Lima: City of Kings

Lima’s nickname “City of Kings” (La Ciudad de los Reyes) comes from its founding in 1535 by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. He established the city on 6 January, the date of the Christian feast of the Epiphany, which celebrates the visit of the Three Kings to the infant Jesus.
