In Chiang Mai's Khun Wang Royal Agricultural Research Centre, cherry blossoms bloom. During the winter months of January to February, the hill will be draped in a blanket of pink Thai Sakura (Cherry Blossom Season), providing tourists with a breathtakingly beautiful sight. The variety of sakura growing in Thailand is the Wild Himalayan cherry (Prunus cerasoides). Its name in Thai is นางพญาเสือโคร่ง naang phá-yaa sǔea-khrông, which means “Tiger Queen.” There are few spots in Thailand where you may observe wild Himalayan cherry blossoms in bloom. Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Loi are the most popular destinations. During the second week of January, the flowers are always in full bloom and continue for nearly two weeks.
