Blue Bottle Cafe at Kyoto

Great integration of modern style coffee shop in superb traditional Kyoto house. Still don’t like the acidic third wave coffee taste. But love their minimalistic design. Paint all in white and you’re at the Apple coffee shop. Blue Bottle Coffee is a café chain originating from California. Their café at Kyoto is very elegantly designed with traditional Japanese architecture. The front of the café serves as a merchandise store, while the back end is the actual café itself. Coffee here is pretty good, but the main highlight is definitely the ambience. Expect long lines during peak times. First taste of Blue Bottle in Japan and was amazed with the consistent coffee and experience. Extensive drink menu with a couple simple items to eat. The location is prime walking distance from downtown (and near the zoo). The cafe was absolutely stunning and could easily be confused for a traditional Japanese house. The interior is simple with two buildings attached to the complex. We had some great coffee in Koyto but BB was definitely near the top. [Also loved the glass coffee cups they served the pour over coffee in] #café
