Such a wonderful thing to do in Dubai.

What an incredible place and a must-do visit in Dubai. Latifa gave such an interesting presentation on the history of both the mosque itself, and of Islam and day-to-day religious practice in Dubai with a really great Q&A session. My advice would be to stay behind in the mosque after the talk is finished and most people have left just to enjoy the beauty of the building itself. I’d have loved to speak to Latifa myself but she was much in demand and had several people waiting to talk to her! The whole idea of the programme at the Jumeirah Mosque is to promote cultural understanding, and I think the team are doing an absolutely amazing job. It was a lovely surprise to see the most gorgeous bird of prey in the building too, and to have had the opportunity to hold him. For the very small entry fee for the tour, you get so much more in terms of the experience. I had read the website previously and made sure I wore appropriate clothing and had a headscarf, but for those who didn’t (including men who had shorts above the knee) traditional dress was provided to enable them to come into the mosque. Tours are now at 10am AND 2pm so if you miss the first one you have a second opportunity. Make sure you check the website before you go.!!! #themepark#zoo#nationalpark#lakes
