Tian Tan Big Buddha is situated at Lantau Island, you need to take the Mrt to the Tung Chung station, from there you can either take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car to Ngong Ping Terminal, just next to Ngong Ping Village, or bus number 23 from Tung Chung bus terminal to the Big Buddha. The Big Buddha is a large bronze statue completed in 1993, surrounding it with six smaller bronze statues known as " The Offering of the Six Devas". Visitors have to climb 268 steps to reach the Buddha, from the top is a nice panoramic view of the surroundings. Nearby is the Po Lin Monastery which was founded in 1906. This Buddhist Monastery boasts many prominent architectural structures, the main temple houses three bronze statues of Buddha- representing the past, present and future lives. A 15 minute walk from the Big Buddha, will lead you to the path lined with 38 wooden monuments inscribed with the Heart Sutra prayer.
