The Arch of Fernán González in Burgos C. de Fernán González, 68, 09003 Burgos The Arch of Fernán González (Arco de Fernán González) is a large Aerial-style triumphal arch in Burgos, Spain. It was built on the house of Fernán González, Count of Castile, in his memory. It was built between 1584 and 1587 by master stonemason Juan Ortega de Castañeda and consists of two large bodies. The first is a large semicircular opening flanked by Tuscan columns. The second body displays the royal coat of arms, as well as the coats of arms of Burgos and Castile, and a cartouche with the text of Fray Luis de León, reminiscent of this character, with another opening above it and a straight pediment at the top.
