to the fairytale-like Castello di Torrechiara. It’s a short trip from the city and offers incredible views over the countryside—romantic and slightly off the beaten path. For something completely different, there’s also Fidenza Village—a designer outlet shopping destination. It’s perfect if you fancy picking up Italian brands at discounted prices (and don’t forget the tax-free savings at the airport! 🛍️). 🏨 Where I Stayed I stayed at Hotel Torino, and honestly, it couldn’t have been better. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city—and my room had a private terrace overlooking the cathedral. Waking up to that view felt surreal. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the whole experience just added to Parma’s charm. 💛 Final Thoughts Parma completely exceeded my expectations. It’s elegant but unpretentious, rich in culture but never overwhelming, and filled with genuinely kind people. Whether you’re there for the food, the history, or just a peaceful Italian escape, it’s a city that quietly steals your heart. If you’re planning a trip to Italy—don’t skip Parma. You’ll wonder why more people aren’t talking about it. 🇮🇹✨ #Parma #HiddenGems #ItalyTravel #FoodieHeaven #EmiliaRomagna

#Sign up for tripbest July Hotel Tester Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca, commonly known as La Seu, is a Gothic Roman Catholic cathedral of the Diocese of Mallorca, located in Palma, Mallorca, Spain. This church is one of the representatives of Gothic architecture, known for its magnificent stained glass round rose windows and towering vaults, and is a local landmark. It was built on the original mosque, so it has a bit of an exotic flavor. Later, it became the main cathedral of the Roman Catholic diocese, with Gothic pointed arches and ribbed vaulted ceilings and huge stained rose windows. Because there are light shows at certain times, it is so shocking to see the light and shadow of the stained glass reflected on the stone pillars; the gorgeous main altar and the interior designed by Gaudi require tickets to visit, but it is worth it. From the cathedral, you can overlook the beautiful bay.

#cityplaybook #stunningview 📍 Palazzo della Pilotta, Parma, Italy #CityPlaybook #Parma #ItalyTravel #Landmarks #HiddenGems A fortress of art, history, and timeless elegance. In the heart of Parma stands the massive and mysterious Palazzo della Pilotta—a complex that feels like a world of its own. Behind its austere exterior lies a treasure trove of Italian heritage: majestic halls, rare books, ancient sculptures, and one of the oldest theaters in Europe. I wandered through the Galleria Nazionale, admired masterpieces by Correggio and Leonardo’s circle, then stepped into the spellbinding Teatro Farnese—a wooden wonder frozen in time. It’s hauntingly quiet and completely awe-inspiring. Tip: Combo tickets give access to the library, archaeological museum, gallery, and theater—absolutely worth it for history lovers. Must-snaps: · Teatro Farnese’s wooden stage and curved balconies · Grand stone courtyard · Ornate ceilings inside the Galleria Parma may be famous for food—but Palazzo della Pilotta feeds the soul.

🕰️Historical background Parma Cathedral (Cattedrale di Parma) is located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Construction began in 1059 by Bishop Cadarussa and was consecrated by Pope Pascal II in 1106. The church dates back to the 6th century and was later rebuilt in the 9th century. 🏗️Architectural style and reconstruction The church combines various architectural styles. It was rebuilt in 1117 due to an earthquake and its magnificent facade was completed in 1178. Between the middle and right doors is the tomb of the mathematician Biagio Pelacani (died in 1416), adding cultural depth. 🔔The charm of the Gothic clock tower The Gothic bell tower built between 1284 and 1294 is the highlight of the church. Although the bell tower on the left was not completed, its towering figure still makes it a great spot for photography enthusiasts to take photos. 🛁The beautiful company of the baptistery Flanking the cathedral is the octagonal Parma Baptistery, which features a unique design and exquisite carvings, showcasing the essence of medieval art. 🗺️Visit suggestions When visiting Palma, don't miss this cathedral. Slow relaxing chill day in Parma! There are no much in Parma, I have been to a park and walked around the city. In the park, there is a small pond with ducks and birds around everywhere, see how nature is doing and slow down your pace, have a mind break during weekend. Walk across the bride seeing the great sunshine and blue sky, going into alley you will see some beautiful Italian culture decoration, go future into the city, visit the duomo, every duomo in Italy have its own history, visit all of them to understand the development of Italy.

It is the weekend in which the Italian F1 fans celebrate the 100 years of Monza. I was supposed to go there to celebrate with other Ferrari fans and to pray that the team does not screw up the race again with all kinds of technical failures. Alas, being unable to beat the zeal, fervor and passion of the fans, I could not secure any tickets in time to indulge in this grand occasion. I would not be there physically but definitely in spirit. The gathering of Tifosi in Lombardy definitely spiked up the price of accommodation in Milan. Long story short, I ended up in Parma, tasting the best cheese (parmigiano reggiano) and enjoying melon with prosciutto crudo (Parma ham). And a visit would be incomplete without including the admiration of Correggio’s paintings in your itinerary. Wanting to enjoy free entrance, we only entered Parma Cathedral and San Giovanni Evangelista. Please do yourselves a favor and check out the opening hours, because they might be closed for riposo (the so-called siesta). #bucketlistreboot #italy

Parma is the perfect weekend getaway. It’s not too far away from Milan on the train. A city that’s beautiful to explore but more importantly, you can’t leave without trying the world-renowned cheese and ham! Bonus points if you manage to score some Culatello di Zibello, a specially cured meat with the a Protected Designated of Origin. It is only processed during the colder months and is aged for at least 10 months to an average of 14 months. The result? A mild, sweet and delicate flavor that you just can’t get enough of! I can’t wait to be back just so that I can get a tray of this. Given the strict compliance to achieve the D.O.P mark, it is also really hard to find so don’t miss the chance when you’re in the region! #parma #culatello #italianfood

I thank you for an opportunity to stepped in this land while I was supporting my friend in a very tough time. This is one of the tourist place in the CBD Parma, Italy. This building is open for people to visit as well as there is priest in there to pray for people.

#Overseas Travel I can never resist the temptation of Italian Gelato in summer. I want to try it every time I go shopping! In spring and summer, there is always a long queue at this Grom ice cream shop💛, because Grom uses the freshest, highest quality and most seasonal ingredients to make ice cream🍦 and does not add preservatives and coloring, so this shop has always been very popular👍🏻! Not only in Parma, there are now branches in more than 30 towns across Italy including Milan, Florence, Venice, Rome... #ItalianTravel #EuropeanTravel #OverseasTravel

#Overseas Travel Parma is a small and exquisite town in northern Italy, and a day is enough to stroll around it. The Duomo Cathedral doesn't have a gorgeous exterior, but its interior is filled with murals that are surprising! Parma's low-key cathedral and baptistery built of pink marble. The cathedral is covered with exquisite murals, and the golden organ in the church is very eye-catching. In several corners of the city center of Parma, pianos are placed for people to play freely. The melodious music can be heard from time to time, making the town more lively and full of vitality. In the central square of Parma 🇮🇹, Italy, there is a very delicate classical sundial on the clock tower. The sundial is an ancient clock that indicates time based on the shadow cast by the position of the sun☀️☀️. I looked at it for a long time but still couldn't understand why the sundial was one hour slower than the clock on the clock tower 😁. It turned out that in Italy, the time of that visit was during daylight saving time (in order to make use of more daylight, people moved the clock forward one hour, thus turning it into daylight saving time). So, the electronic clock in the clock tower that day showed 5pm⏰, and the time shown on the sundial was 4pm. #ItalianTravel #EuropeanTravel #OverseasTravel

Why Bologna, and why NOW? Bologna just became Italy's most underrated city break. In 2026, the city welcomed over 2.5 million visitors — a record — yet it still feels like a secret compared to Florence or Venice. The city's 62 kilometres of porticoes were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making Bologna home to the longest portico in the world — a 3.5-kilometre covered walkway climbing to the Sanctuary of San Luca. And here's the kicker: it's known as "La Grassa" (the Fat One) for a reason. This is Italy's food capital, and a full meal still costs under €15. But here's what the algorithm won't tell you: most visitors see the Due Torri, eat a plate of tagliatelle, and leave. They miss the hidden canals of Via Piella, the 7 churches stacked into one, and the €1.50 espresso where Bologna actually breathes. This guide is built for the traveler who wants real value. Save it. You'll use it. 🚌 TRANSPORT: The €1.50 Bus That Beats Every Taxi The mistake starts at Marconi Airport. Taxis quote €25–30 to the city centre. The Marconi Express monorail costs €12.80 and reaches Bologna Centrale in 7 minutes. For getting around the city, TPER buses cost €1.50 per ride — buy tickets at any tabaccheria before boarding. A day pass costs €6, and a 24-hour ticket is €5. The walkable city rule. Bologna is flat, compact, and walkable. The historic centre is just 1.5 km across. The Portico di San Luca — a 3.5-kilometre covered walkway with 666 arches — is the longest in the world and free to walk. Take the San Luca Express train from Piazza Maggiore if you don't want to hike. It costs €10–15. The one thing to know: Bologna is a university city — the oldest in the Western world, founded in 1088. That means cheap food, cheap drinks, and a young, buzzing energy that most Italian cities lack. 🍲 FOOD: The €12 Tagliatelle That Beats Every Restaurant Bolognese food is not what you think. Spaghetti bolognese does not exist here. The real dish is tagliatelle al ragù — fresh egg pasta with slow-cooked meat sauce, served in Bologna, not spaghetti. It's tortellini in brodo — tiny meat-filled pasta in a rich capon broth, the Christmas dish. And it's mortadella — the city's famous cured meat, better than any bologna you've ever had. The osteria rule. A plate of tagliatelle al ragù at a local osteria costs €10–15. Tortellini in brodo runs €12–18. A piadina — flatbread stuffed with cheese and cured meats — is €5–7 from any street stall. At Osteria dell'Orsa, a student favourite near the university, a full meal costs €12–18. Look for the osteria with locals in work clothes. That's the one. Must-try, ranked: · Tagliatelle al ragù — the city's signature dish. €10–15. · Tortellini in brodo — the Christmas classic. €12–18. · Mortadella — the real bologna. €5–8 for a plate at a market. · Piadina — the street food of the region. €5–7. · Espresso — the daily ritual. €1.50 at any local bar. The aperitivo rule. Bologna invented the aperitivo — a pre-dinner drink that comes with free unlimited food. At Le Stanze or Camera con Vista, a spritz costs €6–8 and includes a full buffet. That's dinner, essentially, for under €10. 🗺️ HIDDEN BOLOGNA: 3 Places Tourists Miss 1. Finestrella di Via Piella (The Little Window) — Bologna's hidden canal, visible through a small window set into a wall on Via Piella. Press the shutter open and you'll see the Canal delle Moline — a surviving fragment of the city's medieval canal system. It's easy to miss. Look for the small crowd of tourists peering at a wall. No entrance fee. No tour buses. 2. Santo Stefano (The Seven Churches) — A complex of seven churches built into one, dating back to the 5th century. It's one of Bologna's most atmospheric sites, with a labyrinth of chapels, courtyards, and ancient stone. Entry is free. Almost no foreign tourists make it here. That's exactly why you should. 3. Certosa di Bologna — A monumental cemetery that's more of an open-air museum than a burial ground. It's filled with sculptures, frescoes, and tombs dating back to the Napoleonic era. No entrance fee. No crowds. Just you and the silence. Honorable mention: Giardini Margherita — Bologna's largest park, perfect for a picnic or a run. No entrance fee. No tour buses. 💰 BUDGET REALITY CHECK Bologna is moderate for Italy — cheaper than Florence or Venice, similar to Rome, and far more affordable than Milan. It uses the euro (EUR). · Budget traveler: €50–70 per day — hostel dorms, osterias, public transport. · Mid-range traveler: €100–150 per day — private rooms, restaurant meals, occasional taxis. · Tagliatelle al ragù: €10–15. · Tortellini in brodo: €12–18. · Piadina: €5–7. · Espresso: €1.50. · Aperitivo with buffet: €6–8. · Bus ride: €1.50. · Marconi Express: €12.80. · Hostel dorm: €20–35 per night. · Guesthouse (private room): €60–100 per night. Realistic daily budget: €50–150 depending on your style. Budget travelers can stay under €70 with hostels, osterias, and public transport. Mid-range travelers spend around €130 with private rooms and occasional restaurant meals. 🙏 ETIQUETTE: 5 Unspoken Rules That Matter Bologna runs on warmth, food culture, and a few unwritten rules that locals take seriously. These aren't tourist rules — they're how the city works. 1. Never order spaghetti bolognese. It doesn't exist here. The dish is tagliatelle al ragù. Ordering spaghetti bolognese in Bologna is like asking for a croissant in Naples — you'll get a look. 2. Coffee is a ritual. Don't rush it. An espresso at the bar costs €1.50 and is drunk standing up, in one or two sips. Cappuccino after 11 AM is a tourist tell. Drink it like a local: espresso, morning, standing. 3. Use your right hand for eating, giving, and receiving. The left hand is considered unclean. When eating from a communal plate, take from the section directly in front of you. 4. Don't sit at a table if you only want a coffee. In Italy, standing at the bar costs less than sitting at a table. At a table, the price can triple. This isn't rudeness — it's just how it works. 5. Tipping is appreciated, not mandatory. In restaurants, 5–10% is standard for good service if not already included. Leave it in cash on the table. For taxis, round up. For hotel porters, €2–5 per bag. 💾 SAVE THIS POST IF: · You're planning Bologna in 2026 — it's Italy's most underrated city break, with 2.5 million visitors and the world's longest portico. · You want to eat tagliatelle al ragù for €12 and find the Finestrella di Via Piella before the crowds do. · You believe the best travel intel comes from real experience, not recycled top-10 lists. Drop a 🇮🇹 in the comments if Bologna is on your 2026 list — and follow for the Parma & Modena deep-dive next. #Bologna2026 #BolognaTravel #HiddenBologna #TripMoments #TripCoins #TravelHacks #BudgetTravelBologna #BolognaGuide #ItalianFood #TagliatelleAlRagu #TortelliniInBrodo #ViaPiella #BolognaOnABudget #TripCom

Lost in Padua's retro, slightly tipsy atmosphere, it truly feels like stepping into an old Italian film ✨. Located on a corner of Piazza San Antonio in the city center, All'Ombra della Piazza is a tiny shop where the air is filled with the aromas of red wine 🍷, cheese 🧀, and freshly baked cicchetti (super fragrant Venetian Italian bread rolls)—it's simply irresistible! Upon entering, you'll see a full wooden wine rack, crystal-clear glasses, and a super handsome Italian bartender at the bar making drinks—the eye-catching factor skyrockets 🤩! Once seated, you must order a glass of authentic local Ombra wine, paired with a baguette slice piled high with figs and Parma ham—pure bliss! The slow life of Northern Italy is actually this simple—chill, sip some wine, enjoy some snacks, and quietly savor every moment. Tips: · 📍 Address: All'Ombra della Piazza, Piazza della Frutta, 11, 35122 Padova PD, Italy · 🕚 Opening Hours: Usually from noon to evening (check daily opening hours in advance) · 🚇 Transportation: It's right next to the central square of Padua, super convenient location! Sina Maria Luigia truly lives up to its place on Trip.com’s Top 10 4-Star Select Hotels in Province of Parma. I rated it a solid 4 out of 5 for its luxurious environment, comprehensive facilities, and exceptional service. The staff stood out for their proactive approach—always ready to help and quick to resolve any requests. One moment that impressed me was their efficiency in arranging a taxi for my morning departure; it took just 5 minutes, which made my travel stress-free. The room was spotless, the bathroom immaculate, and breakfast was a treat! If you’re thinking of booking, here are some tips: · The staff are extremely helpful, so don’t hesitate to ask for assistance; whether it’s transport or local recommendations, they handle things swiftly. · The hotel’s cleanliness and attention to detail will make your stay comfortable. · Enjoy the breakfast, which offers fresh options for a perfect start to your day. · If you need a taxi, simply ask at the front desk—they are fast and reliable. Overall, I highly recommend Sina Maria Luigia to friends and travelers. My trust in Trip.com’s rankings has also slightly increased after this stay. For anyone seeking a blend of luxury and attentive service in Parma, this hotel delivers.

We spent 12 days in August at this boutique hotel in Mauritius. To summarize in one word: PERFECT. Even searching for flaws, I could not find a single issue worth commenting on. Truly deserving of its five-star luxury status. · *Location and Services:** Situated on one of the island's most stunning beaches, it’s meticulously maintained, cleaned every morning, and, most importantly, offers peace and top-notch services like loungers, umbrellas, a bar, and a restaurant. Akshay and Narain, the Beach Boys, were delightful and highly professional. The hotel itself is visually stunning, offering five-star luxury-level amenities: a Valmont Spa, gym with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment (including two spinning bikes which were perfect for me), tennis and padel courts, as well as water activities like water skiing and sailing lessons—all provided at an indisputably high level. · *Food & Beverage:** As an Italian accustomed to fine gastronomy, being able to use the term EXTRAORDINARY for the three resort restaurants’ offerings is saying a lot. These restaurants could easily thrive in Milan, where competition is fierce. Variety, quality, presentation, and creativity honor the chefs and their culinary team. The exceptional quality and attentive service in the dining rooms rival a Michelin-star restaurant. · *Rooms:** The hotel exclusively offers suites—just 69 in total—all with sea views. They are spacious and finely detailed, featuring a large bathroom with both a tub and shower, as well as a separate toilet area. While not equipped with windows, this is rare to find elsewhere too. We opted for the junior suite (the smallest) since we only needed to sleep there, but its size, thoughtful details (e.g., power outlets accommodating EU, UK, and USA standards), and cleanliness were impeccable. The high-quality towels and Acqua di Parma personal care products are another standout. · *Common Areas:** The garden is obsessively well-tended, the cleanliness is flawless, and fine attention to detail is evident everywhere. The bar area has a chic atmosphere, complemented by nightly live music performances both during and after dinner. For fans of Rum and cigars, the offerings are excellent. · *Service:** The service was impeccable. Attention to detail is present throughout the hotel, with a staff exuding professionalism, genuine courtesy, and empathy that never felt forced or artificial. This extends to everyone—from housekeeping staff to servers, Beach Boys, Helena from Guest Relations, and Director Patrice, who personally ensured our satisfaction multiple times. · *External Excursions:** We organized outside trips with a local agency, Mautourco, coordinated with the hotel. These were truly enjoyable and featured Italian-speaking guides, which was much appreciated. Kailash and Dev particularly deserve recognition. · *Beachcomber Chain:** You've won me over!

Italian 🇮🇹 King of Cheese 👑: Parmigiano-Reggiano vs. Parmesan 🧀—What’s the actual difference?! We see "Parmesan" cheese 🧀 all the time, but did you know 🤷‍♂️ that the true "King of Italian Cheeses" is officially called Parmigiano-Reggiano 👑? While it’s often referred to as Parmesan in English 💬, the price 💰 and quality between the two can be worlds apart! 👑 The True King 🏆: Parmigiano-Reggiano Strict "Birth Certificate" 📜: To carry this name, it must be produced in one of five specific regions 📍 in Northern Italy 🇮🇹 (like Parma or Reggio Emilia). It carries the DOP (Protected Designation of Origin 🛡️) seal, and you’ll see the name pin-dotted onto the rind 🧀—think of it as a "designer tattoo" 🖋️ of quality. All-Natural 🍃 Ingredients (Only 3!): Raw (unpasteurized) milk 🥛, salt, and natural rennet. Absolutely 🚫 no artificial additives 🧪. Aging ⏳ & Texture 👅: Aged for at least 12 months 🗓️, sometimes up to 24 or 36 months! The longer it matures 🕰️, the more "tyrosine" crystals 💎 develop, giving it that signature crunchy texture, rich nutty aroma 🌰, and intense Umami! 🛒 The Budget Alternative 🎭: Parmesan The Naming Gray Area 🌫️: In Europe 🌍, "Parmesan" is legally protected as the English name for Parmigiano-Reggiano. However, outside Europe (like the brands we see in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 supermarkets), "Parmesan" is just a generic term. Different Ingredients 🧪: It’s not restricted by geography 🗺️ and is usually made with pasteurized milk 🥛. For convenience 🥫 and mass production 🏭, pre-grated Parmesan often contains 😅 "cellulose" (an anti-caking agent) or is blended with cheaper cheeses 🧀. Flavor 👅 Comparison: It’s often one-dimensional and quite salty 🧂, lacking the complex nuttiness 🥜 and depth of the real deal. 💡 Cheese Shopping 🧀 Tips 📝 Want the ultimate flavor 🤤? Next time you’re at the supermarket 🛒, look for a "whole wedge" with the DOP seal 😍. Grate it yourself right before serving, and your pasta 🍝 will instantly level up! Remember to 👍 Like, Save 💾, and Share with your 🧀 "cheese-loving" friends! 📲 Follow for more 👏 foodie facts!

Having a candlelit dinner with my husband tonight 🕯️. We chose "UNO," an Italian restaurant in Tai Kok Tsui with a warm and stylish ambiance 💖. As two massive cheese monsters, we vowed to go all out on the cheese from starters to dessert! 🤤 🔸 The "Cold Cuts and Cheese Platter" boasts a luxurious lineup 👑. The 18-month Parma ham is savory and tender 🥓, the Milano salami packs a mild spicy kick 🌶️, and the pistachio mortadella offers a crunchy, nutty surprise 🥜. The stars of the cheese selection are the nutty Parmigiano 🌰 and the smooth, milky Provolone 🥛. Paired with olives, sun-dried tomatoes in oil 🍅, and layered on Sardinian flatbread crackers, the textures and flavors are absolutely mind-blowing 💥! 🔸 The "Four Cheese Pizza" is purely wicked indulgence 😈! The mozzarella gives a satisfyingly dense cheese pull 🧀, the intense savory punch of Gorgonzola blue cheese rocks your taste buds ⚡, the Tuscan Pecorino adds its unique earthy tang 🐑, and the smoked Scamorza brings a lingering woody, smoky finish 🔥. These four distinct characters melt together perfectly on a thin and crispy crust 🍕. Every bite is a symphony of cheesy goodness 🎶. 🔸 For the "Seafood Risotto," a rich lobster bisque coats perfectly al dente rice grains 🦞🍚. It's loaded with sweet Sicilian red prawns 🦐, tender scallops, and briny mussels and squid. Sea asparagus and a hint of lemon provide a fresh, zesty balance 🍋, yet that subtle, rich undercurrent of cheese still lingers beautifully on the palate 🌀. 🔸 The "Italian Cheesecake" makes for a perfect finale 🎂! The Mascarpone cream is as light as a cloud ☁️, the crushed amaretti cookies add a wonderful crunch 🌰, and the macerated fresh berries bring a tart, refreshing balance 🍓.

I'd always heard Bologna was Italy's "culinary capital," so even though I only had one day, I decided to join a food tour through trip.com, hoping to try all the local specialties in one go. My biggest takeaway was: I was so full! 🤣 I initially thought I'd just sample a little of everything, but the portions at each stop were incredibly generous. From bread, cold cuts, cheese, and pasta to desserts, paired with different wines, after the tour, I didn't need dinner at all. The most delightful surprise of the entire tour was the Parma prosciutto. So thin it was almost translucent, the fat melted slowly in my mouth, a savory flavor with a hint of natural sweetness. Paired with a glass of local red wine, it truly gave me a "this is real Italy" feeling. Compared to the prosciutto I usually eat, it was completely different, and it was my favorite dish of the whole trip. Another star of the show, of course, was Bologna's most famous Tagliatelle al Ragù. From the very beginning, our tour guide kept emphasizing that we should forget our usual stereotypes about spaghetti bolognese, because you'll almost never see "Spaghetti Bolognese" in Bologna. The truly traditional version is handmade fettuccine served with slow-cooked Ragù. Honestly, although I often eat spaghetti bolognese and it does taste great, I personally couldn't really tell a huge difference between it and a typical high-quality spaghetti bolognese. 😂 The most commendable aspect of the entire trip was our tour guide. She didn't just read from a script; instead, she chatted with everyone, asked questions, joked around, and created a very relaxed atmosphere. She also shared a lot of food culture knowledge that only locals know, such as how to distinguish genuine Parmigiano Reggiano, why Bolognese people don't use the name "Bolognese," and how to pair different wines with different foods. Even though the group members came from different countries, everyone chatted naturally, and the interaction was truly high. Besides eating, the Food Tour also took us through the streets and alleys of Bologna. Compared to Rome and Venice, there are far fewer tourists here, making it feel more authentic and lived-in. Strolling under the ancient arcades, listening to stories and enjoying delicious food, several hours passed by in the blink of an eye. 📌 Personal Rating: 9.5/10 ✔️ Food portions far exceeded expectations; it's recommended to participate on an empty stomach. ✔️ Highly Recommended: Parma prosciutto with red wine, gelato ✔️ The guide was very interactive, making the whole experience relaxed and fun. ✔️ If you only have one day to visit Bologna, I think the Food Tour is well worth it. Three hours is enough to experience the city's most important cultural element: its cuisine.

I cannot praise the team at Room Mate Giulia enough. On June 3rd, we arrived at the hotel around 1:00 PM to check in, only to discover in absolute panic that we had left our three passports and a significant amount of cash in the room safe at our previous hotel, Starhotels Du Parc in Parma. While I was at the reception desk calling the previous hotel to confirm our belongings were there, the Concierge Manager at Room Mate Giulia, Mr. Andre, stepped in. Seeing our distress, he immediately took charge and provided an incredible solution to ensure everything was safely retrieved from Parma and brought back to Milan. Thanks to his swift action and professionalism, all of our irreplaceable items were safely returned to us by 8:00 PM that same day. Every single staff member at Room Mate Giulia is incredibly friendly, always wearing warm smiles, and genuinely willing to go the extra mile to solve problems that aren't even their responsibility. We are profoundly grateful for their extraordinary help, especially Mr. Andre. They turned a potential travel nightmare into an unforgettable display of hospitality. We cannot thank you enough!

Some museums are famous. Others quietly gather masterpieces under one roof and wait for curious travellers to find them. The Umbria National Gallery in Perugia is one of those places. Room after room unfolds like a journey through the Renaissance, where works by Piero della Francesca, Perugino, Fra Angelico, Duccio, Benozzo Gozzoli, and many others hang only a few steps apart. Every gallery offers another encounter with a master. One painting stopped us in our tracks—a tiny angel by Pinturicchio, tears welling in its eyes. Somehow, that quiet expression became the most unforgettable moment of the morning. Funny how the smallest detail can outshine even the biggest names. If you're lucky, you might also catch one of the museum's temporary exhibitions. During our visit, a special exhibition dedicated to Giotto marked the 800th anniversary associated with Saint Francis, making an already extraordinary museum feel even richer. 📍 Location: Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria, Perugia, Italy 🖼️ Highlight: One of Italy's finest collections of Umbrian and early Renaissance masterpieces ✨ Feature: Works by Piero della Francesca, Perugino, Fra Angelico, Duccio, Pinturicchio, Giotto exhibitions, and more 🍃 Atmosphere: Quiet, scholarly, and endlessly rewarding 📸 Best for: Renaissance art lovers, museum enthusiasts, and anyone seeking Italy's lesser-known cultural treasures 💡 Travel Tip: Don't rush from masterpiece to masterpiece—the paintings you remember most are often the ones you never expected. ✨ Signature feeling: Walking in for the famous names, and leaving still thinking about the angel who quietly shed a tear. Great museums don't compete for attention—they simply reward those who take the time to look. 🖼️✨

Beautiful sunset of parma

Flight from Parma to Palermo…short, relaxing and easy.

Honestly, the Italian countryside in summer is a whole mood—yeah, it gets super hot and humid, but trust me, it’s so worth it! 😍 The region Emilia Romagna, just outside the gorgeous city of Parma (address tip: Parma, Italy, 43121), is where you’ll find scenes straight out of a vintage postcard. Think golden fields, old-school farmhouses, and the kind of authentic agriculture vibes that make you feel like you’re traveling back in time. 🧑🌾 If you’re into slow travel, this spot is sooo good! Wander through the rural backroads, snap pics of sun-baked vineyards and olive groves, and breathe in that rustic air. Pro tip: Early mornings are PERFECT for exploring—less heat, more dreamy landscape lighting. ☀️ Parma itself is a foodie heaven (Parmigiano Reggiano, anyone?), but don’t miss the countryside’s chill charm. Most villages and farms are open for quick visits during daylight hours, usually from 8am to 6pm, so you’ve got plenty of time to soak it all in. And yes, you’ll want to bring a hat and some SPF because the sun is on another level! 😅 Ready to get lost in the scenery? Emilia Romagna's countryside is serving authentic Italian nostalgia—the views are unreal, and the vibes are 100% peaceful. This is the place that lets you step into a slower era, just outside Parma! #italy #countryside

The next stop in our journey took us to Parma, we visited a cafe over the road. The toilet wasn’t pleasant by any means and no toilet roll, there were no females in this cafe. The drinks were 3 euro each which seem to be the going rate. We only went here as we had no money and the train station charge euros to use it.
